One of the good things about Sophie's reviews is the honest distances. I'm an old guy and it's great to hear from the point of view of somebody who hits about the same distances I do. Except she does it all the time ;-)

Ever since the Apex CF-16s came out, Callaway definitely has a formula for good irons that are easy to hit and fly high. The CF-19s were an improvement adding a bit more spin to reduce the fliers over the CF-16s - these Mavrik's seem to be another small improvement. I had to personally reduce the lofts on all my CF-16s to gap them properly but once dialled in they performed very well (didn't love the sound but the shots they produced were very consistent. I demoed the CF-19s but ultimately went with a Mizuno because of more consistent spin control - but I absolutely can see these Mavrik Pros doing well as long as they have dialled in the short irons from producing low spin fliers.

I recently was fitted for the Mavericks and ended up finding that I'm more suited for the Maverick Pro. One thing that I think would have clinched this review is dispersion. The one thing that we noted that changed for the positive, for me, going from the Mav's to the Mav pro was that my consistency was dramatically improved when hitting the Pros. This was partly due to what you mentioned about the Mavs....they go LONG! However great that sounds, I would prefer a club the is reliable to a 5 yard distance vs a 15 yard difference.

I had my fitting on Friday and just loved the max I have been using the X2 hot but with the wrong shafts (stiff and really should be reg). I didn’t really want to go for the max, I thought the Mavrik would be better but the numbers and more importantly the flight of the ball was fab. I play of 12 and honestly think these clubs will get me down to single figures. Great review thanks for reassuring me.

Great video Sophie. Good to see the on course testing and driving range testing too, which I much prefer to an indoor simulator. Are you looking to put some Mavrik pro irons in the bag? 😊🏌🏼‍♂️👍

Sophie from a feel perspective which is better mavrik max or sim os?

Tried today both the Mavrik and the Mavrik Pro. Did not like the Mavrik at all. Ok, yes it flies far, I could hit 160 meters carry with it but too low spin for me. And the feeling was not there and it looks like a shovel. The Pro was another league for me. Carry was around 145 to 150 meters which is more than enough for a 7-iron and decent spin numbers. I have Srixon Z785:s now and I am looking for a slightly "easier" club and with Graphite shafts because of my bad right elbow. I will do the fitting for the Pro next week. I might go for regular shafts instead of stiffs.

@@MC-nb6jx long story. Played badminton at Finnish top level for 15 years and played in one national Championship without knowing I had bad sepsis. Then I was 2 weeks in hospital and my playing hand elbow was swollen like a handball for the first days. They said I will get osteoarthritis when I am older as the bacteria destroyed the elbow. Well I might not have gotten it so bad, but as I have been sportclimbing for 26 years, the elbow is finished. I love climbing and even at 61 still its possible to improve but its really hard for your tendons. I have been operated twice but there is nothing to do anymore but get cortisone shots. I have got now a new elbow support made from thin plastic and it helps for sure in golf. Climbing with it is unfortunately impossible :)

Fitted to the standard Mavriks. Hitting it long. Maybe i don't need hybrids. Fairway woods directly to 5 iron?

Completely depends on the player Matt - whatever works for you! Have you had a full gap test to make sure that you've got a club for every yardage? Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already, loads more videos coming soon...

For me, the standard Mavrik would be the way to go. I don't really see a market for the Max. Nice looking clubs.

Sophie, great review. I'm going in for a iron fitting soon. Leaning to the Mavrik Max for the forgiveness but like the standard Mavrik for the distance. What do you think about ordering the Max's with 2 degrees stronger loft. Thanks

Sophie my first watch and thought it was great. I have a couple of questions that I hope you can carve out some time to respond. I like others mentioned probably have more in common with your swing than the guys doing these reviews hitting 7 irons 200 yds. That helps for comparison purposes. 1. Were these clubs in any way fitted for you? If not what would you change regarding setup? 2. The data seemed pretty in line for distance, ball speed etc.You probably would like a little more spin but it was pretty ok. I did note your launch angle was 24 - 26 degrees. Seems a bit high but you tell me? If it was high what would you do to change it regarding setup? Hence my question. I too hit it high like that and want to know if that is the exception or can I modify setup and how? Thanks. Cheers.

joe bixby Hi Joe, firstly they were not fitted to me I’m afraid. I’d have more flex in the shaft, flatter lie angle, smaller grip given the choice. My dynamic loft is high, this is a fault in my swing, which is common in the women’s game. I am forever working on wrist angles at impact to bring the loft down.

@@sophiewalker2542 - Thanks for the response Sophie. I beg you to indulge me once more. You are working on a wrist modification or swing mod. Can you recommend a setup mod that will too commonly lower launch angle? I launch a 7 at 26 - 27 degrees. I surmise if I can lower that into low 20's there is probably 5 - 7 yards to be gained. Thanks again.

joe bixby it’s impact that needs work not so much set up. Unless it’s your grip which I can’t see. I’d recommend seeing a coach and going on a launch monitor with them

Not sure why they have someone who needs subtitles to understand giving a review. Interesting marketing move by Callaway. The Max is a substitute for the Big Bertha, feel like that's very clear. They also have her throwing out all of these technical terms from Callaway and it honestly sounds like a bad car salesman..... Sales person. Subpar video.
