I've been making my own music for years now and as much as I love it the process, it's easy to feel a bit flat about it all sometimes when you do it all on your own. Nice! I just started using GranulatorII. Always loved electronic music and synths, but never resonated with synthesizer like granulatorII. It is a fantastic instrument. I wrapped mine in an instrument rack and mapped some of my favorite controls to macros. With saved variations it's like having a bunch of instruments ready to launch! Thanks for the video and music! thank *YOU* David and thank *YOU* for the inspiration. i've always had max instruments installed, but never really paid attention to them...until your video. i got to your video after watching some Tasty Chips GR-1 videos. it's a hardware granular synth that is awesome and i don't have. lol. so i'm thankful...actually very grateful for the Max4Live and your video. this could be life changing. =) i can see how one can get obsessed. count me as a granular synth newbie now. thanks for the comments below about pigments 2 also. Nice track! Check out Grain Scanner on the Ableton Shop too. I also love Quanta and The Mangle, which you mentioned, but on the fancier end Arturia's Pigments 2 and Blinksonic's Cataliz (Reaktor only) are particularly fun.

I'm completely in love with Arturia's Pigments 2. After using Steimberg's PadSop Pro for years, Pigments really opened my eys to the power of granular synthesis! Great video and song!

1:33 i remember doing this exact thing back in early 2000's with Cool Edit Pro - but first I used the enveloped follower also ! Chopped up, moved around, changed the volume and panning.Had same fantastic unique sounding results that were impossible to achieve otherwise

It's not exactly granular but spectral, and it's probably old news to you, (I'm new to all this so I'm like a 50-year-old kid in the coolest musical candy store Ever) but Izotope's Iris 2 is on sale for $9.99 on Plugin Boutique right now. It's about 5-6 years old, so ancient as these things go, but if you haven't checked it out, I HIGHLY recommend it. Way cool. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

of all the granular synths i've tried (and i've pretty much tried them all), this one is my favourite. i actually did an entire gig using several instances of this plugin inside a rack in ableton. each one was loaded with a guitar sample, or a bell sample and i played them via midi guitar. i recorded the gig, you can hear it on bandcamp. it's called "live at tuesday's post" if you're curious.

Fun fact about Ableton and Max: ableton was made using Max, which is why max for live plugins look like ableton stock plugins. “Cycling ‘74”, the company that made Max, was later bought by Ableton

I just got Ableton Live 11 and I cant find Granulator. Anyone know how to fix?

*_IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING EXTREME CLIPPING ISSUES:_* Restart Live, and see if it fixes it. If not, restart your computer. Then open Granulator II again, it should be fine now. When I first opened Granulator (Live 10, as of 2020.12.19), it made these horrible, ear splitting sounds. Live registered an output of _positive_ infinity (!). It sounded like my computer was having a stroke. Even turning my channel audio all the way down to -64db, and turning the device's output down to -36db would STILL produce an infinite output level. (bruh) I set up a limiter and played around with it some more, hoping I just missed a certain parameter. Nope. The limiter was ALWAYS at max reduction. I got frustrated and gave up. I concluded the device was made unusable by a Max update (this device came out in like, 2013). Downloaded some more plugins. Hated all of them. This device makes the most sense to me, and has the most parameters. I must make it work. I came across this video, and saw it working as I expected. And I saw it came out just a few months ago. Must not be broken from a Max update. I stubbornly turned my computer back on, opened Live, opened Granulator, and BOOM. Worked instantly. No Limiter required. *TLDR:* If you experience horrible clipping that breaks your computer, restart everything, and that should fix it. This device may have some kind of installation/initialization bug. Just restart. and everything should be fine.
