I had no idea you could push the handle down to open those toolboxes - I've been opening them by pulling the top compartments for years!

Returning to your shop and turning something into a barbeque must be your happy place. After weeks and months of being well outside of your comfort zone by working on your old house (and it is awesome that you have the courage to do so in such a public way!) Curiously, I am about to go full "Laura Kampf" and build a rolling barbeque/small fire pit for my patio out of a cut down 55 gallon drum.

This is a great use for the tool box! I totally agree that if something is worthless to you personally, you should just modify and repurpose it in whatever way you want to make it fit your needs ;)

This is a fantastic idea. I've accumulated a lot of toolboxes with these cantilevered trays. Most are too heavy to use with tools. Oh and I agree with @Lisa Cravens-Brown - the acorn nut feet are a great touch. Again an awesome idea and video. Thanks for posting and thumbs way up.

If you try this at home: I do think it's better to 'cook off' the heat resistant paint before preparing food. I'd also go with stainless fasteners.

I am today’s year old (35) when I learned you do not have to individually open every step of the toolbox 😱😱 35 years it took me to realise/see you doing it the right way And I’m from the Netherlands, we have these everywhere

I prefer those style of toolboxes because you can see all of your tools when they're open and by grabbing the handle it will close reducing spilling your tools everywhere. They are heavy when fully loaded, but that's just another feature to make you stronger.

Next - Portable tool box bar! Tequila, shot glasses, lime wedges, salt, beer chasers, and timer alarm so you don’t burn your bbq while the bar is open. I can feel that vibe all the way to 🇨🇦. Smudo seemed very impressed so you know this is a winner.

OK. That's brilliant! I had my doubts when the video started, but you did it! Not only is your creativity impressive, but your skill at successfully making the idea happen is equally impressive. (I was happy to see what you chose to grill) Those are very cool tool boxes, by the way. I would love to have one for art supplies. Here in the U.S. I've never seen one like that.

This is such a good up-cycle of the toolbox. I totally know what you mean about them being too heavy when loaded with tools. Thanks and keep making amazing videos that are an inspiration for those of us who are inclined to think out of the box (or toolbox!)

What a great idea, that looks like the ideal BBQ for a campervan as you can store your charcoal, firelighters, cooking tools etc in it when you're on the road.

Very nice idea indeed! You could even adapt the grilltype to the food you want to cook. I.e a plate for meat or fish, a metal sheet with holes for vegetables… that way you wouldn‘t even need aluminium
