The 'actual doctor' part I think warrants less emphasis. A lot of studies on traditional medicine can have scientific structure, but may not be translated into English or receive substantial funding. Hemophilia a problem with blood clotting. Your blood is not supposed to clot when it's inside you. Your blood is supposed to clot when it's exposed to air, which is to stop external bleeding. So internal bleeding, whether it be broken blood vessels or just a bruise, shouldn't be problem.
@Zelmel
@Zelmel 20 күн бұрын
@@Steve-xo5pq That's not strictly true, given that people die from internal bleeding all the time. It just means that the clotting happens in a different way (so that you don't constantly throw clots and die from every bruise), but the blood flow still needs to be stopped or you die. It's literally one of the main things people with more severe hemophilia have to look out for (or people with high dose blood thinners).

just because something "isn't backed up by science" doesn't mean it's instantly an illegitimate form of therapy, a LOT of things believed to be "backed up with science" these days that weren't supported or believed in back in the day, purely because we just didn't have the "proper scientific knowledge" to support it, and i'm willing to bet this WILL continue to be the case for as long as humans exist, every once in a while new studies come out to either confirm or refute older ewer practices, it's a field full of theories to begin with, so how can you be so sure that what we "know for sure" now, won't only get refuted in the future, but illegalized from how harmful it is! i mean heck, back in the day they used freakin Uranium or Lead in a lot of things, and that was considered normal, but now we know it's harmful, and what about all these "chemicals" in our foods these days, i swear it feels like every day i read or hear that something "science" almost swore by 10 years ago and was in almost everything we consumed, is an extremely harmful substance nowadays! it's just a super fickle subject to COMPLETELY rely on science in, since again, it's not a 100% field of knowledge even in this day and age of humanity. (P.S i wrote all this in a hurry, so my apologies if there were any grammatical errors)

Cupping is still quite popular in central and eastern Europe. It's called "setting bubbles" here in Poland. It's not something you do recreationally at a spa though. You'd use it when you have a heavy cold or a flu for example. And not as an alternative for actual medicine, just something to help the healing process along. Does it work? No idea. But my mother would probably swear that it does. I know she had it done a few times in her life and always said that it helped her. But the guy in the video really does give serious scammer vibes. And adding acupuncture on top of it? That's just overkill. Bubble marks hurt.

@@amplifier464 I cant clarify on the charity part, but Connor recently did say that he was accepting any sponsors for YT videos because he loses more money than he makes making them. Apparently there are times when Connor will spend upwards of $10k making a single YT video and this has to do with not just the cost of the things hes paying for in the video like everything in these spas in this video, but also for production, like paying the film crew, editors, travel costs, etc. So Connor can end up losing more money making these video than he actual makes from them unless they do super well. Connor also said he has a stockpile of YT videos already done and just sitting there because he has been waiting for sponsorships before he puts them out because if he puts them out because without one he will have essentially spent thousands and made almost nothing. Which is why he said hes pretty much willing to accept any sponsors. Its also why hes been streaming and playing games more because thats been making him more money as of late than the YT videos.

i know this video was for entertainment purposes, but if you go to a spa/clinic where they do these kinds of procedures and the person doing the treatment doesn't react to you saying you're in pain, you should leave. i know when you pay money for a service you don't want to leave without completing it, but it's not worth seriously hurting yourself over. when i was a kid, i went to a chiropractor regularly for back pain, and i wish so badly that i'd been taught to advocate for myself in this kind of situation. i can't prove it, of course, as this was decades ago, but i'm pretty sure that the regular neck "adjustments" fucked up my muscles and contributed to the chronic, debilitating headaches i've suffered for years. i straight-up didn't realize until a couple years ago that the neck adjustments weren't supposed to give me an immediate splitting headache because i had headaches then, too, and thought it was normal for the adjustments to temporarily aggravate them. if something feels off or painful during a beauty/health treatment, speak up.

That's the point of it, you put them in places where the nerves don't register them as an intruder and a wound so that they can safely irritate your body a bit, forcing action. It's kinda like slapping your checks for better blood flow which is supposed to help you with your skin. If it properly hurts then it's done wrong.

I imagine acupuncture stimulates the nerves and blood flow to the skin. That isn't nothing, perhaps not medically significant in terms of actually treating an issue, but can perhaps alleviate some issues for a short time.

@@djinnxx7050 I have a ''bed of nails'' with plastic spikes that I lay on about every other night. While people claim it has mystic healing properties and gets rid of ''toxins'' and etc. as it is associated with eastern medicine, I believe none of that and the reason I lay on it is beacuse it helps me relax so I can fall asleep. I assume it does something with blood flow beacuse it makes the back go red and become sore, and it makes me feel really calm. This can also distract you from symptoms of back pain. I imagine that acupuncture works in a similiar way since it is also essentialy sticking you with a bunch of needles, though the bed of nails doesn't pierce the skin. I don't need to know how the bed of nails works to know that it makes me feel calm and can alleviate pain, but I would need some pretty substantial evidence to believe that it has any health benefits beyond that.

It was a bit of a red flag that the doctor said that cupping would be more painful than acupuncture. I'm sure its different for everyone, but from what I heard, cupping isn't supposed to be painful. Maybe mildly uncomfortable, but for the most part it shouldn't actually hurt, even with the bruising from the cups. edit: on top of the many other red flags throughout. And I'm not against Eastern medicine, but his execution is questionable.

I’ve gone for cupping (and acupuncture) 3 times for my injured back and the first time cupping was shockingly painful. The blood circles from the 1st time were insanely purple. But consequent sessions, the circles weren’t as purple and the sides of my hips didn’t even come out bruised after the 3rd session. It’s an interesting progression. I think the theory for cupping is drawing blood to certain areas encourages oxygen delivery and can help with healing. But I definitely don’t believe in the ‘evil’ that this particular doc said was in Connor’s back. And after that, I became skeptical of his needle placement. I loved the acupuncture cuz she hooked the needles up to electricity to generate heat and my back and hips always felt better after. But then my doc was a Sze Chuan Acupuncture doctor from China and had a good rep. But each session can get real expensive for me, SGD50 - SGD65 so I stopped going cuz I had to prioritise other expenses. I would love to go back.

when i saw the guy wrenching their necks around i was like !!!! i'm not against chiropractics or eastern medicine, but you need to be REALLY careful with your neck. one wrong twist can literally paralyze you, tear your muscles and cause lifelong debilitating headaches, and a host of other serious side effects. i am begging anyone who gets alternative medical treatments to NEVER let anyone mess with your neck unless they're a licensed physiotherapist specializing in head/neck care. obviously nothing bad happened here, but you REALLY don't want to risk it. trust me.

The first one actuly looks kinda relaxing, I don't know if it helps with stiffness but I can see it helping emotional. As for Acupuncture it shouldn't hurt, I had it done a couple of times after an injury. Sometimes the lady placed it in a pore that caused it pain but I would then tell her and she would take it out and fix it. She was very clear that it SHOULD NOT HURT. I don't know about other places but they should have asked about your health and history. I did acupuncture, massage and physical therapy to help me recover. Acupuncture helped me get some much needed rest but the pain came back in a day, but hey at least I could sleep in peace for a day. I would not try that dirt spa lol

It was great having a doctor's perspective as well, I've been trying to help my friend in getting acupuncture since she does have chronic pain, but since the US isn't into paying for "woo" therapy yet it's all outta pocket cash.
