I spent a total of $238.44 on all that food! Overall I have to say, I have enjoyed almost all of Joey’s recommendations. Bailey and I both agree we LOVE the Kodiak cakes. The only thing we didn’t really like is the fiber one brownies.

I lost 96 lbs in my 20’s and 120 in my thirties... had to do it again after I got married (fat and happy again). After this last year I’ve got work to do again. It is a constant struggle for those of us who love to eat and are prone to being heavy. I’ve learned a lot in my journey. It’s definitely a process and a personal journey. I feel like Joey gave you tangible, usable information that didn’t go too hard. Except the peanut butter. Sorry Joey!! Gotta have it sometimes 😆

Healthy and low calorie are not always the same thing... I did really like how he gave recommendations and not orders... definitely from a place of caring... and for a lot of people just knowing which items are better is helpful... like some people don’t realize that just by switching from Mayo to mustard you save abt 100 calories... it adds up
@JoeySuggs

Yesss sauces are one of the BIGGEST places people can cut some cals! I also 100% agree that healthy does not equal low calorie or vise versa, it all comes down to managing calorie intake

If you really do like Mayo I’d recommend to buy the avocado oil mayo which taste exactly like Mayo , doesn’t taste like avocado , it’s 45 calories for 1 tablespoon instead of regular Mayo 1 tablespoon for 90 calories, but I never use too much Mayo & also use mustard
@whateverchannel22

These are great changes! They are totally doable. I do most of them already, but i loved your suggestion to use the package ranch with nonfat yogurt to make your own dressing. It is a little bit of an investment when you are starting from scratch like your sister. Once you have the staples in place, there is not much difference in price from the high calorie versions.

Just stick to natural foods (e.g. carrots, whole eggs, mixed nuts, fruits, etc), and limit the low calorie foods. I feel they contain a lot more chemicals, and deplete your body of natural necessary nutrients. For example, sticking to natural honey instead of "low calorie" syrup. The low calorie syrup isn't "bad", but use it a little bit.

For the most part people that don’t know how to make good food using low calorie ingredients tend to go back to their ways. Just can’t give up. I needed some new ideas myself as the same “healthy” things get old. I bought Greg Doucette’s 2.0 cookbook and it’s got some really good recipes. Definitely makes you feel like you’re cheating on a diet and keeps you within your calorie range. It’s $150 but you can’t put a price on quality of life.

I think this is so thoughtful of you taking your sister grocery shopping to show the health conscious way to buy groceries. You’ve inspired me to do this with my mom because she’s overweight and has been my entire life. She has some arthritis in her knees but it’s mostly due to her weight and not excerising. She’s in her 60s now but I think If I could do the same thing you’re doing with your sister hopefully my mom can see a drop in her weight. Thank you for all you do! I feel like eating healthier is a give and take. Yea almonds are higher in fats but you have to train yourself to only eat so much. (The fat helps you feel fuller longer). I love the Kirkland nut, dried fruit, and cheese packs! Yes it’s more calories than rice cakes (those are still good) but I feel fuller longer and it’s a whole lot better than the bag of chips I was eating before lol. Overall you just have to make a conscious decision to pick a smarter option than you were making before. Yea that POM juice is a lot of sugar... but it’s better than soda so make it your treat item for the week after you go to the beach or something. Oh and I loved how kind he was helping her make those smarter choices rather than just saying “yes” or “‘no” to items. ❤️

lol felt like I was watching myself grocery shop! Honestly, once you learn how to read a label, it is exceptionally easy to shop healthy. I'm also a fan of the ICBINB Light butter, OIKOS greek yogurt, egg whites, etc. However, I will have to say this -- I generally attempt to limit the amount of sugar-free contraptions that I consume b/c I intuitively feel that consuming undigestable sugars in excess over a long period of time isn't advisable. I've stopped consuming Fiber One brownies for this reason (although also b/c I got tired of them lol) :-(

Soooo I understand these choices if you're trying to eat lower calories. However, you're buying all of this premade stuff that isn't nutritionally dense. Sure, you might loose weight eating these items, but is this plan healthy? Lower in calories does NOT mean healthy. When I go shopping, I buy WAY more produce and cook my own foods so I know exactly what goes into my meals. Furthermore, I don't see any planned meals happening here. He's just buying random items with no plan on how to use them..
