"having abs has nothing to do with core strenght" . this was a great point. thank you for taking the effort to make this informative and fun video. I consider myself to be quite strong (i'm a grappler and I lift heavy) but as I'm short and have some body fat, my abs don't really show, unless my stomach is empty which doesn't really happen that often lol

Let's not forget not everyone is capable of getting a six pack it's genetics it'll range I've seen 3 myself have a real lopsided 4 with that said strong core not worry about a visual six pack is the way to go

I have more fat around my belly but when I wake up and don’t have any bloating you can sort of see how my abs are shaped and my fat works around the area - it’s hard to describe but I am no where near having visible abs it’s just when I’m not bloated I can tense my muscles and u can see how my abs could come through Lmaoo.

I carry my weight in my legs and I've always had abs even at my very biggest. It's the easiest part of me to tone thanks to genetics. But equally, toning my legs is near on impossible!

I like that you bring up the water intake & food manipulation that causes more dramatic appearances of abs. Not only do bodybuilders and models just cut the day before, we typically overload water for an entire week while also cutting calories relatively drastically and then start a water cut 1-2 days out. Even models don't always look like their bodies year round! Such a good thing to speak on in this video!

This was honestly one of my fave videos you've ever done! Abs are the biggest issue for me because it's sooo easy to not use them even in just daily activities. I walk a lot and for years and years I have had an ATP not even realizing it only until I had a herniated disk in my lower back in 2016 (age 26) and had it surgically removed, and since my recovery I have been paying so much more attention to engaging my abs properly and not tilting my pelvis out quite as much but still to this day I do it every day and always catch myself whenever my lower back gets tense which is a very regular thing for me. Would love to see a full ATP training video! Well done Keltie! Love you!

I discovered you a few months ago when my world shattered around me and I was trying to get back into fitness and focus on myself. Your energy is so welcoming and refreshing and because of you I decided to push myself do something that I don’t normally gravitate towards which is trying to get better at running. I had set a goal in February to run/walk a 5k for St. patty’s day. I’m not hitting the numbers like I want to but they are improving. I also find that when I have a bad day I chose to go on the treadmill which was never like me before. I keep trying to tell myself no matter what happens on the 17th whether I get the numbers I want or not I should still be proud for sticking with it. And it’s because of you with all the advice, motivation , and encouragement I get from your videos. Thank you so much ❤️

I just need you to know how much I appreciate the planks part of this video where you explain the different kinds of planks. I'm currently trying to lose weight and haven't exercised in a very long time, so my core strength isn't the best. I always wondered why I had so much trouble holding an rkc plank, and I didn't realize that maybe I'm just not strong enough to do those yet! I tried the elevated elbow plank you showed and found that I was able to do those for much longer and hold the form better, so thank you so much for showing that! Also, I have been watching your channel for a few months now since I started my health journey and wanted to thank you for the content you post. It is a constant reminder that rather than just losing weight, we should always aim for balance. As someone who is very insecure about their appearance, I need to hear that often. Please keep doing what you do!

7 weeks ago I had a big pot belly and now my abs are actually starting to show for the first time in my life!! I can't quite believe it.😄I lost 24 lbs on a keto diet, and reversed the insulin resistance which had been making me look pregnant. (Keto minimises water retention too.) I do 20-40 sit ups every other day, and walk for between 20 mins to 3 hours every day, as well as a few other strength exercises, nothing major though. I wouldn't say I'm particularly fit. My body likes to store most fat on my thighs and bum, so it means that my stomach is starting to look pretty good even though my body fat percentage is still quite high. I'm confident I can get a 6 pack but it will be a little while yet!!

I had an anterior pelvic tilt that I developed through pregnancies to balance out that big baby belly. I didn’t even realize until my butt became non existent and I saw a physiotherapist to find out why. My glutes had atrophied since they weren’t properly engaging and the process to rebuild took a very long time. Posture can effect body composition drastically

As every week: Thanks for taking the time to create such a great video🖤 I used to do gymnastics as a child and when I began to start working out again, I stopped doing „abs“ since I don‘t like my core, when the muscles show. I know that sounds crazy but the muscles „lay“ on top of everything and when I don’t wear a crop top it doesn‘t looks like a nice trained six pack, it looks like a food-baby-belly. That was one of the main reason for me to start with weightlifting, to get more core strength instead of gaining muscles. If it makes sense… Have a nice weekend☺️

I'm one of those who has a strong core but I am older and going through menopause so I carry fat there. Get rid of my fat and I'm certain there is a 6 pack under there. I have to keep a strong core for my back. If I don't keep up with my core exercises my back suffers and I am in terrible pain. So glad you were able to see a difference in your back pain also.

I managed to get the elusive six pack in June 2020. I was writing my master thesis during April, may and June soooo, I didn't have time to snack (I would cook every 2 days a big pan of chicken and vegetables and have French toast for breakfast). No side stuff like rice, nor pasta, nor nothing, sometimes a protein shake between meals. Probably I was consuming around 1300 calories per day (if not less). And my only way to relieve stress was by running at night (because it was kinda weird to spend time outside during the day considering the pandemic had just started) and do abs workouts (12 minutes only). By the time I submitted my paper I had those beautiful abs (and no more period for that matter, yay! Health... or lack of). Good times for sure. I'm not gonna lie, I miss that look. I was sooo tight everywhere, whereas now, 8 kilos later, I'm kinda puffy (but waaay stronger and I eat like 2000 cals, so, I'm not mad about it). Whatever, what was my point? Maybe I didn't even have one to begin with. Yeah well, as you said, abs are surely not the pinnacle of health haha

I will do my ab workouts first thing in the morning(usually after a cup of ☕️... cause coffee! 😛) and so I'm on my living room floor. And sometimes do it 5 days a week, sometimes only 1 or 2. I won't take the time to do it after a hard workout, but first thing in the morning only takes 5 to 8 minutes and is a great way to get oxygen to the brain and heart rate slightly elevated so you function better all day.

