One thing I wonder is if the PR manager knew they were coming prior, and or what they would probably be buying, because you never know if they just topped a box with high value items to make the boxes seem like a greater value than normally, since high praise from big influencers would increase sales.

It seems impressive for us in other countries but retro games are super cheap in Japan, I think because they produce so many copies relative to the population and because collecting isn't a big thing there and people don't have the space to hold on to their old games. For example, you can find SNES RPGs for 1/10th or 1/20th of what the US versions go for.

@@DoomPlague True, I've recently been getting into collecting old games - mostly because the prices are going up and I'm afraid if I don't buy them now all the games I want will be prohibitively expensive in a couple years - and even on ebay you can see huge price differences between the Japanese versions of games and the US versions. I still wonder if their lucky bag was hand-picked by the shop for marketing though lol, if it was a truly random selection of games that weren't selling I would expect a lot more games nobody recognizes or cares about just by raw probability.

@@DoomPlague i think its the exact opposite of what youre saying. It does make sense that they dont have so much space. But i think its because japanese people collect and do so pretty early in a franchise cycle, thus many collectors items are still in good condition and plenty. Old games were mass produced everywhere, but must got stashed away or thrown out. They are kids games in the west but adults enjoyed them in japan too.

@@ge4029 oh we prices in Japan are way lower. That's why these retro shops exist in the first place, because they have an abundance of retro hardware. Also I am not sure how well these would selle over here because region lock was a thing back then so the usability goes way down and they are usually not boxed so the snobbish collectors also won't care about them.

Going through Conner's channel for background noise while I work: it's a tie between Kaho and Chris Broad as my favorite co-hosts on his shenanigans, Meilyne being a close second. They all got great vibes and very funny in their own way: Kaho a very enthusiastic nerd, Chris being silly and brutally honest, and Meilyne with her weird out of pocket trivia and mild teasing. Just made my way to the unboxing and not only is Connor getting some absolutely amazing dope Friggin games and merch, but Kaho absolutely made the unboxings so much more entertaining. Her reactions and knowledge of so many games proves how she’s a legit GAMER through her genuine excitement by simply seeing things as they get revealed to flexing some of her gamer knowledge. Her personality bouncing off of Welsh Man seriously makes these videos so much better. They have complimenting styles.

ngl that video game lucky bag was nuts, if you wanted to buy that at any retro game store i've found 2 or 3 of the better ones would probably be equal or more than the cost of it. also there was some real classics in there.

You'll be hugely surprised at the difference between the retro game market in Japan and elsewhere. Stuff like FF6 aren't rare or worth a lot.

Like Connor said in the video, a lot of these lucky bags are extremely limited in quantity. So they might all be that good, but they are probably really hard to get ahold of normally.

Speaking of which, I hope that the stuffed animals that managed to escape Kaho's fangs eventually wind up mouse's place. Also - should have bought a Rem talisman, to counter the Asuna one lol.
