Despite the poor season in terms of wins, I really hope you return to Hartford Athletic for the next season. We really enjoyed having you at the club. Also, despite underperforming, you brought a lot of intangibles to the team when you played. I watched you play against Pittsburgh Riverhounds with some of my family and we absolutely loved it. You guys fought on till the end. You brought the energy and you, Matt, scored a goal to help bring the team back. You are a true professional and you give it your all and play smart!

I understand how you feel Matt. My last season in Latvia I felt like I had underperformed, I was playing out of position and had a few injuries. But either way I didn’t score as many goals or have as many assists as I wanted. But the important thing is to keep training and soldiering on. Regardless of your position you show your dedication and talent. So keep fighting you got this 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

I even feel like I cannot live a minimal, efficient routine-based life without watching your videos regularly. That’s why I am watching your videos back from the start of the channel. Still find them so good even when the image quality cannot match these days videos. Matt, please keep up your good work, not only in football, in training, but in life in general. So grateful to you.

I don't know if you'll see this, but I'm a relatively new subscriber to the channel and it's inspired me to be the best footballer I can be. I'm really grateful for all of the work you put into this channel and I have some thoughts about your 2023 season in review that I'd like to share. As a general structure, I will share some key thoughts and add a couple of details/questions/suggestions: 1. Don't be too hard on yourself. This year was a new team for you and brought major life changes (hello Scarlett!) which required some adjustment this year. Soccer as a sport is pretty random and you could've played the exact same season and gotten very different stats due to factors outside of your control (teammates putting away your created, some shots taking a fortunate deflection, etc). It's also worth mentioning here that your team objectively -by most goals conceded and lowest point total- performed lowest in the league this year, so relative to where your team performed, you performed quite well, even if your numbers were slightly below your targets. To summarize, I think to title a video "I Underperformed..." is an oversimplification and not something I would want a potential coach/team to associate with you. 2. New goals You pride yourself on your versatility but I don't see that listed among your goals. Playing seven different positions over a career is really impressive, but you did that IN A SEASON. Maybe that's too many, maybe it's not enough. I hear that you want to play striker and play more as a right back. It doesn't matter which one you pick, but versatility can be incorporated into your season goals. e.g. I want to play six positions next year, including two games as a striker. You don't get to decide where you play but you can work on your finishing and shooting; show your team you can score if you want to play there... OR e.g. I want to play eight different positions next year and I want at least half of my games to be at right back. Up to you. If you add versatility to your season-goals, you can even add position-based goals: e.g. I want to keep a clean sheet in at least half of the games I play at right back or in defense. If you've read this far, thanks again for all of the hard work and the inspiration. Good luck next year!

I love to see this type of analysis....I wish I would have had the self awareness to do this when I was younger and playing. I was also the utility player on many of my teams. In club I mainly played CM, in high school it was a lot of Sweeper, but at various stages it was striker, left mid and left defense (even through I'm right footed). I think being that versatile also comes with a great grasp of the game that you know the roles and responsibilities of so many positions that it enables you to be effective in any situation and help the team.

btw. what's the point in lower leagues in USA to compete as a team? You cannot win as a team and go to MLS, even if you win the league. there are some players who are extremelny versitile. Like James Milner, David Alaba, Joshua Kimmich. Playing RB and LB is not so uncommon if you have strong both legs. Some wingers are on purpose put on their weaker foot side, so they can be inverted wingers and cut inside to shoot. Him bibeing AM is weird, but seems the coach
