The Algerian Gendarmes are incredible, they help to tow the camper van. Not many cops in the world who would help. I only saw this in Algeria. These people will always surprise me with their kindness.

@@18madjid I've gotten that sense from their experience so far, Algeria has seemed very friendly! I did worry about some groups like AQIM when they started last year, but perhaps they have diminished in recent years? I didn't think he meant Abadla was very dangerous though; in the US "wild West" some places were lawless but not necessarily really dangerous -- many places just didn't have police/sheriff or only had one or two.

When you have a minor diesel leak like that, rub a bar of soap where it's leaking. Small pieces of the soap will be rubbed off, and when it reacts with the diesel, it should plug the leak. I've never done it myself (never had the need to), but apparently it's supposed to work.
