We tested a Waterdrop King Tank gravity-fed water filter using a certified third party lab. We wanted to see how well this system tackles common contaminants in city water and if it's a suitable choice for your daily water filtration needs. Brian walks through the testing procedure, test results, and a few anomalies that were identified.

Testing Disclaimer
The system in this video was objectively tested under real-life conditions. The water samples were taken from one single location, had a limited range of contaminants, and may not represent the system's performance in other areas or under different conditions. Contaminants were not intentionally added for testing purposes. This is a single test and does not accurately reflect the system's performance under different conditions, with different contaminants, or its performance over a longer period of time. The results are not comprehensive or conclusive.
Laboratory Quality Assurance Disclaimer
Like all water test results (indeed, all lab testing), results are subject to variabilities and inaccuracies that Tap Score works to understand, limit, and explain. More information about the most common sources of variability that Tap Score are aware of can be found here: mytapscore.com/blogs/tips-for...
100% Contaminant Removal Rates Disclaimer
A 100% removal rate means there are no contaminant detections above the MDL (Method Detection Limit). The MDL is the lowest concentration of a given analyte for which the laboratory is confident in claiming per each contaminants detection (ie. how low the instruments can measure down to with confidence).

Great idea, thanks! However it's good to mention that there is no "one size fits all" water treatment solution. The best first step to take is to test your water using a certified lab so you can get a good understanding of the water situation and chemistry. Then, using the test results data, you can identify proper treatment methods and products to fit your specific needs.

Hello Thanks for the videos. Really helpful. Can you advise on the below questions. 1. Based on the leanings so far which under the sink RO system you recommend ? Water drop or Aqua Tru or RKIN 2. Is there any Under the sink RO system which has hot/cold outlets
@waterfilterguru

Hi thanks for your comment and questions! 1. RKIN does not have an under sink RO, and we have not yet installed or tested the AquaTru under sink version (although I think the filters are the same as the countertop unit). So these can't accurately be compared apples o apples to the Waterdrop G series under sink RO. 2. The Waterdrop K6 (waterdropus.pxf.io/5gBJj9) under sink RO provides on demand hot water

Any that use ceramic filter media, like the ProOne tinyurl.com/mr3zap7c But for even more protection, you could disinfect the water with a 8 drops of 6% unscented bleach per gallon of water and let it sit for 30 minutes. This will disinfect the water, then you could filter with any of the gravity fed systems to remove the disinfection chemical

Hey! Does the water drop king remove microplastics and PFAS / forever chemicals ?
@waterfilterguru
@waterfilterguru 3 ай бұрын
While neither of these contaminants were analyzed in our initial test, we can make a couple assumptions: 1) Activated carbon is currently one of the best methods to address PFAs in residential applications, and AC is one component of the media in these filters. We can extrapolate that they will reduce some % of PFAs. 2) Carbon block media can filter suspended particles down to 5 - 0.5 microns in size. I don't know the exact nominal micron rating for the king tank filters, I'd have to ask the manufacturer. Microplastics can range from 1 -5,000 microns in size. So the carbon block media should be capable of reducing a large % of microplastics present. However if there are nanoplastics smaller than the nominal micron rating of the filters, some might get through

@@StatesideInsights The carbon block filters in this unit should be able to address many microplastics in the water. That said, it all depends on the size of the plastic particles. Carbon block can trap particles down to 0.5 microns in size, but some nano plastics can be smaller than that. I'd recommend a reverse osmosis system for the best protection against nano plastics

Does the water before the filters cause any harm if they are drank? What is the use of removing contaminates that dont harm the average drinker? But filters that trapped the dirt and waste normally grow bacteria and cause toxic minerals after a few weeks or months. If you check most filters in the real world you will find the water is infected with worms bacteria virus and a host of water borne disease breeding at the filters. Please do a test of the filter that most users kept in use without cleaning for months.

In most instances, there won't be fluoride in untreated surface water. Fluoride is added at the treatment plant to prevent tooth decay, or occurs naturally in ground water (well water). But if you're filtering water from a stream which is likely to have pathogenic contaminants like bacteria or viruses, it most likely won't have fluoride.
