Four Harlem friends -- Bishop (Tupac Shakur), Q (Omar Epps), Steel (Jermaine Hopkins) and Raheem (Khalil Kain) -- dabble in petty crime, but they decide to go big by knocking off a convenience store. Bishop, the magnetic leader of the group, has the gun. But Q has different aspirations. He wants to be a DJ and happens to have a gig the night of the robbery. Unfortunately for him, Bishop isn't willing to take no for answer in a game where everything's for keeps.

Like your reaction. The directors of films like Juice and Boyz N The Hood were making cautionary tales about going the wrong path which they said themselves but we got a generation of emimnem heads calling it hood classics and missing the point of the films and thinking its cool. Remember that old film Bishop was watching? Its called The Public Enemy and its similar that the main character turns to crime and is crazy and he turns on his family and associates. Juice was inspired by that film. They a warning and examination of the condition back then and what could happen.

Juice to me is one of the best films that depicted New York (Harlem) in a realistic manner that serviceable. I also enjoyed the hip hop aspect as well. Ernest Dickerson gave us the most iconic shots and scene i.e. when Bishop walks up to Q at school after closing his locker.

I believe Bishop’s father was taken advantage of by another prisoner in prison and was traumatized,hence why he is so disconnected and staring at the tv in the beginning. One of Bishop’s motivations for his lust for power is that he never wants to be in his father’s situation.

What's crazy is, based on interviews of people that were around him, 2Pac had this kind of energy in real life., not against his friends, but always ready for some bs, always choosing violence, despite the lessons of his own movies. The night he got shot in LV started with him leading the charge to jump a dude, in front of everybody, throwing the 1st punch and everything, later that night dude caught up with 2Pac, and the rest is history.

This kind of movie terrifies me: nothing mystical, no fantastical whatever. It's all real people that definitely exist(ed) in the different cities they're based in. Hell, as a kid/teen you might even have/had a Bishop and not realize it until it's too late like these boys did.
@DagiTingz
@DagiTingz 3 ай бұрын
Omg like can you imagine have a kid like him. But like I said in the film. His reasoning behind it stems from trauma and he intertwined it with his psycho manic behavior. People in the comments said that his father was taken advantage of in jail so he didn’t wanna end up like him. But that’s kind of dumb to commit the crimes you do to end up in jail to be put in the same situation like your father. He thinks because he got the juice on the block he would be safe. Nah there’s always a mf crazy than that

Relax yourself. Im apart of a different generation, I know who Rakim is but I’m not gonna know all songs by him especially in a movie I ain’t watch before. All I was saying was the style of the song and tone reminded me of how Will Smith would rap. But asking who raised me. Don’t worry about that. Keep it cute in this comment section or log off

Yeah no disrespect to Rakim ever. I just didn’t know the music like that. Just the style and flow reminds me of how Will smith would rap things. I’m just from a different era of music. I find out about Rakim through Asap Rocky wildly enough. But enlighten me on the backstory. Cause as you can see there are others who come in the comments and don’t even hear how I said no disrespect to him. Just didn’t know it was him. I rather someone educate me than insult me. So please share the backstory

With the Headwrap looking like an African queen(you are one) anyhow Juice is great. We all hate Bishop but love 2pacs performance. The guy who played Steel was in another classic hood film called Lean On Me. Morgan freeman is transfered to the worst school in the state and tries to turn the school around, often hood school movies are corny but that one was so real because it was raw and it was based on a true story too. Also check out Do The Right Thing, that one deals more with race in the hood. But it's one of those cools films that take place all in one day kind of Like Friday or House Party
