As a gay man who grew up in Milwaukee just blocks from where all this happened...I think this is an important story to tell. Dahmer is the guiltiest party, without question, but I can't help but blame Milwaukee as well. The Midwest "nice" mentality trains everyone to walk around with blinders on, choosing to ignore the red flags all around. Dahmer wasn't slick. He spent most of his life being sloppy but everyone around him enabled him to keep going.

The way Wisconsin does some of its judicial stuff is wild. Your comment reminded me of the more recent trial of Darrell Brooks. Since you’re from that area you probably know about him driving through the parade in Waukesha. In case you didn’t know, he’s also a decades long violent, woman beating criminal on the registry. Just a couple weeks before the parade he ran over his girlfriend’s foot with the same car in Milwaukee and was released on a $1000 bond, attacked his ex, and then did what he did. It’s so sad that if he stayed in jail where he belonged all that never would have happened

You left out how segregated the city of Milwaukee is which definitely played a big part. He used the prejudice of homophobia to his benefit and preyed upon a lot of black men. All the bridges in Milwaukee separate North side from South side. Literally a city built on dated views but still treated pretty much the same today.

I have to admit that I was only praising his realization in comparison to others who don't even think to question if the show was made in good faith. You are also right that he shouldn't have made this video in this fashion, especially because of his realization. The problem is, the show actually managed to be enjoyable if you disregard context (which you shouldn't. These are real people). No matter how much it exploits the suffering of the victims of horrible crimes, the general public opinion will be positive just because of its quality. This is a sad fact of our society and you rightly called me out. My standards for empathy as dismally low nowadays apparently.

The true crime comminity truly sickens me. Sure I like true crime, but only in a "how the mind works" kind of way. The fact there are fangirls out there editing flower crowns onto this man as well as people like the columbine shooters is honestly vomit inducing. How braindead do you have to be to do that? Shows like this only make it all worse in my opinion, as they are telling the killers story when they should be focusing on the victims.

Jeffery Dahmer, when sitting next to handcuffed Tracy Edwards rocked back and forth chanting to himself while watching the third Exorcist movie according to Tracy Edwards statement. I wonder why they left that out of the show? Seems like another important fact having to do with Jeff's deranged behavior and overall feeling and thinking process behind it.

The fact that Netflix made a tv show out of real life crimes is crazy and disgusting. Those victims aren't fictional, they were real people who were manipulated, drugged, tortured, killed, dismembered, and then eaten/thrown in the toilet/or kept as trophies. And the families suffered as well from Dahmer's act. People criticize viewers of crime videos, but as a person who watch those videos, i can certainly say that we all find it disrespectful that Netflix did this, and the people who watch the show were out of line for enjoying it as if it was simply a show. I remember people making jokes and fan edits out of it. At first i didn't even want to watch it because: 1st they didn't made it has a documentary; 2nd they choose a well-known/loved/and attractive actor to portray a cruel monster, so people could fantasize and make fan edits/tiktoks out of the show to make it even more popular; 3rd they didn't ask the families'permission to even make the victims'stories a tv show; 4th the show clearly wanted to make people feel sympathy towards Dahmer. But i wanted to see if the show was that inappropriate, and it was. At the time, I barely watched 2-3 episodes because of how weird the storytelling is. And i have to say that i find some comments that Law made weird and sometimes out of line. But other than that, i appreciate the fact that he also didn't like that Netflix made a tv show out of a criminal.

Disclaimer: This documentary is very inaccurate, Glenda Cleveland was not his neighbor, he never offered anyone any type of sandwich, he never met Konerak Sinthasomphone outside of a liquor store, he never brought bags of blood home to drink it (he did drink a vile of blood only to spit it out because he didn't think it tasted very well), this is a very small detail, but he did not wear glasses during his trial because he felt uncomfortable staring the victim's families in the eyes, and that's not even half of the inaccuracies in this documentary. I also wanted to say, not in defense for Jeffrey Dahmer because honestly, he was a terrible person, but he hated the fact that people called themselves his fans and sent literal marriage proposals to him in prison. And yes, he did get baptized on a solar eclipse and the day John Wayne Gacy was executed. One of the small things that documentary got right.

I had finished the series like in October of this year it was good but cringy , as in some scenes I didn’t know happened, & was a bit shocked, I do remember I’ve heard of it last year, I didn’t think much of it though!!!
