In this video, I hit the banks of the Tennessee River to do some catfishing. I was using yellow bass, shad, and bluegill for bait. It was a fun afternoon of fishing as I caught several blue catfish including one I had to go chase down.

I used to surf fish at night. I found some little led lights for the rod tips so i could see the hits better. You should look into it. Helped alot, for me at least.

Hey bud I really like watching your bank fishing videos. It's different. I fish with the whisker seeker 9foot 6inch heavy action with a soft tip rod. Really makes a difference when bank fishing. Keep up the bank fishing. God bless

Some 3M reflective tape near your rod tip and a red led headlamp makes seeing bites easy after dark while bank fishing. I have it on all my rods

We went today on Cherokee lake and found a hump in 32’ of water in the mouth of a huge cove, creek channel running to the back of the cove with stumps on it, you want to talk about a magical day. Biggest one was 32lbs but we caught a lot of fish in the 15-22lbs it was the best day catfishing I have had this winter, great video as always man

Kayak Catfish have you Ever fished Cherokee??? I have found flatheads this time of year literally laying on top of each other in some places there. I’m sure they do it everywhere but it is awesome to find them like that and get them to hit lures

Awesome video, nice fish Justin, I too missed alot of fish using the clicker , after the clicker goes off I lock it, I wait for the line to get real tight and then I reel like the devil, that works for might not work for u or someone else, but just that adjustment I caught more fish, thank u for the video sir

When we fish in rocking areas. We make concrete stinkers. The tie a loop knot, with 8lb line. Do it can go ahead and brake of. No harm, no foul. Loosing that weight. Great job learning from you.

Don't know if this would help, but I tie a small "christmas" type bell to my rod tip for an alert that there is action. That way, you can still lock your reel down and get hook ups. I've also seen (never had) electronic clip-on(s) that sense vibrations and sound off

2" PVC pipes with rebar spikes. You can spread out more than just off the yak. Plenty of pictures to reference on how to make them.

Our shoreline is almost all rocks. I can’t drive them down deep enough to be effective

@@KayakCatfish you'd be surprised at how deep you can get a 1/2" rebar in the rocks. I carry a little claw hammer when I'm just fishing, or a hatchet with a hammer when I'm camping. Catfish and Carp on here has a awesome video of how to make the ones I use now.

I admit it -- I suck at casting the surfcaster I bought specifically for catfishin'. I've tried just about every casting technique I could find to get it to go more that 20' but I've pretty much just given up and use it just for dropping it down in deep water off my boat. But I've never tried your quasi-side arm technique though -- looks simple enough even for a spaz like me, we'll see. Thanks!

@@KayakCatfish take your kayak to the Columbia river and do exactly what you do for catfish, same bait and everything, it takes about 30 seconds to 5 minutes per bite and you might be into a fish as long as you're kayak

Great video, with the water down like that you could fish anywhere on the bank, I believe TVA owns to a high water mark and your not on anyone's property coming into the shore from your kayak. Take care and keep your line stretched

I vote for allowing the circle hooks to do their job with the clickers off. Let the equipment do their job just like how you started bank fishing. Either way.... it's good stuff Justin... keep it up.

Hey justin, I believe the trouble you had with the clickers was due to the angle the rod is at. The lower your tip is to the water the less chance of the fish feeling the reel. Just a thought Merry Christmas

Blu cat any good to eat? I haven’t caught one yet but they are here in Maryland. I eat those channels and flatheads in the 18” range cause the bigger ones get a little meh tasting. I assume it’s the same for blues. Great videos just subbed. I’ll be watching!!

Thanks! Our weather in December is always unpredictable. Some years it is mild and some years really cold. It is currently 28 degrees right now but we will have highs in the 60’s again next week.

I put my clickers on, when they start going off I gently turn it off and let the rod load up. Idk not telling you anything you probably haven’t tried. I like hearing them things run myself.

I don’t believe it’s the clicker for missed fish. With the long cast you get a lot of line stretch on a hook set. That’s why catfish Dave runs back to set the hook. But what do I know, except that your catches would eat mine. Lol

I need to ask if you use a keel guard on the Hobie. And if so, which one? I bank fish from mine on occasion but I’m starting to get some scrapes now. Tight lines and slime!

I don’t use a keel guard. I tried applying a gator guard but couldn’t get it to stick. I will just add some extra plastic via plastic welding if it ever wears thin.

Hey Kayak Catfish, so is it better to set the drag low so the fish can take it and you'll hear it? I always was taught to watch the rod tip. Your way seems genius.

You will get better hookups if you leave the rod in the rod holder and reel engaged.

I think he is talk in about hearing the clicker, with those reels the clicker has a free spool with no drag, when you pick it up after a bite or run, you flip the switch to reel. Hope that explains it.

I think its time for me to fish the spot that I showed Catfish Dave! I think its the same lake as this video and only accessible from the bank when the water is down. Maybe I can show you the spot someday so you can hate the spot as much as Catfish Dave does! 😆

@@KayakCatfish up here in west Virginia On the kanawha river was around 44 last time out,probably a lot cooler now since it's been in the 15 to 20 degrees range,
