I beg the differ I apply blue magic on my hair and scalp and my hair is growing like crazy. People used grease on their hair as well as thier scalp back in the day and no one suffered from hair loss and alopesia and all their edges where still in tact. If you use a small amount on the scalp you should be fine. But it's up to you if you choose to or not . Your hair is very beautiful by the way. Thanks for the video upload.

Oh I saw your video. It was not personal at all in regards to your content. I had just seen a few vids before your where the vloggers complained about hair grease and I just think its ridiculous . A majority of the younger vloggers do complain about it without enough info or knowledge about the actual product. As the older generation have used it all our lives we gotta be doing something right. I never pre comment. I saw your vid youve got great content actually thats why I'm watching! ;).

@@tashlaineI dont think it was even the relaxer girl. When I had relaxers my hair was fine. When I was 12, I went swimming with a cap on and noticed it was taking my hair out. I did the Dr. Mircacle perm on myself a few years ago and my hair let me tell you!! It was growing, it was soft even after washing it numerous times.. Fast forward, I got a sew in Feb 2016. I noticed when I got home the sides were so tight. She told me to come back it had loosen. When I removed weave. My hair was a MESS! Was breaking like crazy. Took me til Sept of 2017 to cut it off myself. I ended up cutting it like 3 times. I wear wigs and extensions. I just started wearing the ponytails extensions again. I forgot bout pink oil. Petroleum is NOT a chemical used in gas. Petroleum is a BYPRODUCT of the oil refinement process and cosmetic petroleum(Vaseline) is so refined and FDA approved you can put it on your skin! Your scalp is just skin! Petroleum is a sealent, if your hair is dry before applying then Your hair will STAY dry it will keep moisture out just like it can keeps moisture in. Also it will look like it makes your hair dirty but it’s doing the opposite. It keeps everything out so dirt in the atmosphere will lay on the top of your hair and not penetrate. Making it seem dirtier then usual.

American Born but it’s not a chemical. Yes it is blended with other crude oils for fuel but fossil fuels are completely natural, more natural than the avocado and carrots and rice water girls r putting in their hair. And COSMETIC petroleum isn’t even gasoline grade, it is the refined stuff. The petroleum they use in gas is black and brown. Pale petroleum is stripped of all the qualities that is used for fuel

Well wouldn’t you know, it’s the best decision i ever made for my natural hair. Even after doing a protein treatment, I would get breakage. Seems like this stuff makes breakage almost impossible. Glad you are doing these videos. A lot of people have formed negative views based on what someone else has told them. If I had used grease like my husband told me at the beginning of my journey, I would have had a lot less grief. Girl, I have to challenge you on using it in your scalp. Your hair can grow just fine with it on your scalp. My mom used to grease hers, mine and my sister’s scalps and never had any hair growth problems. Neither did my friends and relatives. Petroleum is non-comedogenic so doesn’t clog pores. Now mineral oil is and can block your pores. Coconut oil can block pores as well.

Here is what I don't understand about the belief that grease keeps moisture out: When we were kids with grease pressed hair, if we went out to play, just sweat would make our hair "go back" aka revert. If grease truly holds moisture out, how would this be possible? I did try it with a few shed strands of blow-dried hair last week. I coated some strands with Blue Magic, wet them and waited. I also wet some non-coated strands. They all did the same thing, reverted, but the uncoated hair reverted faster. So grease slowed down the absorption of moisture, but didn't stop it at all. Thoughts?
@jewelofwisdom8279
@jewelofwisdom8279 4 жыл бұрын
I think the point is not that it holds moisture out but rather it locks moisture in. If you put a leave in and water (the ultimate moisturizer) with the grease in your hair, the grease will lock in the leave in and water longer but without it, he air will dry it out. I hope this answered your question. The hair has to be coated with moisture then sealed.
@Footswalker1977
@Footswalker1977 4 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, I understand that. But you'll hear many people say that an argument against using grease is that moisture can't get in once grease is applied to the hair. I was saying that this is a myth as well, as water can still cause even greased hair to swell/revert.

