I love hiking barefoot in the forest after it has been raining. The forest floor is soft and damp even muddy with occasional mud puddles.

It's your own fault. Mine makes plenty of sparks when I do the striking at the right angle and pressure and when I use the tinder coils that come with the fire ant set I can always start a fire with 1 strike. So it's a great set when used right.

Cool video, makes me want to try out camping in the winter as well as the summer! I'm looking at getting the same hammock and I'm trying to decide between the normal and "XL" version, which version do you have and which would you reccomend for someone who's 175cm?

We seem to share a preference in footwear. I have the Tracker 2 FGs and the Primus Lite SGs. Only my Trackers are the obsidian colourway. Sucks your injury took so long to heal. I use boot polish on my Trackers, and I haven't had any issues with water permeation myself. I use a matte black wet weather paste that works well. I also really like Saphir Beaute Du Cuir, it's a French polish that includes some dye, so it restores the colour. I find the Primus Lite Soft Grounds well suited to field sports. I use them anywhere I would have used cleats before, so baseball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, stuff like that. I think, if you haven't found them already, that the Vivobarefoot Magnus' may suit your desire for something between the tracker and Primus SG. Your trails look awesome. Happy hiking.

I cant be bothered wearing or buying big boots again. I have minimalist trainers and clogs/crocks now. to many roads here (for now) to go barefoot all the time as I am not used to it. the only reason I will keep something to cover my feet is that I burnt my bare feet on the tarmac a few years ago...

In New Zealand, its normal for us to go barefoot. I went to school barefoot and so did most of my friends. In high school it was a bit difficult because we had to wear uniforms, but I would usually take my shoes and socks off after school. Work is somewhat of a problem though, as I work at a corporate office so you have to wear shirt, tie, pants and dress shoes. Hate it!!, but there is casual Fridays. I try to go barefoot as much as I can...its natural to us

This is wonderful. Congratulations ! I was born (in 1959) to live barefoot. In fact, walking barefoot is natural, so normal. Humans have evolved barefoot and the feet are well-equipped to handle any problems they might encounter on the ground. Aside from accidentally stepping onto something that might be painful (e.g. a Lego) you’ll be fine. In fact, it’s much healthier to go barefoot, than to let your foot sweat inside your shoe, creating a dark, damp and warm environment, perfect for the growth of bacteria and fungi. Aside from that, your average modern shoe is too narrow for the human foot, meaning it will compress and eventually deform your foot causing all kinds of issues. - And in fact, "Going barefoot is the gentlest way of walking and can symbolise a way of living - being authentic, vulnerable, sensitive to our surroundings. It’s the feeling of enjoying warm sand beneath our toes, or carefully making our way over sharp rocks in the darkness. It’s a way of living that has the lightest impact, removing the barrier between us and nature".- Adele Coombs, “Barefoot Dreaming” 🌲🌲🌲🦶🏼🦶🏼🌄🕊 Sincerely, Dinu, barefoot hiker from Romania.

That's why I prefer to have the Firefly (replaces the toothpick) instead of the FireAnt. It's longer and more sturdy and the corkscrew now has space for a double load of tinder.

Keep going MyOutdoorAdventure. With practice you will be able to run for hours barefoot. A few things that will help: Walk, don't run, on concrete. Believe me. It will damage your ankles. Start with dirt, mud, vegetation, sand. If it means going 'off path' so be it. You will discover so much more about your beautiful country if you interact with it this way. Check it out. Previously invisible paths will become obvious once you leave the man-made path. In addition to the changes in skin density and pain thresholds, running barefoot will, with practice, result in profound changes in the musculature of your feet. Your big toe will become much stronger, and more thumb-like. Sounds a bit weird, I know. Eventually, you'll come to realise how disabled our species has become. All for now. Thanks for posting the video.

It would be better to keep the quilt on the top. This way the loft of the down is not lost. It is pretty easy to compress the quilt inside of a sealed sleeping bag.

That insole is NOT good for warmth at all. I have no idea why vivo advertise as such. I had to borrow insoles from a Whitten runner shoe for my feet to stay warm. And they barely did with that. I love the 'barefoot' concept, but i find the vivos barely fit my foot shape and width. We shall see if they bust out like my other shoes do. My only chance for a shoe to fit widthwise is a muckluck, and now making my own shoes to fit me properly. No more $$$$ spent on over advertised hype.

The trekker, trailmaster, soldier 08 is a fine pocket knife for sure every thing you really need in a utility knife? These things are tough as hell and although lock knives are illegal in most of Europe it is essential for safety in the great outdoors? Could this knife be the best field folding knife in the world??

I think everyone sleeps so differently it is difficult to know how your bag combination will work until you try it. My approach is opposite of yours, i try to get as cold as possible before zipping up the bag. Also important to be as dry as possible with fresh under clothes and prevent sweating during the night. Also keeping an empty bottle in the tent is handy for all of the hot drinks consumed in the evening.

I wore my magna forest esc on a 8 day trek and realized they were too narrow and developed some corns and callous on outside of pinky toe. It’s a shame becuase I love them and are very well built. I ordered the tracker to see if they are wider. Not sure why the Vivo shoes are so narrow when they are suppose to allow the feet to expand normally. Been wearing the primus trail for over a year and love them, wear them everyday as my main sneaker just wish they were wider in the front area.

Hey, the same thing happened to me with Burpees... I wore normal shoes the whole time before generally but now I have bearfoot shoes. I heard from my Doc, that Barefoot shoes would be great for healing and that I need to get more movement and strength back into the toe. I don't get why you couldn't use them anymore? Maybe when the injury is really fresh you shouldn't but otherwise ?
