On today’s episode, we started our adventure at the main farm, for an exciting day of harvesting our prototype intercrop corn plot, we plugged an auger, plus fixed a semi, got the computer working in the dryer shack, met with Joe our electrician, starting combining corn, and I discovered we technically won the United States High Yield Corn contest. Today was incredibly exciting, due to the fact we put in so much work into this intercrop test. We have a long way to go to make it better, but I am optimistic for the future!

It’d be interesting to see the long-term yield of intercropping since the corn and soybeans are going to impact the soil and other conditions differently. They may even impact pests differently as there is greater distances between plants and temperatures can change more. I hope you do this long-term.

Yup... that's what I figured with the locked rotor current blowing the fuses. First check voltage at breaker....that will tell you that you haven't lost a supply phase. Then check voltage on both sides of the fuses 🙂

But as a non farmer and a major gamer who just works and plays games, I LOVE hearing about how badly it's done. i can't wait for you to get your day in court. Somthing about you explaining how its meant to work but showing its working wrong is so entertaining. Plz keep recording over here and talking to us about what you're comfortable. Thank you for doing all that very interesting. Next year might do some narrow row stuff. Been my experience that if the only thing you change is row width to 15” you gain 10-15 bushel increase. Doing that creates new problems for your other equipment. I have been doing narrow rows for 22 years now and I not going back to 30” rows. Kansas farmer.

I'm so glad to see you using range finding experiments and control groups to determine potential outcomes of what turns out to be engineering experiments. I work on the development of pacemakers and other implantable medical devices and use pretty much the same set of tools to determine how to build the most reliable devices. Stats and creating design of experiments is not something I credit those outside of the engineering community with. Thanks for proving me wrong.

I was an electrician on a new bin site with a similar capacity issue to the one you seem to have. The angle auger coming out of a hopper bottom bin to feed the dryer would overamp at about 20% of the projected flow of corn. After some trial and error, swapping pulleys etc, the millwright eventually cut off the double helix at the bottom of the auger flighting and the issue went away.

It's been a long wait for the powers that be to figure out the mess that is your bin sight. You would think sending a professional out there to look it all over and see with their own eyes, what is wrong, and compensate you for your loss, and, or, fix it all. I hope it's almost over. I like hearing about how the bin sight is performing. That's all part of your farming, and you have to figure it all in there. On the crop yields. Wow, great job Corn Star Farms!

It’s amazing how right our grandparents were. My Grandpa picked corn with a one row corn picker so his rows were further spaced apart compared to todays rows. So can help accomplish the intercrop while being monocrop.
@pilsplease7561
@pilsplease7561 7 ай бұрын
Because grapes grow readily where I am, to increase quality and decrease yields, I planted my vines like they do in europe where space is premium which is extremely tight and half the spacing we average in the US. It does decrease my total pounds of fruit but it increases the quality. In the US 8 feet between vines and rows is quite normal, in europe 3-4 feet between rows and vines. Which forces them to fight for resources and tends to lower the yields.

Your control crop numbers and willingness to try a new crop management is the kind of things my office with the USDA would be so excited about for the farmer. Back then, only 1 farmer had a computer, and knew how to use it. We didn't have any computers in our office 😂. So, this would have been huge news to share with others. Or, sometimes, just breaking even in a bad year, that's fantastic...in an average year, time for a celebration. People don't understand that bumper crop years aren't always a good thing for a farmer. That usually means the market price goes down because the supply/demand ratio is too close. This year, we're feeding several countries, so it should be okay. This is absolutely fascinating stuff! Congratulations on your control crop, ya did great! 🙂❤️

We have been doing the same concept as intercrop with a mono crop setup. We plant our corn in rows we call train rails. 2 Rows planted two rows not planted and then 2 rows planted again across the entire planter. The row density is higher to maintain a hectare density that is still the same. We have considerably higher yields and in drought years it is a life safer. Kind regards here from South Africa.

You were not being negative about the drying process, simply explaining how things work. In this case, you were showing your disappointment that from the computer, fuses/electrical issues, and the bins, things were not working the way they should, thereby slowing everything down. This is also a great way to show exactly what the entire process in your lawsuit is all about. What better way to testify than record the problem in real time.😊❤
