For people who don't know about Kyriakos Grizzly, he sustained an injury a long time ago when he did regular lifting. His lifts now are unconventional but it's an effective workout without making his injury worse. His mobility and the way he moves mass is pretty impressive. Send your support.

I had read somewhere that Kyriakos Grizzly was an up and coming Greek athlete in weightlifting with his career being cut short because of an injury. Since then he continued training, going for particular exercises that do not affect his injury, that is why so often he lifts unconventionally. He is a very gentle guy and with great humour who loves not taking himself as seriously!| By the way, Kyriakos brought me here and told me to subscribe to PewDiePie

@@dannyliftsweights2125 he saw it in grizzly comment section. I have read that comment too, he said that grizzly is well known in greek weightlifting community so ask someone from greece. Grizzly has cut tendons in both knees, severed triceps and he has torn bicep 2 times. He was a weightlifter and then a powerlifter. After injuries he now does this unconventional stuff and work as a security at a night club named "motel club"

There’s so many different kinds of strength and no strength discipline covers more than 20% of them lol. Grizzly’s injuries forced him to find new ways to train, and as a result he’s the strongest in the world in the specific unconventional movements he trains

It's important to remember that grizzly was a serious weightlifter/powerlifter when he was younger but due to the many injuries he suffered (such as a torn quadricep) he is unable to perform traditional back squats without a box limiting his range of motion and also he can't perform any pressing exercises to train his shoulders which is why he does so many zercher and high pull exercises as they train the shoulders without having to press weight. He is from a poor region of Greece and wasn't able to get medical help for his injuries and despite that he still performs incredible feats of strength that i have never seen replicated by even some of the strongest men in the world. M'lord is truly a specimen that will never be seen again.❤

the weird shrug exercise is so that he can use both his arms and his belly as a surface to hold the weight bar to help distribute the weight evenly, probably to minimize his chances of injury like hernias while lifting that much. doing it that way also allows him to use almost his whole body to lift things instead of an isolated set of muscles. . he can do it that way because he has a large enough belly with a a solid enough muscle mass in it but also enough fat to pad-out and protect the muscle.

It's a zercher shrug. A shrug is literally holding high weight with your arms (usually a dumbbell in each hand) and 'shrugging' your shoulders. Zercher is just a term for supporting a flat bar in each elbow ditch.

I know you’re all joking (respectfully) about him but he’s one of the main reason I started working out. Seeing what he can do motivates me to do better. He frequently reposts stories of his viewers working out when they tag him on instagram which motivates them and other viewers like me. I dream of a day I can be proud enough of my body to tag him. 8:00 Zercher just means the barbell is held in the crooks of the elbows. You can do squats, deadlifts, shrugs, good mornings, front raises, and carries using the zercher variations. They have real benefits, too. Zercher squats help people with long legs make their squats more quad dominant and can help build your front squats even if you're still working on the mobility needed to properly front rack the barbell. Zercher good mornings will work your posterior chain just like normal good mornings but with the added benefit of working your traps and rhomboids at the same time. Zercher carries will work the traps and upper back just like farmers carries but also loads the biceps and recruits more core strength than traditional farmers carries.
