1st guitar - that off-centre Les Paul is beautiful. Last guitar - I would play that S.G. as it is, no inlays or anything.

Trogly, you missed the orientation on the back of the corpaato. If you go to the back side and point the neck down you'll see a head, orange hair, pointy hat, red mouth, rosey cheeks, eye, and nose

Look at the explorer upside down. It’s a gnome with a gnome hat a red nose and either a beard or golden retriever ears.

I WANT TO ASK YOU A QUESTION! I sold a 1954 gold top to a guy, there wasn't even any cracks in the clear. It sat under a bed for close to 60 years. The tuners is the only mod that this guitar had done to it. It played BEAUTIFULLY!!!! It had its original case that had a few dings. I have alot of photos of it. I feel it may have been worth more. I've seen MANY 54's on line but I think mine was by far the best example. I got $22,000.00 and two brand new gibson les pauls standards for it. One being a 50's and the other being a 60's. If anyone knows if I made a good or bad deal please let me know. ( I can get it back)

So around $27,000, considering the two standards at $2,500 each. If it was in such an amazing condition, I think you may have been able to get more. There's a "player's grade" 54' goldtop for sale on Reverb right now for $27,222 (converted from euros since it's in Germany). A closet queen would be worth more, but that depends on the changed tuners. Did you drill holes in the headstock for them? Do you still have the original tuners? Overall you probably got an okay deal, but not crazy by any means.

@Dizzy the tuners were the same size so no i didn't have to drill the holes any bigger. The guy that bought it was VERY knowledgeable and had 300 les pauls. He has one almost from every year. He was missing the 54 and I think he said a 55. All of them being really great examples. Money is no object for him. He has a 58, 59, 60 burst too So that's a million bucks there. He seemed very honest and said he was really stepping up at 28 thousand. He said if it were worth 50 thousand he would give me 50. It sat here and I didn't play it much but since I got the two new standards I've been playing alot so is nothing else it's got me playing again. I really appreciate you responding! Thanks!

Trogly look at the back of the corpaato again but turn it upside down. It's a face with a hat. The black dot is an eye and the orange "triangle" is it's hair. even has Rosey cheeks and a smile. The blue triangle background/sky. Im certain this is intentional.

My old roomate worked at Charvel/Jackson back in the 80's. He would be able to build guitars for the cost of parts. He took a dinky and painted it white and then gave it our friend that worked at a pre-school and had tyhe kids draw on it. It looked amazing!

That Les Paul Custom Demo was my guitar. When I baught it in 2005 it was painted black (no nitro). didn’t know why there where these ”marks” on the backside. You could see the outlines of the lids trough the paint. The years went on and I didn’t think much of it until I saw the demo version featured on this channel. After that I stripped the guitar of the paint. And it looked horrible.. But I decided to keep the raw wood look but tint it darker and put on a nitro clearcoat for protection. The trusrod-cover is a custom wood piece that I tinted dark as well to match the body. Hate it or love it, I sure know that I loved the look of it. And im glad that it has fould a new home in Australia. 😊

interesting. On my lpc - back of headstock is 2020. cert dated 1/2021. Whereas your headstock stamp is 2017 and cert date is 2016. i would think the headstock stamp comes first then final inspection/ cert date. no?

At 0:47, I've two les paul historics and both bridges have the same intonation as the one in this vid, gibson just don't seem to drill 'em right sometimes. Also look at the intonation on the bridge at 11:15

There are a few reasons for the saddles being set the way they are to get the intonation correct...if it even is correct. First, the the 5th and 6th string saddles are reversed which make them appear to be unusually set. Second, the action might be unusually high requiring the saddles to be set further back on the bridge. Third, the pickups may be set really close to the strings which can do wacky things to the intonation. Fourth, the nut might be filed incorrectly throwing everything off. Fifth, atypical string gauges requiring unusual saddle positions..

TROGLY !!!! HOW DO I GET YOU TO SEE THIS!?!?!?!?!? Please help upvote this people, so he sees it That SG Special came stock with the Maestro Tremotone vibrola It was a distinct (and very attractive, imo) vibrola offered by both Gibson and Epiphone in the first few years of the 60's. Give it a look!

Cobraburst Les Paul axcess with smoked chrome TonePros hardware, Fishman fluence pickups, masked top binding and no neck binding is what the Les Paul modern should be, preferably priced at 2 grand or less

Trogly did you ever think someone tried to uncover the fret markers, on the side of the fretboard on that last SG you showed,although they finished blacking out the binding in the factory on the other side, without giving it and extra thought,I believe the last owner scraped it off,after it left the factory,unless they realized their mistake,I think they would have scrapped the whole side clean or painted the dots over the finish myself,custom shop sure has a lot of mistakes though that's for sure. 😂

If you have the money to spend and want something different why can't Gibson's custom shop or made to measure do what you want. That kind of attitude is what brings a customer to a private luthiar rather than a company. Trust me I know of a few that I would go to if I had the kind of cash it takes to have one custom made. And they have done builds for that very reason. The last one the 61 SG that was modified made me think that mthe it was once an Ebony block Vibrola model and then you showed that 62 you have. Man I tell you if I come into some cash that 62 is one for sure I'd take off your hands.

The Cobra Burst LP with the way the two top layers were going was pretty cool but nothing I would have to have. Somebody ruined a perfectly good Explorer and they call that art??? Looks like scribbly garbage to me. Love that early sixties SG-Special at the end. I would probably leave it just like it is

I am sorry to see that Trogly went from a Gibson-leaning guitar show to an almost Les-Paul-exclusive channel. I’m unsubscribing at this point after many years. There used to be more videos about Fenders and other brands, but they have become so scarce. You should change the claim to „Your daily dose of Gibson information“. At this point I know more about the minute differences between all the very similar Les Pauls in the world than I ever wanted to know. No hard feelings but this has become an extremely narrow-minded channel with hardly any value for non-Gibson-fanboys. Instead of broadening my knowledge as a guitar player I feel like I’m just watching somebody refining their collection of super high-end Les Pauls that never even get played by anybody except for the review. Sorry to say goodbye, still wishing all the best.

I don't get the point of routing your guitar for the staple pickups. Why not just trim the extra long screws with a dremel or something? Same as the Charlie Christian pickups, like... WHY are they mounted so stupid? I know Seymour Duncan made a normal sized Charlie Christian but it's like... whoever thought that was a good idea? I don't get it lol
