Today's video is yet another Asian vegan grocery haul where I spend too much money on things I love: vegan food! I went a little mock-meat happy in this one, but I'm excited to try all these different mock meats in various dishes!

Why isn't your logo using the Vietnamese flag? - Actually I use the South Vietnam flag because it represents Viet Kieu (Vietnamese immigrants after the fall of Saigon), my parents were both boat refugees before immigrating to Canada. My logo combines two parts of my identity: Maple leaf because I'm Canadian, and the South Vietnam flag because I'm Vietnamese :)

Hooray for Asian mock meats! It's one of the biggest reasons why I've been hanging here in Vietnam for so long now. Well, that and the pandemic, but that's a whole other story!

I bought some reusable silicone steamer liners on line a couple of years ago. Just thought I'd mention that they exist, so you might consider them when your paper liners run out. I enjoy your KZfaq videos and recipes.

I really love your grocery haul videos. Just one comment about the coconut milk: In the last weeks that brand created a bit of a media scandal (at least in german speaking countries) because Peta found out that they use monkeys to harvest the coconuts, and aparently they severely abuse them. Just thought you and your community might be interested in that. A pity, because it used to be my favorite brand as well.

Yeah I noticed it too :( I dont know if other brands make this boxed type. For now I'm just getting Native Forest canned coconut milk (way pricier but worth it in the end obviously, plus I don't use coconut milk too often!).

We have a super diverse community here in Melbourne, Australia and one of my fav things to do is spend time at Indian, East Asian and middle eastern grocery stores!! Incredible fresh produce and quality imports.

That’s my favorite coconut milk, it’s the perfect replacement for half and half in coffee. But every time I try to describe it to people they have no idea what brand I’m talking about lol.

I did not notice your center part. I think it looks quite nice on you. Loved the grocery haul. I always think I'm going to stop by my local asian store, and then I don't. Guess I'm too lazy to go to two stores in one day 😐

Omg I’d love to see more Asian mock meat dishes 🥰 Also wow those are expensive in CA! In Germany all these items would be max 6€ at the Asian grocery store 😳

If you're in the hammer, try Pho Dau Bo on cannon /james street, they have the best vegan pad thai {just need to ask for no egg} and also their pho is pretty good too, they have lots of veggie options

I love doing the same, splurging in the asian market! also, could you maybe do a recipe on vietnamese cha lua chay? (the ham sausage, vegan style, in case I got the name wrong) I can’t find it in the stores:(

Have u heard or seen in the Asian stores packaged crispy chicken. It’s vegan and it’s packed in oil cooks up real crispy. I used to see it in ny but was wondering if they are still around somewhere.

i have two asian markets near me (h mart and 99 ranch) and i am always so sad i can’t find a lot of the awesome mock meats you share! tons of awesome canned seitan though. 😎 out of curiosity, do you know if any of those “artificial pork/beef broth powders” are vegan? i believe the brand i’ve seen the most is Dragonfly

I think they're vegan, but I never know for sure and I stopped risking it 🙈 mushroom broth powder or the vegan bouillon pastes from Better than Bouillon are the only ones I ever get these days.

I often do that with squash! Esp if there's a lot that I can't use all at once, so I will portion them out. I sometimes do that with garlic too, but I haven't done it much lately.
