Just a Few Acres Farm

Just a Few Acres Farm

3 жыл бұрын

It took half my life, but I've found the secret to happiness. It boils down to some simple things: Realizing that no one else is responsible for your happiness, living below your means, finding one true friend, understanding whether you are in the right vocation, and understanding when to let go of control.
Note:
-We do not offer farm tours
-We do not ship our farm's products
-We do not sell live animals

Hey pete, I’m a 14 year old boy and the start of my teenage years has been really hard. People at school tell me that I’m too short, the tv tells me I should be different and sometimes it got so hard that I decided not to talk to anyone and I stopped looking ant my phone and video games for a couple of weeks and I started to to realize that I didn’t need anyone else but God, you have inspired me so much, thank you for all your great content. (Also I want to be a farmer one day😄)

Well done Roger, there's a lot of truth here and what you gleaned has already started paying off...you get it, you understood what the man said and applied it to your benefit. You obviously have a good mind and maturity that keep you on the right track. God bless you as you do and seek Him. Proverbs 3:5,6 ...Shalom

Good thinking Roger, I am 63 years young lol and throughout my life I have ran into so much negatively I then remembered someone telling me that when you come across someone with a bad attitude or bad energy just pray for them they could be going through something in their own life that is bringing out all the negative vibes and comments and you know it seems to help me to understand people. Just a little note. God bless

2ond heart attack at 50, I was disability pensioned off from the FD. I was bitter, anger, not ready to go. One night my wife pointed out that every time one of my 5 children called to help them, I could pack up what I was doing and be on the road. I thought about that for an hour. I relized that working with my hands wood working, and helping my Family was what I loved to do. Been doing it for 10 years now. Woodworking mixed with helping my Family......so relaxing. I really love it.......ashamed I wasted the other 2 years..........

Accurate words Pete. 20 years ago, I was removed from my career of 25 years by office politics. Took me a number of years to realize that job would have put me in an early grave. To this day, I'm still haunted by that job's environment. I've been living in what many people around me call a bubble because of my disinterest in much of the world around me. In reality, I simply don't involve myself in things I cannot affect or change and pay attention to those things I can. 👍👍👍👍

We've been telling him - get off the news - talk to your neighbors - it's not that bad out there - everyone's not out to get you. But he keeps watching and says "...I wonder if peace has broken out yet?..." It never will watching the news.... Great advice - I passed this vid to him - hope he watches.

I just pay a monthly fee to get rid of the adds. I did exactly as Pete did and he’s right. Pete is either loaded or left with little after years of working at a job. Even if you are a perceived owner. I thought I was rich on paper. I owned a whole bunch of little properties that had an appraised value that was tough to realise when I went to sell . It was a soft period but once started I had to keep going. Years later the properties are worth double and sell in a couple of weeks. It’s not easy to figure the best time to sell and retire. Fortunately, I was stuck with some bad properties that I could not get an offer on. I held these reluctantly. They now equal in value what I sold earlier. 1% ,money has made a difference as hasC19 as people seem trapped and started buying real estate like mad. Crazy world.

Sage advice about finding happiness. I am 51 years old and also do not use Facebook or Twitter. I currently walk a Canada Post route for four hours everyday in the middle of suburbia. I don’t wear headphones like most other carriers. I just like my thoughts and a casual short conversation with some of my regulars. Talking to good people can brighten your day. It also helps talking to others so I don’t talk my husband to death when I get home. Happiness can be found in so many places. At home I enjoy my three free roaming bunnies, gardening, my flower beds etc…Next spring I am expanding my vegetable gardening. Do what makes you happy.

What a great message for everyone. My husband and I married having talked about everything while engaged. Plans for a family, including that I would stay home raising the kids. How to spend below our needs which always help us to save a bit every paycheck. Life is good now that we are retired. Kids got to go to college, and we continued to save a bit still. No major financial concerns. Who would have guessed we could come this far on a one income household most of the 45 years being married. Be well, Peter & Hillary.

I’m 18 and I started my farm 2 years ago at the age of 16… many people speak bout these parents spoiling their children with materials (ie money, clothes, phones, etc..) I can gladly say I was not spoiled like many of my peers around my town think I am… I have worked my tail off starting at age 15, I started working in a chicken farm ($10 a hour), I work there to this day, and I save every penny I have to make sure my livestock is cared for and my parents have to worry bout nothing… the very ignorant people of my town and county have caused me a great deal of unhappiness because people take my hard work, my livestock and my nice vehicle (which I paid for myself) and effort and time and they misconstrue it to “his parents spoil him”… I for one, would like to say that I was not spoiled by my parents, I have worked my tail off for 3 years, I now have 8 head of cattle, 7 goats, 3 ducks, 28 chickens, 2 pigs and 3 donkeys and a very nice truck… it’s not bout the money, it’s what makes me happy, and bacon and beef makes me happpyyyyy

A farmer's wisdom - Unhappy and agitated and don't know why? - Your advice will certainly help. Incredible how much we can accomplish when our minds are clear of the unimportant and things that trigger insecurity and fear. I particularly agree with being able to discover and regain control of yourself. Seriously good advice. Thanks Pete

Just by deciding to not compare yourself with others and forgiving the people that harmed you and forgetting the past is the best thing you can do to yourself, even if others want to compare, not forget and be stuck in the past..

Pete, I’ve watched this one twice. Great presentation. I’ve often mused at the irony that it seems so difficult to live simply.

This resonates so much with me. If you asked me 4 years ago if I could see myself as a farmer... I would have laughed in your face But here I am with 40 plus goats, 200 + chickens, 20+ ducks, raising and processing my own meat chicken and turkeys for meat and so much more. I've had a career for the last 30 years in the transportation industry, and have always been in pursuit of more. Farm life gives me everything. I love your channel.

This was by far the best video you have produced!!!!! I learned alot, actually I knew this stuff just being able to make this move is what we did........we still work our jobs and run our little farm, but taking the leap and quitting our job doesn't seem that far away....thanks again.......

I found this channel today as I too am going through a massive change from an executive to an artist. SImplier, peaceful, less stress. I love smoking foods, we've gotten a rule now in the house - anything new comes in 10 things must go.
