► Today, I'll be doing something crazy - I'll be spending $100 in the upcoming mobile game Pokemon Masters in an attempt to scout (obtain) rare, five star trainers like Kris from Pokemon Crystal, Phoebe from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire and Brendon from Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire! Here, you'll be able to watch my first-hand experience of spending $100 and seeing what cash can get you in this game!

►Pokémon Masters was first announced by The Pokémon Company on May 29, 2019, alongside some other Pokémon games. It represents the first collaboration between the company and mobile game developer DeNA, and will be released for Android and iOS. The concept of the game came from series artist and designer Ken Sugimori who proposed the idea of having all past characters from the main series together in one game. It is expected to be released on August 29, 2019.

It's literally gambling and losing gambling at that. I hate the fact EA games went this route and ruined my favorite game I enjoyed through my teen years "Sims" and now pokemon is going this route. I hate this this world is lousy in some ways. Nobody cares about quality they care more about their paychecks... Inexcusable.

James Hanvey not exactly. EA? Understandable, no single player game should be a p2w or simply release barely complete game with paid dlcs to get the complete experience. Mobile gacha games? It's all fair game. Just look up Fate Grand Order, a fucking massive cashgrab that surpassed many mobages because of its IP.

That’s the whole point of a gacha game if you want the characters either get lucky or spend money on the game, just stay f2p, no ones forcing you to pay money, this is mainly for people who don’t mind investing money into the game to get better characters

Jorge OvO investment means you at least get something good out of the money someone puts in. Instead this is like thanks for the donation, heres a chance you might get the item you’re looking for. Also as soon as support stops theres go the servers for the games. You just wastes money on a game that barely lasted X amount of years. People take it too far and end up in debt or get the whole gambling addiction of spending all their money in these games. Don’t mean to turn this into a rant, these types of games are so short term, and are only profitable to the company making it. Sure some devs are good. I rather they use that idea for a mobile game into a fully fledged game. Sadly microtransactions in games like these are most profitable.

Hey PokeTips, there is actually a way to tell which trainer you are getting. 3 star: Blue background, no antenna. 4 star: Blue background, antenna. 5 star: Lightning at the start, rainbow background, satellite. For x10, it could be any of the 3. I think it just chooses a trainer that is going to be pulled and shows the animation depending on what it picked.

I play quite a few gacha games, so I assume when you see a rainbow flash it means you got a 5* in your sync. Just a heads up for anyone who plans on playing this. That's most likely how you'll know you'll get a 5* Also: Protip, always save gems since there will most likely be trainer specific banners in the future. So someone you like may be on rate up, and you'll have a better chance for that character.

@@aaronfranklin8038 I don't know about that game in particular, so you may be right, but F2P games in general are designed in a way where the player is incentivized to spend money on micro-transactions. if you think about it for a second, you should realize that they HAVE to be designed like that. otherwise, where else would the money come from? developing games is expensive. so in virtually all cases, the game design is compromised with RNG mechanics and locked content that have the sole purpose of pushing micro-transaction sales. maybe there's a tiny number of exceptions, but reality is that almost all F2P games are in essence digital casinos making gambling accessible to kids and other demographics prone to gambling addiction.
