Your findings echo my own, and are why I mostly don't even bother with pocket screws any more. For most joints, I just use my dowelmax. Otherwise, the construction screws.

NIce video - as mentioned elsewhere fine dust is the killer - two ways of minimising that are 1) keep your dust collection filter on the other side of the wall or in a room which ventilates to outside and/or 2) have suitably sized extraction fan ventilating to the outside rather than the filter. I know that is "difficult" in a basement!!

If you're not painting the cabinets (in which case you'd be looking at a lot of painted endgrain whenever you opened a door), and if the client isn't averse to some endgrain in their door joinery, the bridle makes for a highly attractive joint. I know I sent hundreds of such doors (meaning thousands of such joints) out into the world, where they would last a few centuries in the unlikely event they don't get scrapped in about ten years time, which is about as long as kitchens survive before the next remodel, in the U.S at least. Sort of sad to think about it like that. Then there's the thousands of handcut dovetails in the drawers… _Fine Woodworking_ magazine did this test a few years ago (I think they may do it periodically), and I recall the bridle proved to be the strongest. I did a more informal test on my bridle joints: I glued together a rail and stile, stood the stile upright on the floor, and then made a seat of the rail by putting virtually all my weight on the distal end. When the joint didn't budge it was good enough for me.

I built my first large tv stand with three tools. I would suggest you to add a cheap electric hand plane to the list and save some time.

I want to make a small production line, and that tip about flip down castors would make an amazing change to the small area I have to work with. I didn't know they existed. It will allow me to build a couple of different workstations and move the appropriate bench to my work area rather than set up some multi-use thing that requires part changing and compromises in design. *I don't know what stations I need yet, I haven't even finished inventing the PRODUCT. But the idea is going straight to my file of good ideas

The craftsmanship here is just insane. I'm building a mechanics bench so it doesn't need to be that classy, in fact I really don't want it that nice, because I don't want to hesitate about banging it up with engine parts. This is so nice I'd rather have it in my house.

the other point that you missed with duct work, every tee will introduce a "dead space" that introduces more turbulence

Hey man. Love your channel etc. etc. Countersinking. Wouldn't wood screws with flat heads be better for the job? I imagine that screws with this standard cone head would have a tendency to loosen their grip over time.

When cutting for the diagonal braces, allow for any end play in the circular saw shaft bearings. If there's a lot of slop and it will move back and forth easily, the saw blade position is going to shift on you.

Figure the lumber mill knows about the core warping issue; that's why they cut smaller boards from it, where the warp angle x the smaller board dimensions will give the least distance off.

As a person that knew nearly nothing about dust collection, thanks for the video. However, I think that's been really unpolite to say "hey, the brand that I carefully make you see in every shot that I could take actually made me this video". I mean, i get the gist at the fourth perfect focus of the brand, so think "saw" that coming. However, was really not fun to look a close to thirty minutes ad of the brand. If it's an ad (payed with money or goods not my problem) STATE IT. It's simply polite and allow people to choose if they want to see that. Cheers.

I’m not ever going to make a simple mitered or simple butt joint drawer. So that’s out of the question full stop. But I like the splined miter and I have and will make it so it’s good to know it’s strong as well. What about the lock rabbet and lock miter? Very common and a bit of mechanical for longevity.

I love the idea of the dowel jig you're using, I went to buy it to make sure to use any affiliate links you have but was shocked to see it's $225-$300?? I just screw around with wood projects occasionally - I don't need to spend that much on a dowel jig. If you had a more reasonably priced affiliate link I would have used that, just FYI 🙂
