I watch several woodworking channels such as J Katz, A Wilkerson, Ron Paulk, 3X3, Woodsmith, Stumpy and a slew of others. NO ONE has ever mentioned the undersized router bits. These guys always sneak up on the dado. I'm really diggin the stop collar on that countersink drill bit. I agree, the countersink is great and I have them, but I have never seen that stop collar before.

I wrote up a list of tools I wanted for assembling tools for my workshop and most of them are on your list thanks. I do use a BORA product but not the centipede,I asked my wife for the BORA Portamate Speedhorse XT for a work surface around our property and I built a removable table top for it. I will also add I'm glad I found your channel,really enjoying the content.

Whole list looks good. Just a note that if you pick up a laser level to make sure you check it. I had 2 of the Bosch ones that I ended up having to return because they weren’t able to self level accurately. Which was a shame because I picked them up excited to get a green laser as I already have 2 red. To add to a laser level, if you get one with a magnetic back mount and pick up a metal drywall extension pole then it’s easy to set up absolutely anywhere in your house. Just put a piece of cloth on the top so you don’t mark your ceiling. :)

When you mentioned the centipede, I use 4 collapsible sawhorse, then built a 4x8 frame out of 2x4s, lay that across the sawhorses, then lay the plywood sheet on that to cut them. Set the saw-blade to barely cut through the sheet.

Great list. I really like Bessy parallel clamps and they have many accessories - extender you showed, squares for making frames, mini clamps to lock them to the table and swing jaws for clamping angled surfaces. And they also sell replacement parts which I appreciate.

I have almost all of those already, and agree with you on most of them. The Bessey extenders are new to me, but definitely see the value in them. Thanks! One suggestion on the calipers - iGaging make a dial set that covers imperial fractions that I use ALL the time and never worry about having just used the last CR2032 battery. They’re simple to use and easy to read to 64ths but can get more precise if necessary. I rarely use the digital ones now since 64ths is usually great for precise fine woodworking.

For the amana tool countersink, do you use #6 wood screws? Seems like most woodworkers use the 55227 which is advertised for #6 screws, but I always though #8 was the most popular.

The clamp extenders are interesting, but pricey. I think a few small blocks of wood with a cut exactly the size of the bar of your clamp would work just as well. You would remove the ends of either of your clamps, insert the clamps inside of the block end to end, and thread through two bolts/nuts to tighten it down and close them together horizontally. You could even make two cuts and leave a bit of wood in the center so the ends of the clamps don't press up against themselves, but I'm not sure that would be necessary if the fit is very tight, especially once they wood is closed very tightly. Most could probably do this in their shop with scrap wood and hardware laying around.

A laser level should, at a minimum, have a 360 horizontal line, a vertical line, and a 2 dot plumb bob all with very bright green laser lines to be fully useful. I use the Huepar 621CG and it's a far sight better than the expensive red laser Bosch 360 that it replaced. The screw wall mount tray on the Bosch is better than the useless weak magnet mount of the Huepar, but otherwise, it's no contest. Rig up a simple hanging tray out of wood scraps to mimic the Bosch if you don't already have one.

I am a hobbyist woodworker looking to pick up a cordless driver and a impact driver. I’m not necessarily looking for the best since I’m not a professional but I want tools that will have plenty of power when I need it, the batteries are going to last so I’m not constantly running out of charge, and tools that will will last and be dependable. I don’t want to buy cheap tools but don’t need the best. Can you recommend which tools to buy, brand and type of battery? Any brands to stay away from? Thanks.

(never used a laser level) Does the laser level has to be placed on a level surface to get accurate lines? Or does the computer or whatever inside always give you a proper laser line no matter what surface it's on?

Question about the router bits - is the 3/4” one 18mm in diameter, and the 1/2” 12mm? Just to confirm a suspicion I have - because plywood here in the uk is actually the thickness advertised, not a little bit thinner. My suspicion is that the industry in the US have started to go metric and just aren’t telling anyone.

Plywood in the US has always been thinner than the nominal thickness. 3/4 ply is 23/32 and 1/2 inch ply is 19/32. Just like a 2x4 isn't really 2x4

Is the problem with “undersized” plywood that it’s actually metric and not imperial? I ask this because here in Europe we just don’t have the “undersized problem. Maybe working in metric would solve the problem? Or at least buy 12mm and 18mm bits, which would solve the “undersized” issue.

No it's not in metric. All construction lumber in America is undersized. 3/4" plywood is actually 23/32" 2x4s are 1.5"x3.5"

The 23/32” is slightly off 18mm, which is actually 45/64’, and timber (or lumber) is undersized all over the world, that’s a long story to do with shipping and the timber framing industry being the largest consumer of 4x2s. So I think it’s more likely that plywood is made in metric and sold in imperial measurements.

I find that when I buy European plywood such as Baltic birch, that it is thicker slightly than American plywood.

Those plywood router bits are metric, because plywood is metric 12 mm is what you call 1/2" and 18 mm is what you call 3/4"

Unfortunately not the same. Our plywood is 23/32 which is 18.3mm
