What a pity that ladies rely on men when it comes to repairs and breakdown. Society ought to bring the girls along, so they will be less helpless. It's our fault, because we insist on doing everything for the girls. Girls have the brainpower; let's give them a chance to use their brains and show us that they CAN cope with repairs and breakdowns. My wife could do everything I could do and, sometimes, comprehend a system better, and show her hubby (me) what was going on. Jeeez, she was good.

Additionally, the silicone spray helps tremendously to keep your windows from freezing to the runners in the winter. Don't just spray it on the side runners as Scotty demonstrates, but along the top and bottom as well. Anywhere the glass makes contact where water seeping between the runner and the glass can freeze.

Pro Tip, when you use the auto down, after the window has completely rolled down, quickly flip the switch up and let go. The reason for this is after the window has completely rolled down, it can take quite a few seconds for the switch to auto-cut power off from the motor. This will really save you a headache and a ton of driver side window motors. Cheers

The battery one is one I actually new about prior, and it's why I always roll one window down all the way, and the other half way. Once the first is half I do the other note whether or not I heard a difference in power between the two, and then the first thing I do is check the battery. That silicone helps prevent from getting your car doors being stuck & frozen shut. During winters, right before it get freezing cold, I spray our car doors rubber weatherstripping with film or coat of this, and prevents them from being frozen stuck. The silicon treatment works great to keep the windows from freezing closed in the winter. Also on the door gaskets. Spray on a towel or cloth and wipe the gasket. No more door frozen closed.

I’ve always preferred a thin coat of Vaseline on battery terminals. Yes as it heat up the film will get thinner but the stuff is cheap and a good glob will last quite a while. Does a great job keeping the battery acid and gunk off the terminals and exposed electrical metals

Hello from Toronto Scotty:) luv ur videos and all the great advice. I never knew about silicone for windows. My windows seemed to work fine but after putting on silicone they definitely run smoother and quieter. Cleans all the dirt and crap that builds up in the window channels and you really notice it.

I have stumbled on to some of these over the years. Had an '86 Jetta that was running hot. Discovered the fan was not running. then found all the connections up there to be corroded. It was in the battery area, of course. Then the wiring was odd and came to the conclusion there had been undisclosed damage (and repair). Thanks for the tips!

Wow! Your video is a wealth of knowledge. As a single woman who is not car savvy I think you’re a godsend. As a nurse, it’s fascinating how the mechanics of a car can be analogized to the hemodynamics of the human body. I watch you most evenings and learn something each time. Thank you!!!

Hemodynamics is really interesting, honestly a word I never thought of or heard, but the concept itself is something I'm familiar with. We basically have a red river (well, red to our eyes whenever some of it unfortunately escapes the body) circulating through and around our insides and keeping the system of the human body running smoothly. It's like a courier or public transit in some ways too, delivering nutrients and disease-fighting organic compounds wherever they're needed, and removing toxins from the body. I used to get squeamish thinking and talking about this stuff (still do if it's about serious injuries or bodily malfunctions), but I find it very fascinating overall. It's good to know how your meat suit works!

Another thing I would recommend with the tires is to check the dot date it's the last 4 numbers in the box or oval after the letters dot the main numbers to worry about are the last 2 that tell you the year the were manufactured if they're older than six years I would recommend replacing them if your tires are older than 10 years they start decomposing and at that point they're dangerous to drive on

Ya know, it took me nearly two weeks to figure out Toyota's Auto-Up and Auto-Down in my 4Runner? Especially since my Camry only has Auto-Down. If you only push the button partway, you retain manual control. I probably should have read the owner's manual, but who reads the manual? LOL Now that I figured it out, it's a feature I wonder how I lived without! If your headlights flicker like a discotheque whenever you hit the button, then you're a proud owner of a Chrysler/Dodge minivan, and no, it's not your battery, alternator, or the windows. If your car has two electric radiator fans, and only one works, your cooling system can probably handle that (except in extreme circumstances). You will, however, notice reduced A/C cooling ability because the fans also draw air through the condenser. Battery corrosion can be easily cleaned up with a slurry of baking soda and vinegar. Sure, it foams up (it's the ingredients for a child's papier-mâché volcano, after all) but it neutralizes the acid and dissolves the fuzzy crystals in seconds. The only time I've ever flushed brake fluid is after a line failure, I'm a bit OCD so every time I replace a line, I bleed the system at all four corners. When I buy a car that hasn't been recently serviced, the first things I do are: oil change, tune up, throttle body cleaning, and throttle cable adjustment. You'd be amazed how many times I've bought a car the owner thought was either "a piece of crap" or "on its last leg" that just needed an afternoon of TLC. "What's the lifetime of the transmission?" "Um, until the warranty runs out." Obviously not Toyota, I'm well-beyond the warranty in my Camry (at just shy of 339k miles) and never felt anything amiss in the transmission. As far as I can trace, it's only had a 100k service performed (by the dealer that sold the car to the original owner) when the fluid was changed.

Here is an interesting tip. I hosed off my radiator on a humid day in early September after a number of trips had accumulated bugs on my radiator. Only some of the sticky bugs washed off. An hour later I found yellow-jacket wasps swarming all over the radiator. They were picking it clean of bugs that the hose had gotten wet but not washed off. After a few hours the yellow-jackets had completed their work. The radiator was whistle clean! Talk about a complete job!
