"Timidly".....Mr. Ian - My sweet Holy....everything....Son, your father is beyond legend. I, as what I hope, (after 45 years), of playing professionally have told many who ask "who my inspirations" were/are. KEAGGY, Stevie. Ray Vaughan, Stanley Jordon, Gibbons, ....countless blues and jazz....Mr. your Dad is SO right....YOU BE YOU. I think your dad was a river 100 miles wide running forever...Stevie was a river ONE mile wide and 100 miles DEEP....they are BOTH legends...Thank you sir for sharing...Oh, BTW....got Elixirs on my acoustic ...just put them on. Thank you sir - my best to your family!

I am 61 and the best confidence booster I ever received from a friend 40 years, who was a phenomenal guitar player said this, “ Hey buddy, no one strums an E chord like you, it’s sounds awesome!” I stopped comparing myself right then and there. Playing my guitar has been the second greatest joy, stress relief, worship tool I could ever have asked from the Lord. God bless you young man. Your dad is the best.

Ian, you dad is a guitar legend, as you know. Any advice he gives you is 'golden'!

I like it when he is honest about being a musician and being able to understand that you can have your own creations when it comes to music period,

Rob Stokes ...Me to. Good start was ' I belong to you' & 'can't wait to see you Jesus face to face'. All of Town to Town. etc, etc, etc.

The Apple does fall fair from the tree. Phil is a monster musician and humble man. His son appears to be following in his footsteps. As for elixir strings I will not play anything else. I have tried mostly to save money but I just can’t. Nothing compares to nanoweb

Being any famous musicians kid, it has to be hard as heck to not compare yourself to your parent. I once met Ben Taylor at a martial arts class believe it or not. Being the son of James Taylor and Carley Simon must be an experience in itself. But especially, like Ben, if you're headed towards playing music. And yes, as you can imagine, it is hard for him when people expect to hear the sounds of either one and you have your own sound. I don't envy Ben, or Ian.

possibly....there could be a great argument for both of them. Keaggy is always rated in the top 3 players in the world anytime I've ever read about it. Tommy would be too, but hard to pick a favourite. Both amazing players.

rick grebenik it always makes me laugh when an immature musician makes that type comment! I can guarantee you that both Phil And Tommy would cringe at your pitiful comment. I have met both players and they are genuine humble people that happen to excel playing guitar. It's not a competition Rick.

It kinda is, cuz the better guitarist has more skill!! Tommy kicks phills butt! And I told that to phill to!!
@richardgrebenik83397 жыл бұрын
Tommy's better, he don't even need a looper cuz he dies all the fancy runs without the looper, plus he walks around smiling at audience playing at same time with very difficult pieces ! Phill is more formulated, tommy is a notch above phill
