I, Too, Am Auckland is a student-based initiative at The University of Auckland.
Our 2016 campaign, titled “CONVERSATIONS,” include videos which explore student experiences negotiating identity, everyday racism, privilege, and more, in a university context through conversational sessions.
Video participants provide a number of sometimes divergent approaches to addressing everyday racism at interpersonal and institutional levels. We hope that viewers follow the spirit of the videos by engaging in constructive dialogue, respectfully considering others’ viewpoints, reflecting on their own potential biases, and aiming to learn from one another.
Please remember that video participants have demonstrated courage by expressing their viewpoints on a public platform. Cyberbullying and other forms of insensitive criticism will not be tolerated. We are here to learn from each other and engage in positive conversations.
The ITAA team for this series consists of George Greig, Todd Karehana, Chloe Manga, David Mayeda, Sarah McLean, Jade Newton, Arthur Ung, and Julie Zhu.

if you did not want to secede sovereignty then you should have not signed the damned treaty

2 versions of the treaty existed. "The Treaty of Waitangi" and "Te Tiriti O Waitangi". Article 1 of the English version said the Maori would cede Sovereignty to the Crown. The Maori Version of Article 1 said that Maori would grant the crown Governorship (NOT SOVEREIGNTY) which is what Maori were signing. But of course, the English Version had more recognition -.-

Māori never ceded sovereignty, over 500 Māori only signed Te Tiriti which states tino rangatiratanga (sovereignty) is to remain with hapū. Only 39 signed The Treaty because Te Tiriti was not present AND were led to believe it stated exactly what Te Tiriti said (as they only spoke Māori). In international law contra preferedum also states Te Tiriti is in fact the authoritative text.
