@@minori7126 You are doing well for a beginner. I have been crocheting consistently for about 18 years. and my first project was a baby blanket that ended up very uneven. A hint for when you are crocheting to meet a gauge if you crochet tightly go up a hook size to meet the gauge and if you crochet loosely go down a hook size.
@ImTheSeagull
@ImTheSeagull 4 ай бұрын
@@minori7126Definitely give a break for your hands. I work with 3 ply which is fairly small, and isn’t as soft as 8 or 10 ply yarn, so I actually get yarn burn on both index fingers and it hurts so bad! It’s also very good to give your wrists, back, neck and your eyes a break. For your eyes do the 20-20 method; after 20 minutes of crocheting, look up and around and at things in the distance for 20 seconds otherwise you can develop some pretty bad problems with your eyes.

Hi Minori, I want to give you a tip: if you crochet in the round, like with your strawberry, you can use a piece of string in a different color to guide along between your rounds. So, when you finish a round, you can use your string to mark your new round. That way you know where you started and ended. You could also use a stitchmarker, but I personally prefer a piece of string because that’s easier for me.
@minori7126

My mom is a pro crocheter/knitter and she tried to teach me multiple times thorough my life, but I struggled to understand the directions. I kind of got determined after seeing your video, sat my mum to it and learned how to chain stitch, so at least I can make a noodle. :D Fast forward to this weekend when I finally understood why my magic ring won't close and cranked out small toys for my cats in 3 afternoons. It is such a relaxing hobby, and you are doing definitely way better than I did first! Thanks for motivating me to crash through my "yarn block" and to be able to learn a new life skill!

Hey Minori, Here's A Helpful Tip : When you have some larger than normal holes in the project you're working on, just use some same colored Thread🧵 & simply sow the holes closed with a few basic stitches & you'll even Forget that they're in there & No One Will Ever Notice, Premise ! 😁 Hope this little Tip helps. - Cheers From 🇨🇦 🙋🏻‍♀️

The light in your tent when you went camping....so cool!! The area reminded me of when I went camping with my grandparents when I was a teenager! Crochet [and knitting] just takes practice! My mom taught me to crochet, and at first I had a small ball of yarn and a hook...would crochet until the ball ran out, unravel the work, and do it all over again. Really good practice! As for that uneven edge...no worries, it's really easy to end up with that, heck, I've been crocheting for a long time [roughly 40 years, if I'm remembering correctly when I first learned...] and STILL get that problem occasionally. The best thing about crochet is that it's really easy to frog [pulling the stitches out] back to where you made a mistake, fix it, and keep going! Your hats are amazing, you're definitely getting the hang of it!

Ty for sharing your journey in trying something new. I have been crocheting now for some 30 odd yrs & I still am so so, w/SOOO much to learn still. I just use to make blankets/Afghans but then starting venturing into beanies, made my 1st ever amigurumi, 1st ever tapestry, etc. Practice makes better, as you stated. I appreciate your mindset & outlook, along w/you letting know everyone that failures will happen but that those failures are a part of the growth in learning something new. Enjoy your content. Crocheting as I watch this! My grandpa taught me when I was 7 years old and I continued that granny square he helped me start for 4 years lol. I dropped it when I was a teen but I picked it back up last year and I'm so glad I did! I've made two sweaters, a cardigan, many plushies and bandanas. I'm now teaching my little brother; he wanted to make plushies! His first projected wasn't perfect but it was really good for someone who didn't even know what a stitch was lol

I also started 2 or 3 mouths ago And one thing I found in much easier is that instead of working on the project and watching video tutorials at the same time I write the pattern and start working and when I don't understand something I go back to it Also, instead of working on a big project and using big sized hook that takes time and will hurt your hands and wrists especially for a beginner , I advise you to work on small, normal siz things like keychains For me, I made cats rabbits and bears and other cute things For you to train your hands and to know more stitches And I hope you the best in your journey ❤❤❤

You did a great job, when I first started to crochet my projects weren’t so great until I just started to learn the techniques and patterns, I feel like just learning the basics helped a lot like, increasing, decreasing, chaining,single crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet are great to learn as a beginner, i would crochet a lot until I kinda just quit crocheting because I was going thru some stuff after being in a dark place idk I picked crochet up again and now I’m like a pro and I get my stiches even and there’s no more gaps, you’ll began to notice some great changes in your crochet projects in abt like 3 months, I recommend using a hook size smaller than the yarn is recommending, for exp: the yarn says to use a 9mm, I would prefer a 8.5mm just to secure it for there not to be and gaps.

Lovely work! I've been doing this for over half a century. I've taught a few people over the decades, and it pleases me to see people enjoying crocheting nifty things. Never stop! 🧶

The photo of your dog is hilarious, they're a head floating in a pile of hair! So cute! I can't decide if they look like a mascot head sitting on top of the lower costume without its human or if they look like the creation of an artist who's very good at face anatomy, but hasn't learned to paint bodies. Wow! I can't believe you made that in a day as a beginner,. My grandmother made a structured fedora style bubble hat as one of her 1st projects in that same burgundy color, so practice really does make progress. I'll have to raid her closet for that hat. I hope she still has it. Keep your1st projects, who knows your future descendants may treasure them My grandmother made that hat long before I was born & as a child I admired it greatly never realizing she'd made it until decades later.

I'm primarily a knitter (been doing it on and off for 20 years) and taught myself to crochet 10 years ago. Being left handed it took me forever to master the basics but I love to do both.

This video was the best ever. As a mum I can’t help feeling so proud of you making your hats! And my kids have a good saying from school: “practice makes progress”. Which I thought you might like 😊

You're amazing Minori. You're motivating soooo many people around the world 💕. The hats turned great and the strawberries are so cute especially the earrings and watching that camping site made me want to go there too.

As an avid crocheter, it's so exciting seeing you crochet and the progress you made in a week! My first crochet project was a total disaster, but it's still my Teddy. Now my biggest project was an 8 foot (no joke) long dragon who takes up my full sized bed. XD I'm so excited to see where your crocheting adventure takes you! Also can't wait to see what plush you make. ;)

I’m a crocheter and I have a tip for perfect hat. First measure around your head,then divide it by 2. And use it for the amount of chains in the beginning. For example let’s say my head around is 40cm and I divide it by 2 and it becomes 20cm, so at the beginning I chain until 20cm and it would be perfect. I hope it helped someone somewhere. Last year my aunt gave me that tip so I wanted to share it. Thanks❤❤😊
