I have learned over the years, that just because something CAN do everything, doesn't mean it always SHOULD do everything. Like youve talked about before, sometimes having a specific thing, for one purpose is way better than having a jack of all trades for everything.

I can definitely appreciate that. I do try to usey steam deck for everything, largly because I can't justify at the current moment more devices. I end up often dealing with choice paralysis. Do I play an emulated game or one of my steam games. I also own a switch and have now been using that more for switch and NSO online titles. Have more dedicated devices tends to lead to a more enjoyable experience.

You make a very good point , but the problem is most people can't afford a bunch of devices . The steam deck is a way to market a lot of games .

I remember back in the day having your own gba sp or psp felt unique in the sense that it is tweaked to your own personalized feel consisting of the games you like to play, and the battle scars it unfortunately acquired. I also knew that the length in between acquiring newer games would be long so I cherished and beat every game I started until it was time part with that game by means of trading for a new game or cash. That whole unique feel is lost now with backlogs and having a system that does most of everything.

I just got my Steam Deck today and I’m really enjoying it. I’m not a dad so I can’t be a Deck Daddy, so I’m now a Deck Dude. Can’t wait to use it more. Be blessed, bro.

I don't quite often comment on videos, but man I have to tell you after 30min finding your channel: your videos were just what I was looking for without knowing it. Smart approach about the topics with nice charisma and, of course, a nice coffee being made. Can't wait to watch more of your content!

I have 3 kids and have moved to handheld mode from my dope pc..but..I refused to be limited so I got the Rog ally. Lol bought my oldest the legion go..gonna get a steam deck to be in the home too lol we got all the consoles and my pc but we are in handheld mode majority of the time. Hurts my feelings when I look at the office and my pc collecting dust just glowing.. it’s not even that I don’t have time it’s just exhausting to sit up like that after work and be on my mouse and keyboard. Lolol

This is honestly part of why I have so many devices myself. While I certainly could do most things from either my desktop or laptop, I like having my handheld devices, they are a lot of the times just more convenient. The laptop is great if I want to go somewhere and I know I will have an outlet to use, but the deck is arguably more portable and the OLED has the battery life that I don't have to think about being near to an outlet the whole time, and my tablet barely takes up any space, so between the deck and a tablet I can do nearly anything my desktop can at home. For someone like me who spent a lot of time on the move where I needed to have everything be able to fit in a backpack, I really wish technology allowed for this kind of performance 10 years ago, I'd probably have way less back problems.

as someone who owns way too many handhelds I can say that for most people the deck will be more the enough, I really feel like you should spend some time using chiaki before forming an opinion on it. It really doesnt take long to set up and in general jumping form one thing to another on the deck is pretty fast, it would probably take just as long to suspend the game on chiaki and jump to a steam game as it would to get up and grab the portal, the screen on the deck is also better and you can zoom in to full screen it. I do agree that for people that can afford it have more dedicated devices is a good option but I dont think its the best advice for most users, I think a deck and a small cheap pocket friendly handheld like the 35xx sp or a miyoo mini plus is a perfect combination.

Apart from being able to have the flexibility to get non-playable tagged games running on the Steam Deck, I think the devices ultility is over blown. I am sure there are plenty of Deck power users out there but are more people doing all these things simply because they can or is there a real need to emulate, use other launchers and so on? I can only speak for myself but I am primarly a console user, despite owning a gaming PC I built myself, the Steam Deck has allowed me to adjust more comfortably into PC gaming. I made moves to have Big Picture mode launch upon start up on PC because I realized just how much consolizing the experience is valued by me. I am sure plenty of Deck users especially coming from console are not going much further beyond the surface level of the Deck and honestly its great in that use case. Unfortunately, not everything on Steam works well with the Deck. A niche game albeit one I really enjoy require a shader compile after the download and the Deck does not offer the ability to run such compile. So PC can be finicky, there might be a way around it using third party installations but I'd rather buy a Windows handheld to run it and more. I attribute that similarly to the PS Portal though I would not own one, its an option that provides the user with a solution to their needs. And right now there are a lot of options to choose from to get the job done.

Honestly thought of getting a ps portal before my deck but given I require WiFi to use and I’m always on the go and hardly have WiFi wherever I’m at. I prefer to have something I can play offline. I also agree with Chiaki, it feels so sketch giving my info to a third party I don’t know much about
