I Trapped a Banded Racing Pigeon!!! (Plus Pigeon Hunt)

Only way to set up for the pigeon hunt, I stopped in to check on the pigeon traps. We had 2 odd colored birds and a lost racing pigeon! After the days of trying to contact the owner I finally got some information!!

Hi Jordan, we love the back door on your truck........or is it a plank???? The pigeon trapping was brilliant a nice looking homer, shame he lost his way home!! A good pigeon hunt, a good few misses and we lost count on how many shots!! When are we getting some butchery and your farm update at home on everything? Still waiting for the processing of the meat chickens and turkeys. We had a good laugh when you said the sherp would go through everything .... we have just watched Bobby with it stuck in a pond!!!!! Hi Jordan! I am currently planning on trapping pidgeons at the horse barn where I am an instructor. I have trapped pidgeons in the past for university research but always released them after. However, my boss would like me to euthanize the birds and I am unsure of the best way to do this. I've been researching types of poisons but some of them seem really awful, so I was looking into alphachloralose to put them to sleep and perform a cervical dislocation. But I'm not sure I have the skill or the guts to do it, do you have any advice?

Jordan. The black you trapped was young to be training probably. It most likely did not get to Midwest flying(with its wings anyways)birds are sold traded and shipped thru Usps all the time. My advice if you want it keep it. Especially if they don’t register the bands in that club. Shame on them!! And the bird you asked color. In racing pigeons we call them grizzles. But more specific. Tortoise shell.

M8 cheers on your hunts and trapping abilities . I shall bow to the great pigeon trapper , who never lost a bird. ( as the ol saying says " a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush .") My humble opinion in regards the stragler , ship it to the club and chatge them room , board and shipping. If they don't want to pay : then , you're the proud owner of a cool bird. You should get a net gun when you put the later up run towards the side of the flock and shoot it at them and catch a hole bunch more

Hopefully the owner doesn't claim his racing homer. Breed it and cross it with one of your other homers. Racing pigeons are by far the best breed! Get more, dude haha

I really can't understand...how can you keep some pigeons ( you should love them, right?) and at the same time shoot and kill others? That's very contradictory. Think about it! I guess many of the pigeons that are shot while flying don't die right away; they get badly hurt and fall from the sky still alive. That's pretty sad to watch.

Well, I also have chickens, goats, and duck. I really enjoy them and they are delicious as well. But there is a big difference between the wild birds and the domestic birds to me.
