Such a great video! To live a routine or pattern of someone that inspires you makes you feel a bit closer to them, definitely the only way to see what makes them tick, what makes them great. If I was to chose I would like to see John F. Kennedy's routine and Tina Guo's. Very different I know, but I've picked JFK, though I'm not political, it amazes me that being from the UK I know more about American Presidents than British Prime ministers (😅) and he's routine must be fascinating (especially the day time naps). Tina Guo because she's created something different in music by mixing Classical with Metal. I not overly into heavy metal but I listen to a lot of film soundtracks and she's inspired me to be try something different, especially if no one else has done it before. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLOpfJCJsKedYYE.html

I read Maya Angelou, I click IMMEDIATELY. I fell in love with Maya in middle school, & 'Letters to my daughter' which my dad bought for me, is one of the books I keep coming back to. I remember drawing a bad portrait of her when I was 15, and crying when I found out she passed. I was an immigrants' daughter in Saudi Arabia, and didn't share many of her experiences. But she struck something within me, nevertheless. As a new Christian, it was inspiring to look back and see how she loved like Our Creator did, and the prayer she said the day her son got into a car crash, and the miracle that followed. Her journey took a whole new meaning for me recently. I'm soo glad you enjoy her works too, Nathaniel.

I’m an old girl and many years ago I was reading James Baldwin’s book Giovanni Room on the bus. A white guy saw that and we discussed all things Baldwin. He went from one book to the next with enthusiasm. I can still feel how refreshing it was to experience that. I hated when he got off the bus. As a Black woman, that was my first time experiencing that. It was around 1995-96. Now this in 2021.🤗

I remember back then I wanted to say "Nathaniel, you look exactly like one of those Fayum mummy portraits!" (I'm part Egyptian) but decided I'd be a silent partner instead. When I moved to Paris (from London where I live) and you followed a couple years later I thought I'd ask to meet for a coffee (although I drink tea - English upriniging) but decided I'd be an invisible partner instead. But you had to go and big up Maya Angelou and donate money to good black causes and I had no choice but to come out of my shell finally and give you an e-hug. You're a dear unrealised friend and I appreciate you. Hyden. ✨

I don't know this video kinda left me feeling empty, like what did he actually learn and take away from the daily routine. My husband and I both work from home and it can be so difficult to focus at times and we don't even have children. Working in solitude can be beautiful, especially if you have trouble with distractions. While I can't afford to work in a hotel room every day, the biggest takeaway from her routine for me is to find a quiet place away from others for a period of time. I like how she commented that it was her going to work. For writers, a huge trap is waiting for creativity to hit. I did that and it didn't hit for 10 years. So I think it's great that she treats it like a job- show up regardless of how you feel. It was less about inspiration and more about self-discipline which is something I struggle with. Thank you for sharing this!

I love that you put in the effort to try to live her daily routine and that you shared it. Thank you for all the work that you put into this. I too love simplicity. It is how I prefer to live my life. I love to think and be in my own thoughts so Maya's routine is beautiful to me.

Nathaniel this was one of your best videos. I loved the use of the phone alarm each day really driving home Maya's disciplined approach to creating her art. I'm in the thought phase of creating my own channel and you are an inspiration because your content is almost always deeper and gives the viewer insight into the commonality of our human condition. Thank you sir.

Thank you for this; it turned out to be one of the videos you've done that I liked best. Remarkable woman. You showing part of her "routine", with clips, was so well done; you yourself seemed so relaxed and excited too, that I simply wanted to comment

I really enjoyed this video Nathaniel! Cool that you inspire younger generations than my own to get to know writers and artists like Maya Angelou. As to her routine: due to health reasons I only work from 8/9 a.m. to 14:00 pm and it's really great. You can spend the rest of the day resting, spending time with loved ones, walking etc.
