One Sunday afternoon I decided to go for a stroll just outside of Downtown Los Angeles to the infamous Skid Row.
Skid Row contains one of the largest stable populations of homeless people in the United States, estimated at over 4,400, and has been known for its condensed homeless population since at least the 1930s.[3] Its long history of police raids, targeted city initiatives, and homelessness advocacy make it one of the most notable districts in Los Angeles.[4]
Covering fifty city blocks immediately east of downtown Los Angeles, Skid Row is bordered by Third Street to the north, Seventh Street to the south, Alameda Street to the east, and Main Street to the west.

LA feels a lot more rundown than I thought it would be, not quite the glitz and glamour Hollywood makes it out to be. You're a brave man doing Skid Row solo, had no idea beat it was filmed over there! Need to rewatch it 😂

@@no_soy_rubio When I was in high school, I lived in a suburb of LA for about a month and a half. It was a very peaceful area and the weather was nice season, so it was comfortable 😊👌Since I grew up, I have visited several times for work and travel. There are some areas in downtown that are unsafe 🤔 Are you going to Mexico after LA ? Enjoy your travel !

Wow, fascinating stroll in an area I would not have the bravery to visit. It was interesting seeing the theatres repurposed into stores, but glad they kept the storefronts. That vehicle had some good camouflage going on! It was fascinating and depressing seeing the tents set up right on the sidewalk, and hearing the history and demographics of the area.

That`s a rough corner of the world, I really admire your courage, there are just places I`d not like to be found, that`s not to say we do not have rough corners here, we do but they look like churches compared. The whole place could pass for an abandoned city apart from the traffic and the people. I wonder how the government can accept/tolerate places like Skidrow/tenderloin and the rest, it`s wrong in every way to let people live in such conditions. Please stay safe while there, everything looks scary

Some of the street corners in Skid Row remind of some film sets. There was a series a few year back which name escapes me but there was plenty of drug dealing. I'm daft enough to walk thro those kinds of places without realising it. However the run down nature of the place would keep me on my toes. Then again I lived in Liverpool in a dodgy area for a year or 2 back in my Uni days. I went to pubs were people were known to get shot! Glad you survived anyway 🙂

The Wire maybe? It's pretty easy to stumble on Skid Row tbf as it is right next to the Downtown area. Yeah my mate lived in a rough area in Liverpool when he was at uni there, used to enjoy visiting though, the people were very friendly!

@@no_soy_rubio yeah that was the one, The Wire but then realised that was meant to be Baltimore. Then again it sure looked like some of the film sets. And yeah saw more fighting and trouble in my home town than I ever did in Liverpool

I take the minimum amount of stuff with me, the rest is locked up in my accommodation. If I'm wild camping I'll try and leave most of my stuff in accommodation (usually with a room reserved either side of the camp), or a storage locker (they only have these in bigger cities) and take what I need. When I go to places like Skid Row I don't take my watch or even my cheap-arse bracelets 😆

Why can’t the Latinos buy up our boarded places? 🧐 that would be preferable.they graffiti everything there dont they? Very distinctive LA street sounds. That’s an insane number of homeless. Lots of rubbish littering up the streets too. Great place to visit, you picked the right time, bet it gets a bit cray cray at night.
