In America where I am usually a Large, Japan sizes their clothing so ruthlessly skinny that I sometimes go up to 2XL or 3XL. In this haul video, I'll be trying big-smol clothing sizes meant for smol Asian bodies on my not-so-smol body. Let's see how Japanese fashion fits on dem b00bas

When I've been in Japan I've found some of the nicest street wear etc that are my ideal style... but im 193cm tall, really broad and I like a longer line/looser fit... nothing I like in Japan is the right size for me XD. IF I'm lucky enough to find things I like in xxl or even xxxl in Japan it ends up being too short and still way too tight on my shoulders because of how ruthless Japan sizing is hahaha

When I was studying abroad I absolutely avoided looking at clothing stores at all cost just because I knew for a fact even the “plus sized” clothing wouldn’t fit me in the slightest. I think the only thing that did fit me when I went shopping with a friend was a jacket intended to be oversized on the wearer, and I passed on it because it was like $150. I actually lost a fair bit of weight while I was there and I still wouldn’t have fit most of the clothes when I left. I’m glad they’ve gotten a bit more accessible since I was there, even if it’s for style purposes. Hopefully some of the style options will become more accessible eventually too.

@obiwanjabroniX: or, perhaps consider, sometimes people want to buy clothes that they can wear when they travel elsewhere, and that’s perfectly valid of them? 🙂 There’s a difference between being adamant that someone has to be accommodating to you, and simply wanting to be accommodated to. I did my due diligence and brought sufficient amount of clothes for the half year I was there, right down to bringing things I wouldn’t typically wear just in case I wanted some variety, and ensured I knew what websites I could order clothes from if something urgent happened. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to buy clothing when you visit a new place, and there’s especially nothing wrong with clothing stores recognizing a market for a specific size or style and accommodating to that. I would like to hope it helps make plus sized clothing more common place, and by extension seeing them around more regularly helps people be more accepting of those who wear them, whether for style or out of necessity.

This is exactly why i learned to sew. I'm not a big girl, but i do have weird body proportions, and i tend to like things that aren't in fashion, so I just make it myself. Also Aki, you're gorgeous, don't let not fitting clothes put you down! It sucks that of the rack clothing don't really flatter many people. My tip is either get it custom made (sadly very expensive), altered, or learn how to sew, that way you do get the really cute fitting outfits.

Idk about dude sizes but I typically have this problem in plus sizes because my hip size is very large in comparison to my waist so if I want it to fit my ass I have to size up and then have all this flabby fabric around my waist 🙃 Fast fashion is not forgiving if you have "atypical" body proportions.

Most Asian companies and high end Haute Couture brands don't make bigger sizes because they want their brands be aspirations, rather than availability. It sucks when I can't even find good fitting bras that don't look like maternity or Kevlar armor that also isn't pink or tan.

You look great Aki and I liked that black top at the end on you! Remember, we have all the time in the world to look at ourselves to find things we think looks bad but others don't spend that much time or get that close to see we what we see. They may not even agree with what we think as "bad" on ourselves. My favorite thing to remind myself is that anyone who is judging others just on appearance is a crap person who isn't worth your time or head space. You look great! You look happy and healthy and I'm loving that for you! Luv ya girlie ❤

Having a Cup E to F in Germany can also be difficult but makeable also for cute stuff. But when the wife of my brother came to visit us from peru she flew back with four new bras in her suitcase. She also told us that in peru it feels like all the cute bras are only for small sizes and especially if you have "the body of a mom" (as she called it) you will never find something sexy. It gives her and also me the feeling like in this size, age or moment of life you are not sexy and thats why there is no cute underwear needed or sold in stores -.-

Clothing is one thing why i'm glad i don't live in asia. I am pretty slim, but with typical slavic wide hips, so it is often hell to find fitting clothing even here Recently went shopping for skirts/dresses and if they fit my waist i am not able to pull them any lower over my legs, so i often sew my clothing or have to wear men's pants

As a Japanese person who leans more “mid size” when taking JP sizes into consideration, I’ve figured there’s different “tiers” to plus size and average size. And this mainly from years of personal experiences from traveling to Japan a lot and shopping. The last year I went I wasn’t particularly healthy (barely exercised and ate more processed food at the time) I still somehow found clothes that fit me at those designer shops in Ginza. As along as it’s made from stretchy material and has elastic bands, I can usually fit *something*.

Aki, we really like you because you are a kind, funny and generally sweet person. I believe that if you really like being a little smaller, there's nothing wrong with losing some weight and generally getting fitter (as you are already doing with crossfit). With that said, you can get a long way by eating smart, moving more throughout the day and by getting to know how to enjoy the things that you like while also maintaining a balanced lifestyle. In my journey I managed to go from a skinny guy to more muscular. The confidence and happiness you get by seeing your ideal body on yourself is definitely worth the discipline. ✌️❤

I just got back from Japan. I'm an hourglass figure and am only like a size 6-8 in bottoms in American sizes, usually a large or extra large in Asian sizes. However, I went to a few trendy stores that only go up to a medium in Japanese sizing. It was such a bummer! I could usually fit the tops, but the bottoms were a straight NO! 🙅🏼‍♀️ Definitely not fitting over these hips and thighs. 😂 I do absolutely LOVE Aimerfeel bras though. I actually order them to the US because of their FGH line.

This is my biggest struggle too especially since I gained some weight from being in a happy relationship with my bf for almost 6 years. When we went back to Japan last year, I could barely fit in the biggest sizes and i definitely couldnt fit in the one-size unless they are made oversized... It sucks because my only option for cute clothes that dont cost 200$ for a skirt is shein :\ I learned that my bust in Japan was a L, so for tops and dresses with a flowy skirt I can fit. But everything else is truly a struggle... Ive also had every single thought youve expressed in this video everytime I go shopping for clothes

This actually makes me feel so much better because I live in the US, but there are literally no cute clothes for plus people. I seriously just try to "make it work." I also have the most annoying hip dips on planet earth, to the point where I'm a different size wherever I go. It makes me feel better that at least some stores are improving :') Edit: Well, there are, but they're cheaply made and will only last you a little while
