This is NOT my Batman training routine for 2024. I know a lot of people are excited for that and I'm sorry it's not here yet. Basically, the 2022 video went pretty all-in with special guests and a routine consisting of exercises contributed by some of the biggest names in functional fitness. That was also the third year of the tradition...
And so I didn't want to just keep repeating myself with the same content. When I come back with the next Batman training video, I want it to be a BIG step up. I have plans - including sets, more guests, and some surprises. I'm saving that to be the 1 million subscriber video. It could take a while to get there still, but that's my pledge!
So, what is this video?
Well, truth be told, I've been training like Batman for over five years now. When Is started uploading content it was as someone who liked bodybuilding and basic bodyweight training. I wanted to be functional, but I left martial arts and rock climbing behind.
Over time, my training philosophy has developed. I noticed my mobility and performance starting to deteriorate and so I leaned into functional training. I started doing martial arts again, along with more advanced calisthenics and even a bit of parkour.
Then I developed the concept of "SuperFunctional Training."
The aim was to train for strength, mobility, agility, balance, endurance, speed, cognitive performance and more... All at once. Or, to put it more simply, to train like Batman.
And I would do this through extensive research and experimentation. I drew on my own experience as a trainer and my psychology degree. But I'd go on to do more training, to speak with experts, and to read and train a whole ton.
Over that time, I've learned a lot about training for performance. I've discovered some overlooked strategies and explored some cool techniques. I've also witnessed just how far-removed regular training is from this kind of "total performance" training.
This video, then, is here to serve as a "recap" of everything I've discovered so far. And a bit of a personal time vault so I can look back on all the cool workouts, collaborations, places, and adventures I've experienced while documenting my experience as "The Bioneer."
These are the central lessons I've learned about training like Batman.
But it's just the start!

Bioneer, sir; in yer videos related to brİain and mind progress, ye always forget to mention the very most important things: intellectual endevours, and guys plz read these carefully and do try to implement it on yer lives. The intellectual endevours can be constituted in 4 or 5 categories: 1- Philosophy/theology 2- Natural sciences 3- Social sciences 4- Arts 5- Applicable sciences These are all the fields that are about the "content" of existence; meaning these are about the essence of existence itself therefore; being busy with these not only makes the mind and imagination and analytical skills and verbal skills and awareness (and other fields of the soul, if there's such a thing as soul) much sharper and stronger and detailed; but also gives us information, content information of existence as a whole and its parts. Thus; both reading, consuming these areas, and trying to produce these, meaning trying to add to these areas; are helpful in countless aspects. THese areas mostly are directed towards the target of making us closer and closer to "the wisdom, the truth", maybe we can only exclude the 5th category from this, as the fields on that category are more like tools, rather than being on the existence and its parts themselves; but even the 5th category helps us understand the existence much better, by getting connected to the fields in the first 4 categories. Thus, to improve mind and soul; these intellectual areas are the key and essential points; but of course; strategy games and hobbies such as chess, GO, sudoku, carpentry, gardening, photography eand all that other stuff do help too as great supporters, but never are theythe essentials. One thing I will mention here is arts category, the 4rd one, as people don't know how to approach and conume art-cvlture at all, well the most people. Ye don't just scroll on a painting or a cinema movie fer example; no. Instead; first and foremost ye read some basics on that art area, just to get a bit sense of what it is in general. Then, ye look at a painting; ye observe, ye try to realize different colors and shapes, ye try to realize what is studied and told in the painting craft, ye try to get the soul state that the art tries to give. Ye realize its content and ways. Then of course, ye refer to the professional on that area, about the analysis of that particular art work. Ye do that fer all art areas; cinema, theatre, painting, sculpture, architecture, dancing, music, opera, calligraphy, lieral arts, martial arts etc.... Well, actually the ART SIDE of the martial arts are included in dancing anyways......

John Cena was a guest on Seamus's Celtic Warrior Workout channel and he talks about initially spending most of his time powerlifting/powerbuilding, but then he did some movies in China and when he worked out with Chinese trainers, he started focusing much more on mobility and flexibility. He said he lost a tiny bit of strength, but also lost all sorts of pain and stiffness he had over the years.

I’m not judging, or questioning your ability as a parent (I’m only a 19 year old boy, what do I know) but are you sure that keeping them coddled up in homeschooling is the best to develop their resilience? Just a thought I had that I decided to ask, because it’s the internet. I just think it’s important for kids to be socialized. I hope to be a good dad one day (not until I’m like 30).
@jsbadger

@Kenny36905 fair (and refreshingly intelligent) question. I've thought about the balance between curriculum and socializing. It's not easy for sure. For the lifestyle we lead, it works, and they do have social interactions with their peers, just not on a "forced-to-be-next-to-another-daily" scale. They have freedoms, but also responsibilities that go well with said freedoms.

I started functional training 9 years ago to address these imbalances and they have all virtually gone away. This channel has helped me learn more about that process. The Bioneer's intellectual approach is the real deal. Thank you!

As I've gotten older, it's humbling to notice how quickly movement patterns get more difficult to do. Also, strength and muscle loss, and the fat sneaks up fast. Give other exercises a go besides your main one when you can and see what works, and what doesn't work. Also, rest is more important. Nothing wrong with winding down and letting your body recover. P.S. been creative with a 60 lb sandbag lately. It's so fun trying different movements with it. Especially throwing it up in the air and catching it 6 to ten times (damn it's a tough one). You've been very inspirational as to what's possible in this content space; not just in terms of your knowledge, but your humanity. As a father I'm thankful to see another father out there doing his best to cultivate themselves. For me, the body is not the final frontier, but the gateway towards It. In the poetry of William S. As I was watching this a lot of previous videos came to mind, I recognised pretty much all of the footage. I have watched so much The Bioneer content by now that this just felt like a recap episode of all the past years hahaha. Pretty awesome either way!
