You and I've had a similar ADV journey. I took delivery of my MTS V4 Rally last May. It's okay for light offroading, but I wanted a more dedicated off-roader, but wanted to keep the MTS V4 Rally for more long-distance touring. I ended up also buying a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro. That was an expensive lesson learned. It was just still too heavy for offoading (for me). I traded the Tiger 900 a few months later for a Husqvarna 701 Enduro. I've fully built out my H701 with a full ADV setup, but it only weighs ~350 lbs and has most of the creature comforts of a mid-sized ADV bike - so much more manageable for the type of off-roading riding that I'm doing (BDR type riding).....and yes, I've had to work my ass off for the moto-toys!

Great Bike! While listed as a 2024, some people might not realize the 2024 Tiger 900's are the 2nd gen now and have many updates over the 20-23. But, the 20-23 is a great bike and now you can find some good deals on them, either leftover new ones or pre-owned. Now sure of all the details of the Aragon edition, but it looks nice. I'm leaning towards the 20-23 Tiger 900 or possibly the 850 Sport

A Harley, any Harley, isn’t even on the same planet as a Ducati MTS V4. Really

Good for you! I'm a new subscriber, I to am from Colorado (Denver), I to am brand new to offroad, and I to just a month ago purchased a new 1290 KTM SAR. This summer I hope to ride the COBDR or perhaps the WYBDR. The WYBDR seems to be a bit easier and not having experience might be the better option for me. Cheers!!!

Been following you since you started this channel. I see you are going through that "Goldilocks ADV" phase which I went through for the past 10 of 12 years and finally came to a truism. "There is no perfect or one ADV bike does it all" I got this from the list of bikes you were looking at before the Tiger. In 12 years of riding ADV bikes, I've owned; 2 yes 2 Honda Africa twins, Triumph Tiger XCX, Yamaha Super Tenere, BMW 1250 GSA, BMW 850 GS, 2 yes 2 Ducati Desert X, KTM 890 R, KTM 1290 SAR, Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro, Ducati, Ducati Multistrada V4S. And I'll tell you there IS NO perfect ADV bike. The over 1000cc bikes are honestly too heavy to do any resonable off-road like her in CO other than maintained fireroads. And some of the BDR gets a bit challenging. The problem is, sure you can do anything on a big bike but it wears you out. Then the sub-1000cc bikes can be so-so on the highway. As you mentioned you have to use the highway to get to the off-road. And some of that off-road can beat the heck out of you before you get there. As you mentioned the KTMs can feel a bit "flighty" on the highway. And the 1290 is nowhere as stable in the canyons as KTM will have you believe. Neither did anything wrong. The 890 was a bit too "dirt bike" riding position for me as an ADV bike. With all the BMW fanboys I bought the big bike. I found it was outdated. There are far better big bikes UNLESS you plan on spending 80% of your time touring. That telelever suspension is "numb" feeling. And I don't care where it carries that weight, it's still WEIGHT! In my garage right now I have a Ducati Desert X, Harley Lowrider ST, and a Panigale. When I had the 1290 SAR and 890. I found the 890 sitting alot of the time. Hell for the two-ish years I owned it, I only put 1200 miles on it. As you mention a big ADV bike and a small bike are too similar. IMO, the although the Tiger I had was the 850 XCX. It was probably the best choice for an ADV for all the reasons you mention. I'm just a Ducati guy and find the Desert X capable of everything I want and yeah I'll admit has that Italian attraction to me. IMO, I have the perfect garage now. A bike for doing daily stuff and just cruising around; the Harley, a very capable ADV bike, the Desert X, and a trackday bike. Before you think you want a different bike talk to me first! I'll convince you the Tiger or any sub-1000cc ADV bike is all you need, especially with that Harely... BTW, I'm thinking of doing the COBDR this year maybe August. A buddy and me... Hit me up if you want to join us. Also we are going to the Revzill Get On ADVfest in Sturgis SD in July. Great time and you get to meet some of your fellow KZfaqrs, like "As the Magpie Flies" "Big Rock Moto", Ari and Zach, plus a bunch of others. A great time last year

So, basically you sold the Multistrada because it overlaps with a Harley RoadKing? Dude, this is an absolutely weird flex but ok. Congrats for the Tiger, in a year or so you’ll discover the Tenere.

Ironically I’ve been trying to find a used one to turn into a full off road rig. But I may have found an alternative

I have the same bike. It is listed as a Rally, not Rally Pro. It has all the wires and controls, but does NOT come with heated seats. It has all the Pro features except the heated seat. I had to buy a heated seat from Triumph.

Do you think it's possible for us to get a software update from the dealer on the old Tiger 900 Rally (Not the Rally Pro) to enable to Offroad Pro mode?

@@zeromileadv the 2024 tiger 900s have improved horsepower, gas mileage, rubber damped handle bars, upgraded display along with many other improvements. The 24 Aragon additions didn’t receive any of the 24 updates.. they are really 2023 bikes masquerading As 2024. If you buy a 2024 Aragon, You’re paying the price of a new bike, but getting the old one.

@@stevehamel1336ya it’s kinda well is a parts bin bike to make a left over production product more attractive. Like the Ducati came out with the gt I think it was big rock talked about it.
