I owned the Hulk. Way to much green. It became overwhelming after a year. The new LV is perfection and more signature Rolex in the way the green bezel and gloss black dial compliment and contrast each other much more dramatically than the all green Hulk. The new case and bracelet is miles better looking than the last blocky maxi case. Rolex is THE king because they know what they are doing. Take this from someone that actually owns both models.

I currently own the new Kermit and used to own the hulk. I think the bracelet helps with balancing the watch. I don’t mind the new bracelet and I prefer the thinner lugs.

I own a 40mm black Sub and would like to own a green one, preferably the Hulk. However, prices are ridiculous. Paying thousands just for a green bezel is just dumb.. Therefore, I’ll pass.

If one is not moving forward than your are going backwards. Steve Jobs always said “people don’t know what they want until you give it to them.” I love the larger clasp and use the additional 2MM all the time on my Starbucks watch.

To each their own - I love my 126610LV. I also have the new Bluesy so I'm a little biased on the dimensions as I'm rather committed. I'm pretty confident I'll end up with the Cookie Monster this year as well.

The new 12 series is perfection. Not sure what OP is talking about really. The previous blocky model with supersized lugs was a design flaw and awful.

I have both and I think people are making it too big of a deal. I like the new one more. I like the thinner lugs, the additional power reserve and the date sets much quicker

I think the new size proportions are more suitable to each other, except for the clasp length. But the wider bracelet with the slimmer lugs is just amazingly nicer. I just got the new no date sub 124060 and really love it. So much better proportioned than the previous chunk :-)

I’m wearing my 124060 right now. It’s huge but I can’t take it off. It also turned me against my 116610. So I can’t even go back now. I almost sold both of them yesterday!!! I’m seriously thinking of going sub free and just getting that Explorer 36. But I can’t take the new Sub off. It’s clown size but it’s so nice. Help!!!

Personally, I think the new subs are proportionally correct and looks perfect on the wrist (7.5mm). They are luxury watches but are still made to be a "tool" watch.

Respectfully, who looks at the clasp ? It’s sole purpose is to close the bracelet so the watch doesn’t fall off your wrist. As long as a clasp has adjustment it’s all good to me. Respectfully to everyone else’s options.

I have both the new Subs in 41mm, traditional all black and the LV. I'm going to keep the all black and swap the LV for a Hulk. The green and black doesn't work as well as the all green Hulk.

Great review. I have a 8.25" wrist and that new clasp is too large and there was no reason to go to a wider bracelet or diameter IMHO.

The clasp on the hulk is already quite chunky given the 20mm micro adjustment especially for wrist below 6.5" and with the increased size on the Starbucks I can only imagine it will be even more cumbersome. Definately will get in a way of something when wearing hence straches and dings.

i kinda agree with you that they should have kept the 40mm size. no need to go bigger... unless they have a different reason why they changed the size (strategic wise). but i definitely love the green over the regular all black sub.

The cases are literally 0.3mm different. Not a whole 1mm. But The hulk looks noticeably bigger cuz the thicker lugs with its slimmer bracelet

I was really into Rolex between 2011 to 2016 and you are right, those days no one wanted the Hulk. Especially as the green dial didn’t work to well in some light conditions with the bezel. That said, I think you are right, I kinda liked the 116610 cases and bracelet, though I also can appreciate the attempt from rolex to slim down a bit the lugs. Was interesting to get your thoughts on the Kermit 2.0 especially as you own it, thanks for that. Have a great start into the new week, cheers Bro

The 116619lb is so fantastic in the metal, it’s so under appreciated and that just ads to its appeal (for me). It’s the perfect one and done Rolex, sport watch, submariner period. Not to mention, the bracelet & clasp dimensions are right where they should be, perfect!!!

I agree with you when it comes to the LV version. I really don't for the green ceramic bezel. I have the black no date 41m and i think it is gorgeous with almost perfect proportions. I do have a larger wrist though at 7.75" The larger bracelet and clasp is one of my favorite upgrades.

I LOVE the new bracelet. I have a 20cm/8-inch wrist, and the beefier bracelet gives make the submariner a big enough presence. It's a WIN (for me!)

Great video and honest criticism!! Rida the truth is Rolex just doesn’t do it anymore since you’ve been wearing your AP’s! I wear a watch for that feel good feel successful factor and if a watch doesn’t do that for you doesn’t matter how hot it is! We have to start looking at watches without the hype and just buy them for what makes us happy!

Ah, Ridah you are making me think about this release. But here's the question: would you get the new LV if you could get it for retail OR would you pay more to get the old Hulk at market value since it is discontinued? Do you think this new LV merits paying retail even though it is a bit clumsy?

colors are debatable.. but all changes made are perfect, starting from the size. Unfortunately the speculation bubble. In 2016 I chose a sea dweller 4000 over a batman simply because I liked it more (and both were discounted at the time)

I agree with you, especially on the new bigger clasp. It is now uncomfortably too big vs the older glide lock was a perfect size. I feel like the hype for the Submariner is superficially done due to inventory and grey market pricing. If Rolex actually makes this watch available in AD, I doubt many people would get it. Now the previous-gen Submariner was perfect.