As a child, I was pretty active, lots of sports, played outside, climbed trees etc., but my mum noticed that I had weird posture and signed me up for ballett-classes, late Elementary School-Age until my Pre-Teen-Years. It was only a couple of years, but the posture-exercises were forever ingrained into my muscle-memory. I'm in my mid-twenties now and still sometimes catch myself unconcsiously correcting the way I stand or carry myself. Being active isn't equal to building a strong, clean foundation posture-wise. You're doing so good at including not so well known, yet very important information in your video, kuddos , dear Keltie! An After-Thought: I didn't always have the best time dancing in the company - this was early 2000s ballet, harassment and an sometimes unhealthy amount of discipline used to be pretty common back then - but I'm still thankful for the time I spent there, bc it saved me a lot of trouble movement-wise when tackling physically challenging things throughout my life.

My biggest change training my core was that I no longer had pain from a spinal injury I have, and my posture: I didn't have bad posture because I was lazy, but because I didn't have the strength in the necessary muscles, and tenseness in other muscles, which made me slouch. Now, good posture is easy, and my whole back is re-shaped and straigtened out 😊 About the shape vs strength though... I have a personal story. When I gave birth, the nurses asked my husband to help me stay down on the bed, and began berating him when he "lifted me up instead". He wasn't lifting me up - *I* was lifting HIM up. Bqsically, doing crunches with a 165 lbs man!

I love this video so much. I feel like body ideals are so not concrete. They vary around the decade, the culture, the location. Being in the modelling industry has taught me to love the body I am in and not cater to these toxic ideas of what a "womans body should look like". AMAZING VIDEO. I could not agree with the conclusion more 🤞🏽

recently i've gained a tiny bit of belly fat like 3 to 4 pounds on my tummy, i was borderline anorexic before and my body fat percentage was so low, i had "abs" but i was so so extremely weak, recently i've gained a lot of weight but also strength and muscle mass, i've made it from 99 lbs to 115 lbs and i don't see my abs anymore and my tummy sticks out slightly, but the pure strength and endurance i've gotten recently has been just monstrous, i can lift things, i can run, im not out of breath all the time, i can squat, im super high energy. so remember, sometimes abs aren't what you need, sometimes just exercise is all you need. and no im not supporting being fat either, i simply am stating that i would rather personally have a bit of belly fat and be able to use my body effiecently than have no body fat and be stick thin and weak. Oh also , my butt has grown tremendously so maybe that'll get some girls to rethink the way they see gaining weight/abs lol!

That's a great callout to point out that if you happen to store less fat in your center, you'll have an "easier" time shooting for that super defined abs look. Not that abs are ever easy!

Side note: I am shook about the design behind those HIIT class shoes (5:18, and 13:23), the ball springs from the sub-2 marathon work paired with the heel absorbing are the stuff of plyometric dreams. No even a little guilty making space for them next to my Metcons (6, but I have a design for the 7’s, still bitter they changed the branding from NikeID to Nike by you). Gratitude for making the point about body geometry: in American swimming we have the benefit of Misty Hyman & Michael Phelps as pillars of the butterfly, but their geometries are at opposing ends of the spectrum. This can speak to the potential lessons to gleam from how to train & adjust training. Like running gait analysis but for everything else.

I need to sort my life out... terrible way to start of a comment I know. Just got back from the chiro , definitely have bursitis again, have hypermobility, NEED to work on my core again and work around my pain, your video is such an exception to the rule... I'm looking for some resources online until I get to see a physio and nearly EVERYTHING is about getting a 6 pack, or abs and about the aesthetics of it, rather than the postural, health benefits side of it. Thanks for your content, it gives me hope!

Hello, just wanting to know how you fit your leg training in with the push/pull split? Is it basically quads and calves on push day and glutes and hamstrings on pull day? I'd worry that I'd be too fatigued to hit legs effectively on the second day but might just be overthinking it 😂 Ps. Love how honest you are in these challenge videos. It's so refreshing to heat your opinions

Just seeing this & the question about society expecting abs to show fitness really made me sit up. I’m 55 & was a teenager when the fitness craze hit. I had the Jane Fonda workout & did it daily. I also rode my bike constantly & was at the skating rink every weekend. I still didn’t have a six pack. What I did have was a line of definition which to me is more attractive. But if you want to see truly fit before 2000, look at Christie Brinkley in the 80’s. Those were the abs I wanted. Also look at the men. They were fit with flat abs but only body builders had six packs & honestly the only ones you expected to have them.

Thank you for this video and for explaining the reality that a lot of it depends on genetics. i can relate so much to the things you showed, because I guess we have kind of a similar body type. I only started working out intensely about 2 years ago and I always wanted to have abs, but with my suboptimal posture and the distribution of body fat, my abs only start to show when my weight drops below healthy. So, no abs for me, because health>body image

The sadest part about this video is that so much work was put into it and it comtains so much good information, and yet it will receive a fraction of views and likes of what: "get a six pack in 10 days doing this one thing" trash gets every day...
