Shame you missed out Wallsend with its Latin signs. Haymarket is long because it was a built as a “demonstrator station” before the rest of the system, in order to evaluate the design. The rest of the system was built with shorter platforms because of the costs.

i will answer some questions that you asked in the video as i am local to the area. -the reason why there is a Station Road but no station there is because formerly, there actually used to be a station located under the road, named Backworth, it Closed in 1977, and a new station near the site wasnt opened until 2005. -Haymarket's Platform 2 is so long because, originally, it was planned that the trains would be 3 units long, but due to financial constraints, it was decided that the trains would run in Single or Double units opposed to the original Triple Unit operation that was planned.

The reason Haymarket is soo long as it used to be a terminus platform when the system opened and could hold a second train. The stations have an extra cut out each end underground ontop of this for the original 3metrocar length plans.
@SimulationGuyOfficial

@@rafedragonwolf5105 thats not true, Platform 1 was the Terminus Platform, then trains would run to the Monument Crossover before heading into the Long Platform 2

Northumnerland park will have a BR station when the Blyth and Tyne opens as the Northumberland line between this year and 2026 but they are making fairly good progress the idea is to merge train times with metro and tickets so time will tell if it all works! Though I am fairly sure there would have been a station there many moons ago though before long iroically there'll be one again!

@@Macrowa they have a mobile unit that goes to stations to provide ramps. Majority although say step free, this doesn't mean wheelchair accessible. Many stations the train is higher than. The platform of the gap is too wide. Calling the mobile unit to get access is hit-and-miss.

The Metro is brilliant for what it is but its such a shame that the cross-North-Tyneside line isn't there (although the Test Track is part of the George Stephenson Railway Museum) & ends near Percy Main. Arguably the Metro should have used the old Tyne Electrics layout with updated signals etc. A bit like MerseyRail seems to do. Gateshead station when taken in the round of the former architecture of the area is far more understandable than it looks on its own. Brutalist magnificence.

It's definitely Tyne-mouth (said how it's spelt) to us locals. Feels like Whitley Bay is always closed. Sunderland is miserable - South Shields has a brand new station and two abandoned ones.
