Did that mount come with that hanging light? I've been looking for a new light setup but I like the way that light isn't attached or sitting on the tank.

You can make salad out of the sweet potato leaves. Just blanch it. For the dressing you can use apple cider vinegar with some honey or sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper to taste. You can also add some diced onions and tomatoes for texture. It's perfect with grilled chicken. Now I'm hungry.. Hahaha!

Stores put root inhibitor on store bought potatoes to extend the life of the potatoe. Try with an organic one

I have grown sweet potatoes in my tanks. I usally use the slips not the potatoes themselves. As a further experiment, once you get a good runner peg it to some soil.

I grew a sweet potato once in my aqaurium. It was awesome and had a dense root system in the tank and purple vines and leaves on the outside

That's tight, ya it seems like one of the best ways to get crazy foliage, I just wonder how bad the clean up is after its attached itself to your walls for 6 months...

Great video. I never thought of sweet potato. What a lovely idea to get rid those pesky, unwanted snails. I had a bunch of them come in on a floating plant. (Bladder snails)

I have a few sweet tater vines growing in some vases at the moment, just for the look, and 2 out of 3 sprouted months ago and are growing like crazy, but the last one is still just being a potato. I know that they give them growth preventatives so they don't sprout during shipment, which is probably why it's not growing. If that's the case for the ones you have, do you know if the treatment can be harmful to the enviroment in the aquarium?

I only root the vine slips ( that I took from the potato ) in the tank, but I will never put the actual "potato" in the tank - they can rot, thus polluting the water and killing your fish.. ☠☠

lol , i happen to grow it the same way , what interesting you have it so deep in , while mine was 1/4 in water, it died off when i sink it 1/2 in , also there a purple leaf species , might try again when i get that ,looks more cooler

You stressed the plant, that's all. (I imagine) give it some time to bounce back, clean out the dead and then give it another ammonia test.

you need to use fertilizer water to grow them. All potatoes are grown in fertilize soil dude.

From my understanding plants can absorb ammonia directly. Since no other living organisms in there it shouldn't affect it

Ya i mean the plant will def prefer nh3, but typically people are battling nitrate, thats what i wanted to look at :)

instead of using the whole sweet potato I just cut about an inch off the end and set it cut side down in the top of a HOB the roots will flow out into the tank and the vines grow up and all over the place. this way you get to eat the rest of the potato ..... also this is how I get slips to plant more sweet potatoes.
