Despite Macau being a part of China, there is still a border separating the territory for the mainland. I stumbled upon the border when wandering around the city, and it was a pretty interesting experience.

I was 4 years ago in Europe. The bus was being checked on boarders, by police with dogs, they take some refugees, with their children, the woman was crying, it was like in a movie. Human rights and political boundaries is a global problem. Of course is more easy to see when you are at the neighbors house.

Berlin was divided by a wall for a long time. Cyprus in Greece still is. Borders are strange between countries, but even more weird WITHIN them. Sad really.

The countries and borders have given us a variety of cultures and ways of life that makes it interesting. But agreed like anything else it has an opposing side. People not given lines has it's own share of problems and humans are rather tribal.

Do Macanese understand and speak Portuguese on a daily basis? or do they speak Chinese and Cantonese on a daily basis?

They don’t really use Portuguese now, but I heard they do learn it at school. It’s mostly Cantonese, Mandarin and a bit of English

Hong Kong and Macau being former British and Portuguese colonies all drive on the left. Mainland China all drives on the right. As for how they switch at the border, I'm not entirely sure, I assume the road must criss cross at some point and have a traffic light or something to avoid collisions.

Macanese mostly kept quiet during this period, as most of their economy is built around rich mainlanders spending money in the casinos. There’s some interesting videos that go into depth on the difference between Hong Kong and Macau if you search around.

Don’t meddle with politics if this isn’t your field of action. You could say things which are inaccurate or incomplete and, to that, get into troubles if you once has to go to China for business having forgotten what you have said once on this video. It doesn’t get lost what you say online. It is just for your safety.

Besides, as a geopolitical analyst, you must know very well about Macau, HK and the British….would you let the borders just open? And besides again, it is the Chinese government who is deciding if your remark was controversial or not…..btw...