@@Footswalker1977 I'm using a mixture of Hollywood Beauty castor oil with mink oil grease mixed with Softee Indian hemp, yellow bottle wild growth oil, Glover's dandruff control medicine and a sweet smelling hair oil on my scalp and a non petroleum jelly grease mixed with Shea butter on my hair. I spray my hair and scalp with water first and I do this three times a week and alternate three times a week with the white bottle wild growth oil on my scalp and the same non petroleum jelly grease mixture on my hair. My hair is more moisturized and easier to comb out when I take my braids out. My hair will feel dry if I do nothing to it for two days so I don't see how it's clogging up the scalp but I will use a small amount of sulfate shampoo on my scalp when I wash it just to be cautious! People are all on KZfaq growing their hair with a mixture of Doo gro mega long or mega thick and sulfur 8 and their scalps are not clogged up so I don't think that's a problem! I guess grease was the right way to go all along! Lol

Melissa Manigault exactly... if you think about it when the hair gets dry it’s because moisture is escaping so grease is Not a permanent barrier if moisture comes out you can put moisture back in. What works really good for me is while I'm in the shower with the steam, I add a leave in conditioner or just leave in 50% of the conditioner I used... then I finger coil with gel and after about 30 minutes I'll scrunch and re twirl my ends with some grease. I dont get knots any more. I shed waaaaay less and if I want to comb it out and to a twist out it detangles like butter and I dont lose NEARLY as much hair. I dont agree with the whole "dont put it on your scalp movement" I still grease my scalp and it's the only thing that keeps it from itching. You honestly just need to wash ur hair alot of ppl go weeks and months not washing out products and then blame grease and oils.

Your hair is beautiful! I went back to hair grease and my hair LOVES it. I grease my scalp AND seal with hair grease. Use a SULFATE shampoo if you are smart enough to return to hair grease. 😁 You are right: Water, leave-in conditioner and hair grease to seal (fine-haired folks, please don't be heavy-handed with the hair grease). My hair is finally retaining length because the moisture is being retained. If you want to be in a TWA state forever, then keep doing what you do.

When I want to feel that stripped/squeaky clean feeling, I use Giovanni’s 50/50 Hydrating-Clarifying Shampoo. My hair is classified as 4b/4c very tight afro with major shrinkage and my edges grew back in within 3 weeks recently from using blue magic grease sure grow that has shea butter in it and using african pride grease maximum strength super growth with shea butter and basil butter. . My hair has grown at least 2 inches over the last few weeks, I know cause I got it cut and it was shallow short and now it is much thicker and longer. I am even getting compliments from people, saying my hair is nice and healthy looking. 😊 I even half silver gray hair and that too is looking nice. I get my hair professionally shampooed and deep conditioned monthly by a licensed professional. I will only do a rinse and regular conditioning every two weeks. I put s leave in conditioner in my hair daily. I use the exact same products my momma used on hair when it was super long and it is still working. I also use sulfur 8 grease on my scalp twice a week.

Okay. I'm putting this out there. I am 66 years old. I've seen so many KZfaqrs rant about how to grow natural hair. Now here I've been reading about using grease on their hair when they were younger. Grease helped them have long hair. In all my years, I've NEVER had long hair! I've tried grease (Sulfur 8 was a favorite), deep conditioners sitting under a heat cap, etc. Nothing (and I stress NOTHING) helps my hair grow. I try to convince myself that at this age it doesn't matter, but it does. I now keep it cut close so I won't have to deal with the disappointment. There! I said it. I'm feeling much better now. Have a great hair day!!

I keep saying the same thing, but I’m not quite ready to give up. I’m 58, and I’ve never had long hair either. The longest was at the bottom of my neck, and that was when I was younger and relaxed. I’m natural now, since 2014, and I’m having a hard time too growing my hair. I’ve tried hair grease a couple of time, and went back to oils. But I think I’m going to give it one more try. I’m going to quit (hopefully) trying to get definition, and start working on just keeping moisture in using hair grease. Trying to get definition has been putting my hair through a lot since I just wear a wash and go. I’m going to just let it go and let it do it’s thing. Wishing you all the best. ❤

Great video! Your Afro is bomb! Yeah grease gets a bad rep when it won't block pores or stop the hair from growing, the pores are deep under the skin hair has enough force to push thru grease which itself is refined for skin use so its not the same consistency as when it is used in other industries. I have more unrefined oils like castor oil and shea butter that attracts dirt just as easily and they dont stop the hair from growing out either. My favorite grease to use it Sulphur 8!💛

I sat on my hair up until about the age of 25 hair down to my thighs all natural and it stayed that length till i cut it for the first time at that age! I still have thick lush lengthy hair and the grease helps!!! Every individual is different as well so remember that what works for some may not work for others but hair grease is just fine.
