I try to hike a 3 day trek from home to the border between Switzerland and Germany in one day.

I wanted to see if I can walk from home all the way to the border between Switzerland and Germany. First I thought of doing that in three days but I decided to travel light instead and challenge myself by doing that route in just one day. I followed the Jakobsweg/road to Santiago or in my case road away from Santiago. It was very cold! What a day...
Some of the gear in this video:
Vivobarefoot Tracker FG
Some sort of "On" shoe
Deuter Futura 36l (That backpack was actually too big but it's the smallest I own with hip belt pockets for camera stuff.)
GPS Watch: Garmin Fenix 3
If you want to know more about a piece of my equipment, feel free to mention it in the comments. Maybe I will make a video about it.

I genuinely have no idea how to understand this much commitment in bad, snowy and cold weather. MASSIVE props to you. Cannot wait to see more.

very nice video Andy. You don't avoid any problem. Shoes also encourage me also to walk more on the heel than the forefoot. When I walk barefoot, I automatically walk much more on the forefoot to avoid the sharp stones a bit, or to feel them less hard. You also have 'barefoot socks', don't you? They also encourage me to walk more on the forefoot. But of course there shouldn't be that much snow. The actual walking barefoot 'without anything on the feet helps me the most to walk on the forefoot. And our foot is made in such a way that all the bones in that foot best absorb the shocks when we walk on the forefoot. No pain in the knees, pelvis and back because all shocks are absorbed in the forefoot. Just do it very often, always barefoot indoors, but also walking barefoot outside in the city. In addition to the inflammation that you may no longer have because you walk on the forefoot, your foot will also get used to the cold more easily. I still often have cold feet, but I've gotten used to it. and as wim hof (iceman) says: it's all in the mind. Congratulations on your wonderful videos. Very inspiring!

39km is still very impressive! Most I've done in a day is more like 30. Recently I did two 25km days and I was really done at the end of both of them. Are you familiar with the KZfaqr "Darwin on the trail"? I think he managed an 80km day while through-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail - but, he's in very good shape, and he'd been hiking everyday for months leading up to that high-km day on very flat terrain. There aren't many places here in Canada that are transit-accessible where you can do long hikes like this that don't involve a lot of walking along public roads, unfortunately. I'm very jealous of the swiss hiking routes network, and the public transportation system that makes it accessible!

Yes I know his channel but haven't seen that video yet. 80km is impressive, especially when he's been walking the day before and the day after as well! When I hike across Switzerland this summer I intend to hike about 20 to 25 km a day as well. But we will see if I can do that for two weeks in a row. Otherwise it will take a few day more to walk that distance.
