Lie Nielsen makes great products. I bought a low angle block plane when I visited their location several years back.

Agree Richard! I was up there years back and was able to take a tour of their production facility, which is available to the public - top notch!

Just got the email notification from LN about 10 days ago and ordered it immediately. I as well had been waiting for years for one. received in the mail 2 days ago. Absolutely gorgeous plane, and what a performer. Couldn't be happier.

An awesome plane. I often use a tight T&G to glue boards together. A better way than just butt jointing. I have a shaper and router table. Also used a table saw for this. Truth is, this is a set up dedicated tool. Unless your making millions of the same item, you will be pleased to do this joint on the bench. Minimal fuss and test cuts. The glue joint is self aligning during glue as well. This plane does not disappoint. Mine is an org stanley and it’s ok. I am ordering the LN now that it’s available again. The one I really need is the 049. Same plane but for half inch stock.

I had a similar experience, and I opened my email the other day to find they were back in stock. Mine gets to me tomorrow.

I wanted one of those so bad. I have been on the waiting list as well. Using an old Stanley in the meantime. I did get the shooting plane last fall when they had a batch. I'd really like to get a #3 in bronze as well. Sometimes when I use the Stanley tongue and groove plane, I'll use a block plane to chamfer the joined edges to make a v groove where the pieces join as a design element. It looks really nice.

Thanks Ethan! Hopefully there are enough people on the waiting list that they'll. produce another batch. Regarding the shooting plane, when they made a batch early in the pandemic, I hesitated. When another batch was available, there was a price increase - but I ordered it anyway and love using it. Nice idea with the chamfer, I'll have to give that a try. Thanks for the feedback! - Dennis

Can't help but wonder, in English it's "THE lie Nielsen", but in French??? "LES lie Nielsen"? :D

Great tool from a great company. I own several of L/N tools but I can't get my hands on this plane. Can I ask_ obviously you won't be able to plane with the grain all the time given that you need to plane from the same face. Any problem with tear out going against the grain?

what about end grain ?
