I left Leonard wood in early 2005. My barracks were right across from the marching field and up half a block.

Those were my Basic Training barracks in which the privates have their backs to. B-6-10, 1st Platoon 7/92-9/92. Went in as Pvt. E-1 got out as E-4 in 7/96 at Ft. Hood. Retired GS-13, 30 years all together. Last position was because of veteran's preference. Actually, beat out other applicants because of it. Never would have thought as an 18-year-old, getting up at three in the morning for about two months, constantly and thoroughly exhausted during that time, it would have paid off the way it did.

I had BCT in Lost in the Woods in '74. Too bad Jennie couldn't swing her camera to see the land scape of the garrison. The barracks Jennie was billeted in during her BCT were the same as the one I lived in. But one platoon was billetted in steel shacks (not quanset huts). This was when the energy crisis started, and it was in February. Those shacks were cold! There were still wooden barracks, where we stayed in reception. Oh yeah, WTF with the civilians hanging out at your BCT barracks? We would see civilians only at PX services, or wives picking up their Drill hubbies, but they stayed in parked cars across the street.

I did my basic and a i t at Fort Leonard Wood in September 1984. Bravo -2-2. 12 B 10. Combat Engineer. I will never forget the experience or drill instructor's. Some of them were Vietnam veterans.

Wow! I did my basic there in the summer of 1980, & was permanent party there , 1984-1987😁had 2 kids born at the Ft.Leonard Wood hospital. I always liked the place

AH ,Fort Lost in the Woods! I was there in 1992 or 93. This Makes me want o dig up my old vid from training. The ol Cattle Cars where awesome! lol

Did my basic there, A/2/10 Feb 97 and my first duty station where I worked at GLW community hospital as a medic. This brings back memories especially the cattle truck.

I noticed they have “quarantine barracks” there now. How was it going through basic during the pandemic? I remember we all had chronic bronchitis back in 2005 where the only remedy was ten minutes in the gas chamber singing the army song while holding our pro masks above our heads doing jumping jacks 😁

@@TravelJennie The gas Chamber was turnt, lol! Really cleared up those sinus' . Yeah, it was INTERESTING! For the majority of it, the face masks were just IMPRACTICAL for training and we wore them only when we had to( around higher ups, periodically). We didn't get to do combatives or have family day, and the first 2 weeks was ROM( The period before the start of red phase to quarintine the platoons and get us ready). Yeaah, if you got COVID, they would send you to another company that had Quarintine Bays. There were a couple of folks who got it Sadly.