I predicted and somewhat wished the new submariner would have a case identical to that of the modern GMTs. Meaning a super case with slightly slimmer lugs than the initial supercase. I could not tell they were slimmed down until I first tried on my everose gold GMT. Wished they did the same on the sub, but they did these changes instead. still nice though. I got the no date. I'd rate it 9/10 for a steel subamariner. It wouldve been a 10 if it were a little smaller.

I can tell you the 12 is an exception, even with the wider bracelet, however, I own both and definitely prefer the 114060.

Submariner in black is a classic and a staple for every collection. The original Kermit and the hulk were originals and collectibles in their own right. But the ceramic Kermit (126610LV) is unoriginal and boring.

I know this is an older video but I feel that it's even more relevant, especially now that the MK2 dial is out. While I like that particular colour, I just feel that Rolex doubles down on trying to connect to both the Hulk and Kermit just by swapping inserts. I do have both Hulk and Starbucks MK2 but the latter invokes little emotion for me.

had the opportunity to buy a kermit or hulk and while I was never a fan of the maxi case, I prefer it paired with a perfect bracelet to a slightly larger case with refined lugs with a chungus bracelet. Rolex should have slimmed the lugs and left everything else as is.

Have to agree. The new bracelet and clasp is a big put off for me. Absent of the green dial, I generally feel the Kermit and Cermit is just not quite as fun. The variety of hues the dial is able to produce on the hulk in conjunction with the bezel just makes it more impactful and interesting to look at. I cannot speak for the Cermit or Kermit but I would imagine that it looses this in favour of being a more versatile watch with a black dial.

When talking about price, seems you’re referring to the grey market. I bought all my watches at retail (including the Rootbeer and Hulk) and will buy the the new Kermit at retail as well.

I had the privilege to try on the Starbuck and the regular steel submariners and I thought the starbuck fit well and look great . Did not spend much time with is so I have to take your word for it . I owned the hulk and would not part ways with is . Great video

Can’t agree more, to add another point, the thinner lugs actually seem kinda off proportion with the bigger dial and bezel imo. As it’s a maxi case, the older version look better in proportion. It’s either they stick to the old maxi case or they go back to the 5 digits case. The new design just kinda odd. i’m keeping my new old.

I bought the new Kermit 3 days ago for retail from the AD. It's my first Rolex and I love it. I don't have much to compare it to as I haven't owned the original or the Hulk. I REALLY LOVE IT!

It’s good, I just think the bracelet and elongated claps is more pronounced on the new Kermit as supposed to the 12 classic black date sub, possibly because of the different Basel colour variation 🤷‍♂️

I'm no expert, but I love it. My grail is the Pepsi Bezel. Not sure Subs come in Pepsi, but when I see that bezel on any watch I can't stop looking at it. My daily watch which is now my favorite which is the Q Timex Pepsi. Don't care whether it's Quartz or automatic or the movements. I'm all about how the watch makes me feel when it's on my wrist and Timex is hitting it out of the ball park when it comes to that lately. Their retro Q's, M769s and Marlins are amazing.

I don't like the Hulk myself, and perhaps of ALL the new Sub this is the one I would actually want/enjoy the most 0 and I usually go in for bi-color or anything else besides black bezels... The "Starbucks" (like that name for the new and Cermit/Kermit for the old) I like. But, there is a few other watches I'll pursue first and I certainly would NOT pay a huge premium over retail for this one!

I am a bit confused by the review, you mentioned that you like the green bezel and black dial combination, yet you call it gimmicky. Still trying to figure out how Rolex "messed up", is it just because of the clasp has 2 additional millimeters of adjustment? PS I don't own a Kermit, Hulk or a Starbucks, but I am looking to buy a Starbucks.

The combination of green on black had always been my favourite, however, not on this 2020 LV due to the size of the case. I also dislike it for the wider bracelet and the new elongated clasp. It would’ve looked better if Rolex kept the sizing as is.

A great watch, but I agree. Widening the bracelet and thinning the lugs makes the watch look bigger. Add that way too bulky clasp and I'm not interested. The maxi case and 20mm end link is a better match in my opinion. I'd trade for a mint Hulk. Cheers. PS, When do we start calling the OP 41s Maxi Dial? They're huge man!

I get it can be hard to put a finger on it, but what's gimmicky about the new Sub??? Okay, 1mm larger then preferred, but where's the "gimmick"?

I actually prefer the new dimensions. That tiny adjustment of the lugs just sit better on my wrist. The clasp looks significant when comparing side by side, but on wrist, independent of comparison, any difference is negligible after a full day of wear. For reference I have 7.5” wrist, so that affects my wearing experience.

Same here. IMO it only looks large when comparing to others. After hearing all these complaints on the clasp size I was expecting an absolute tank when I tried it on but I was pleasantly surprised (6.5” wrist too!). Also it’s worth noting that while it is larger the actual functional length is no longer than a BB58. I compared them both directly and the Sub definitely looks larger but it actually fits SO much better due to the design of the folding parts.
