3:18 The triple fall into the SAME EXACT SPOT made me lose it. This was great to watch. Coney with a bunch of confidence at the start as he slowly starts to get worse and more mad at the game. The ending was AMAZING, "LET ME HAVE THIS" as the CPU overtakes him at the last second. The random Triple H music suddenly playing out of no where was a big HUH, like how did that happen. Now if Coney actually wanted to do the impossible challenge that Doug tried to do for hours, of getting first place in all 10 races (which Doug never finished after 8+ hours), then Coney would dread it.

Dougdoug already did this in melee with Failboat with different stages and characters and item setups, so for a twist for the brawl version, I wonder if it'd be possible to switch between brawl and pm/+ or maybe brawl has a randomiser like melee does to change character and move properties

To be fair “old” Mario Kart games didn’t have bikes. They weren’t introduced until Wii.

@@chameleonfoot Outside drifting has the character skid out into the drift (how drifting works in every other mariokart) whereas with inside drifting they cut inwards (which you can see when he starts a drift with funky kong on the flame runner). Inside drift is WAY faster for taking tight corner lines but requires some getting used to. It’s so much better that amongst pro players any outside drifting vehicle is nigh unviable. However, if you don’t have a good feel for it, it’ll take you directly into walls and off cliffs because it turns way harder than you expect it to.

With all that talk at the beginning, I was expecting Coney to be decent. But I was laughing and simultaneously getting increasingly angry when he was doing horribly. He didn't even know inside and outside drift🤣. And giving Baby Mario the shroomba was the cherry on top.

I'm confused why Coney did all Birdo Standard Bike but 1 of the races instead of all 10. It's just weird to me but maybe there was some odd agreement with Twitch Chat. Funky Kong - Flame Runner/Bowser Bike: Doug hated it too but probably just because he was unused to it, so Coney would just have to get used with the inside drift bike in that case. Wario - Wario Bike: Just nice one there. Donkey Kong - Standard Bike: At the very least, it's the same bike even if it isn't Birdo, but I don't know if there's any slight difference between the weight classes' karts and bikes.

4:04 THIS RIGHT HERE. I played a bunch of Mario Kart Wii as a teenager, making my way up to low 9000 VR using exclusively karts (I was a Mario/Wild Wing main, and I also used the Wii Wheel), because the inside drift felt so unnatural. After years of playing 64, Double Dash, and DS this drift method felt so strange that I just never went to the top tier bikes, ever. My karting experience paid off when the bikes were severely nerfed in Mario Kart 8. Now I'm playing the way I like with much better odds against the game's true elite online.

“I suck at using the objectively harder style of drifting and am glad they nerfed it so I can call myself an elite”- Inside Drift Hater. Go back to MKWii right now and actually get used to inside drift. You don’t even need to use Flame Runner or Mach Bike, just use Dolphin Dasher as it serves as good training wheels for inside drifting bikes.

@@infinityheart_tm9270 1) Never called myself an elite, just said I have better odds against the elite in MK8. 2) Returning to a game I never play anymore to play a style that is neither fun to me nor applicable isn't worth my very limited time. 3) Never said I hated inside drift, just said it felt weird and unnatural, and never denigrated those who think otherwise. 4) Drift style difficulty is not objective, but simply a matter of preference. See me after class. ;)

Modern Mario kart Wii gameplay is so reliant on its unique mechanics like Standstill mini turbos or inside drifting bikes that when you see a novice play the game for the first time in years it looks completely alien because they aren’t playing optimally… like the 2% of Mario kart Wii players who played competitively have a chokehold over the perception of the game
