Good for you highlighting how an accident or even a scare, unlike with a car, can knock your confidence. It needs highlighting more, as drivers just go around doing it like its nothing, but it feels like you have threatened or assaulted!

Buses can be fun. Newport Beach California a few years ago and a bus pulled up next to me just like yours. Almost squeezed into the curb before I took evasive action. Was able to get over to the drivers side, rode up to the front, right next to the driver, and slugged the bus as hard as I could. Made an awesome thump and he slammed on his brakes. I just kept on going with a huge smile. Buses can be fun =:)

Thanks for sharing! Looks like a nice bike. Range estimates from the manufacturer are always just that, estimates. One rider might do 50km and use 10 percent of the battery power. Another might do the same distance but use 90 percent. Just too many variables. Rider weight, rider clothing, backpacks and panniers or lack thereof, tyre pressure, wind, rain, road surface, hills, assistance level, speed of riding, etc, etc, etc...

This Tenways CGo600 surely has a lot going for it, the rear motor setup being one of them and of course the Gates belt drive. Maybe you could put it in a head-to-head test with the Ostrichoo Zeno, also a Dutch e-bike with a rear motor. Its party piece being a supercapacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery, which means it only takes 30 minutes to charge fully. As always watching this review was fun, looking forward to more e-bikes tested in the real world

What are your thoughts on how it handles big and steep hills? I love the idea of not having to perpetually switch gears, but I live in New England where two separate mountain ranges nearly converge. So “hilly” is understated. I’ve gotten my analog road bike up to 40 mph coasting down one of the hills on my commute to work, but the slog home is arduous. Could the single gear torque sensing bike work for me?

If I was in the market for an e-bike I’d definitely look at this. And you’re right about the cost. Buy the e-scooter instead (Vespa looking type) not those kid skateboard things. They have lock steering with alarm ,weight 200 lbs and hard to steal so you do not have to lock it to a post ever single stop, plus it can carry a lot of stuff without a wearing backpack all the time. And the wide soft seat does not try to impregnate you. Mind does 50 km range on a charge and it goes as fast as a young person on a 10 speed petaling his guts out. Don't like for me personally, too light weight, not enough power and I need more gears for mountainous area. But it does look like a fantastic bike for many many ppl. Just a counter point, some of us have arthritis and other "light" disabilities that E-bikes with full assist can help on days when pedaling is not so easy. I wish for days when I could leap on a bike with no thought to assistance.

This looks like a lovely option for relatively flat city commuting, but I don't think it would hold up where I live as there are a lot of hills to contend with.

Thank you for a great review! But I do have one question. If it has no gears is it still suitable for a really hilly town such as I live in?

Looks like a good bike, but I wish they do one with a rear suspension one, the roads are terrible where I live and a commuter bike with rear suspension would help prevent a sore back :)

This bike has a different audience than me, but it’s good seeing innovation at the lower end of the eBike market. Belt drive is an excellent choice for a market segment that probably never turns a wrench and has no thought about bike maintenance schedules. My first question regards regards future parts availability in 10-20 years, or even now globally? eBikes with mainstream components will have much easier maintenance paths versus a new bicycle brand with proprietary parts. Even on my Santa Cruz mountain bike (SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain) I worry about future availability of custom derailleur hangers. I’m stocking up while I still can. The second question is rear hub durability and ease of maintenance? Thx.

one question. What degree of customization can you get in relation to tire sizes? From what it seems, it comes with 1.9 tires. Is there room for 2.2's? o 2.3's? They would make it way more comfortable to ride, since there's no damping whatsoever. Thanks!!!

For a cheaper, slightly more powerful option with similar features (belt drive, internal battery, etc) I like my Ride1up Roadster. It's got a 350W motor, which really helps on those really steep hills, a real range of about 25 miles when I keep it in modes 1-3 on my 6'3, 200lb frame, rim brakes (useful when you have to use weird public transit bike racks) and is super light (It's about 4 pounds heavier than my road bike) at only about $1000, it's kind of a hard thing to beat. The company is pretty awesome too. Great sales support, and the whole thing's been taking really abusive (saltwater spray on the back of a ferry, steep hills) treatment with no complaint at all. This does look like a more premium version of that. I do just think 250w without a geared hub is not enough, the battery range is INSANELY optimistic, and a torque sensor only (cadence sensors are the real "premium" feature) I don't think I'd drop another $800 on that.

Hey Eilis! I just stumbled across your site this week and I'm hooked! I have a couple of questions. Why don't you use clip in cycling shoes? I'm confident that the major players would love having you promoting their products. Also, have you reviewed a bike from the brand Lectric? I'm very interested in their XPeak fat tire bike and would be curious to hear what you think. Keep up the great work. Love your presentation style and delivery!

Lovely bike and a great price. It wouldn't work for me as I'm 155 cm and the bar would be difficult. I live in France and have an 02Feel French electric bike which is also a great bike, perhaps a review on one of them would be good. . Thanks for the review, really enjoyed it.

I currently have a Gtech ebike and I really like the tenways bike. It is very similar to the Gtech and I am going to purchase one. A great video and really informative. Would like to know if you need to charge the battery on the bike or is it removable?

Should you get the chance, give the Raleigh Felix+ a go. Bosch mid motor, Intuvia display, hydraulic discs, lights, mudguards, rack, bell, side stand, rear wheel lock all as standard. Quality build too. Not cheap at around £2,100 but worth considering if you're in the market for one. Just remember E bikes are not built for speed but powered assistance when needed!

This is a great review but, even though I live in NYC, the Tenways bike is a hard sell. Most e-bike shops will not fix a broken e-bike you bought from somewhere else, especially one shipped from Europe. VanMoof has a shop here in NYC and I'd be lucky to have them close by when my bike broke. Elsewhere in the U.S., if your VanMoof is broken you have to ship your bike to VanMoof here in NYC! It's crazy. Just a quick search and you'll find many people who have problems with their VanMoofs. Tenways will have issues and breaks and malfunctions too and you will be screwed. It's just a matter of time.

I can see how light and simple design could appeal to Tenway's target market. I just bought a Milano ebike with similar specs but it has a removable battery and a carry rack on the back plus a bigger LED display. It's also cheaper at a shade over A$1,500. Tenway will set you back US$1,699.00 which I guess is reasonably competitive.

The color is very nice. Where does one procure a MIK compliant back rack that fits the bike and accommodates Basil panniers? And a front rack as well? Is that battery readily available or it proprietary? And where when one buy a second, or replacement battery? Is their service network listed somewhere? Hydraulic brakes are nice.
