My father was a doctor. He treated a woman who lived with an abusive husband for many years and she finally killed him. My father had to appear in court. He told the judge that she had suffered physically and mentally for many years and couldn't take it any more. Because of my father 's recollection of what she endured all those years, she didn't go to jail and lived a quiet and happy life thereafter. Thank you dad. You are my hero.

I started out as a troubled teenager who, at the age of 15, went to state school in 1976. Did 6 months, got out, and in 1979 went to prison for 3 more years. Finally, in 1983, I went to prison for another 21 yrs. on a 50 yr. sentence. While in prison, I played piano for church services, including Prison Fellowship. They did more for the prisoners than any other group as far as events. To make a long story come to an end, I got out in 2004 and this year makes 20 years free! I am soon to be, 64 yrs. old and just as God was with me throughout all those turbulent years, He has been faithful in sustaining me out here. Really had no family support upon release but always seemed to have what I needed to survive through my trust that God would supply. Without this trust that I found in Christ, I would've been just another statistic. I paroled to Florida but am headed back to Indiana this year to find old friends from PF and other church groups.😊

She is as given a huge sentence but she was pardoned which almost never happens. She was a sweet older lady and was so gentle and quite. I was involved in an extremely abusive relationship years ago. The reason I’m here today is because he was arrested for serial rape. He’s still in prison 45 years later. If he had not been arrested, I would either be dead or in prison for killing him. Because I had reached a point where I couldn’t live with the beatings anymore. But he threatened my family if I left. So I had every intention of ending HIS life. Sadly, for me to escape, three women and one child (at least) had to be savagely attacked and their lives changed forever. He beat one woman he raped with a hammer. My heart goes out to this woman. I wish her life could have been better.

People who killed their abusers should not be charged with murder because 99% of the time it’s self defense now sometimes the abusers has driven the person to insanity and they could be a danger to society but this is to much she shouldn’t have been in there 10 years but here she is her life gone because our courts always side with abusers
@kathymiller23548 ай бұрын
Yes, I truly believe that it is very, very possible that it is self defense . But if they have a sentence because of this violence behavior it would be nice And a good idea to have counselors in there to help people get through this before they are released. In order to help them get their minds and hearts on the right track and for them to feel as though they are worth So much more than this abuse.
@danielsmiley65738 ай бұрын
So if someone is driven to insanity because they are in a concentration camp like marriage, it is the woman's fault? No, no it is not. If no one wants to help someone in that kind of situation, then society is the problem not the woman in a concentration camp like marriage. It should be way easier for a woman to gain support from her neighbors even. But, no people really don't care or often even side with the abuser. Mostly because like the Bible says the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. Then when the woman gets away or something happens like the woman kills her husband, stupid people around that person say if only she would have told me, I would have helped. No no you wouldn't have, no you wouldn't have. stop trying to convince others when you know you wouldn't help, because most people DO know what is going on and say things like the woman made her bed and now she has to lay in it. Or that is none of my business.

It was an absolute blessing and pleasure for me to work on behalf of your deeply needed Fellowship and love for these prisoners and their families...especially their children!! This ministry changes lives in ways that was mind blowing for me!! This ministry keeps prisoners from going back into the system and their children to never get into the system.. people don't realize the statistics of all that!! You guys are absolutely amazing!!! ❤

Dr.s sewed me up and most of the time I couldn’t even get to the hospital for stitches or the black and blue marks all over my body. My lip has 1 scare from his fist. I was ran over with a car. I was beat in my head hundreds of times at each beating. Almost daily. It was so traumatic, I honestly don’t think I ever got over all that. I would just pray Hod please get me out of this, then I had my son, we left at his age of 2. We went to the SAFE house. So women don’t ever think you are gonna change him it’s not gonna happen. When prison is better than with an abuser. I'd say she did it to protect herself and her children. She'd rather have her freedom taken away so her kids would be safe. My mom had a friend who shot and killed her abusive husband. He was beating on her and her 2 kids. Then she found out he was molesting his own daughter. The only thing that saved her from going to prison was because they had so many police reports, and they knew how he was. Not one day in jail. The sad part is that both of her kids turned to drugs to help with the pain and trauma he caused. I'm so glad I can say that my husband has never raised a hand to me. We've been together for 34 years in August. If there's any way to get out, run! Prayers for the ones going through the abuse. 😢

Her children have kept cantact with her for 40 years that tells me that she isn't a horrible person (or at least have changed) and that something happened where she saw now other option in that moment. Though of course I think the right option would be to flee rather than kill (except if it's self defence).

Do U know why she’s in prison?

Exactly. She speaks of abuse and not her crime and who abused her is still alive

I’m not going to assume she is there for killing an abusive husband. If that’s the reason it makes no sense, and why would she have been convicted of anything for that. But what if she’s there for stabbing a 5 year old to death…I’d like to know a little more before jumping on the parole bandwagon.

@@patrickphokoane641 For one thing, the name Patricia is not a males name, so how could the lady in prison be a murderer of her? Get it together, buddy. She had a RIGHT to kill an abuser who most likely would have hounded her, even if she’d left, until HE killed HER!!!!

It's sad when you have to go to prison to discover you have value. Real encouraging.

Reminds me of a clip I watched from a show like dateline where they pointed out how a guy from the south ( USA) joined the military and he said he “finally found a place where he could be accepted for being who he is” this place was fighting the taliban in Afghanistan- pretty sad when you have to go to the taliban desert just to be accepted for being yourself ! She had value before she went to prison and all people should be accepted who are just being genuine but unfortunately it seems not the way it is

@@landaps very true, but she seems like a good person. I guess what I was trying to say is that if you’re going to lock them up they should have classes/workshops/activities that help them become better citizens. Even if they are never released. However, I do realize there are those criminals who are a danger to society and no matter what type of class they take, or how many activities they do, they will never be welcome back into society society. Sadly, more and more violent criminals are allowed to walk the streets because of no cash bail, and lax laws. It’s sad that people feel they are above the law.
