Exactly! It would be so easy for Apple to make an "heads up display" mode, that just follows you around. Plus, it would solve the fact that "travel mode" doesn't work in trains and things like this that move around more unpredictably than a plane.

This is not a criticism of you guys, or anyone doing these tests for that matter. It just strikes me is kind of funny that people are using these things to drive with and other things, which are inherently, unsafe, and I can almost guarantee Apple never intended. I just don’t think this thing was meant to be dust to Dawn wearable constantly in your life piece of equipment as much as it was supposed to be an augmented and streamlined as well as expedited workflow process. For me, programming, 120 stage lights, each light having six individual channels, and having to adjust every single channel every time the light flashes or change his color… With a mouse, that is truly a pain in the ass. I’m getting one of these, just to speed me along, not to be my personal augmented reality throughout my day. I just don’t think that’s what Apple was intending. And for those of you made it this far, I had to dictate this as I’m traveling, so please excuse any errant punctuation or misplaced words.

Be careful when choosing a wi-fi based home security system. Here in California thieves are now using Wi-fi jammers when robbing houses so unless your cameras, sensors, ect are hardwired they won't be of much use in some cases. Wi-fi signals are very low powered and are proving easy to disrupt unfortunately.

I would be careful using power tools near your hands. While the latency between reality and the screen is approximately 12 ms, or the duration of a blink, that amount of time can make a difference between cutting off some fingers and being safe. As people who play video games will say, latency kills. In real life every millisecond could make a difference.

Taking the light blocker off, is kind of like transparency mode with AirPods. I mean that, I get “claustrophobic” when AirPods are in noise blocking mode. A lot of tech reviewers seem to misunderstand travel mode. It is not intended to ignore your personal movement within the local environment. The LIDAR still knows you’re moving inside the room, so travel mode won’t help when you are moving under your personal power, i.e. walking. It is intended to compensate for when your environment is moving but you are not within the context of the local environment. It disables the gyroscope and other sensors tracking your vehicle moving. In travel mode, your windows will stay in place assuming you personally are not moving. I guess Apple just hasn’t explained this feature properly since so many KZfaqrs don’t quite understand it. Hopefully at some point, Apple will implement a feature where you can specify individual windows that travel with you when YOU are moving within the environment while other windows act as normal.

This iteration of product seems like a “work” tool. Yeah there are leisure uses too, but for the most part it seems like a good device for moderate workflows that would require a workstation. You go to the desk, put on goggles and work. Then take them off and resume “normal” life. In the future, more integrated and round the clock use will happen, but not so much in gen 1

The fact you can't screen record things you're watching is a bit Black Mirror scary though. Right now it's just for this copyright nonsense, but what else will they choose to black out in the future? Currently you can film the screen of your laptop, and who would they be to tell you you can't do that? I say "copyright nonsense", because who would bother downloading/sharing a shaky screen recording of a movie. There is no scenario where people would use this in a way that would take away any revenue from copyright owners. Quite the other way around, apps like Disney (and Apple of course) would greatly benefit from KZfaqrs showing the world what the app looks like.

Initially, the thought of people wearing these outside seemed unimaginable to me. However, with an increasing number of individuals pushing the Vision Pro (VP) to its limits, we are gaining valuable insights into the capabilities of this head-mounted device (HMD). This pattern will likely continue for emerging technologies, with buyers essentially becoming pioneers, uncovering issues and driving resolutions. While Apple didn't design the HMD for unsafe environments, it appears to be the future direction. Like Hololens, which introduced the Trimble XR10 hardhat for industrial use, the VP is expected to follow suit. Although some outings may pose risks, including potential legal issues or theft, these incidents will likely contribute crucial data for ongoing improvements in the technology.
@pythoglyphs
@pythoglyphs 4 ай бұрын
This! People need to understand that with novel technologies, there will always be those who try to use it beyond its 'common sense' use. Smart people (like Max) know the risks of using a tool like this for more than what it's primarily meant for. But 'stress tests' like these are what drive innovations. And this benefits not just consumers, but developers as well. Because of this, I will not be buying the VP for what it is right now, but for what it could be in the near future. Early generations of iPads were not meant to be used as laptops as well, now look at where the next gens are going.
