I literally bought a house because of Frankenstein lol. The builder put hi-def speakers in the ceiling (1972) and he demonstrated them with that song and it blew me away! We laid down on the carpeted floor and listened to it full blast and we decided that was the house for us! Still one of my favorites. Love all your work & Johnny's. Thanks and congrats on the award!

thanks for this interview, I am a 64 year old Johnny Winter fan from Buenos Aires and I have been enjoying his music for over 50 years , this expanded and candid video by Edgar has warmed my heart , spotaneous and full of love , Long live the blues

My first concert was Edgar Winter in 72!!! It was great, made a huge impression on me !!!

What a wonderful interview with the legendary Edgar Winter. Edgar loved his brother Johnny and its really awesome for us fans to hear first hand stories from Edgar that show the close relationship they had and also the different interest in styles of music they played and enjoyed. Edgar really opens his heart here and we all benefit from this album (thanks Monique) as many of our (fans) favorite tunes are on this tribute album. The guest lineup is legendary and are all good friends of Edgars and more importantly they all loved and appreciated Johnny's music and impact on music history! I personally have seen Johnny play live 15-20 times from Texas to Florida. He is in fact the original and best Texas guitar slinger!

Edgar is a total class act. I have only seen him once. Johnny? 9 times.

I want to thank Edgar for sharing his talent, music and the story of brother Johnny, who just happens to be one of my favorite guitar players and showman. I did have the opportunity, in the early 70's at the San Diego Sports Arena, to see Johnny and Edgar play together. Rick Derringer was lead guitar for Edgar's group. Possibly my favorite concert of all time. ROCK AND ROLL FOREVER.

I met Edgar Winter and his wife Monique in the late 80s in LA, CA. Excellent musician and a very nice person.

Edgar was always loyal to his brother even when Johnny was screwing up his life with drugs. They must have been pretty tight as brothers because they played together all through out their careers.

Hey, hey Edgar! You played for my little syndicate of promoters, as did Johnny, in Windsor, London, and Thunder Bay Ontario many times! I’ll never forget you playing Frankenstein on our festival stage in London, as a big thunderstorm began coming in from behind the stage! What a visual! We had to shut down after Frankenstein was over to keep things “safe” but that show is burned into my brain - happened around 2002-3! You and I ran around town to find a suitable keyboard stand for you as we had not paid attention to your rider requirements of having a specific separation distance between the upper and lower levels based on your eyesight restrictions! Ahhh…..one of my fav music biz memories! Peace

Thank you for this fantastic and illuminating interview! I saw Johnny at the Fillmore East and years later my band had the honor of opening for him at New York’s Bottom Line. Both Winter brothers are amazing, and hearing Edgar’s eloquent telling of their story is a blessing.

Edgar is right, he was quiet , I didn’t know he existed till some time after I discovered John as a matter of fact , I first thought Frankenstein was John’s song and that’s how I discovered Edgar , didn’t know he existed lol

His 1975 solo album, "Jasmine Nightdreams" is definitely his most underrated album ever recorded. So much better than anything else. "Tell Me In A Whisper" is absolutely beautiful and should've been a huge hit. Love you, Edgar!!!

I'm so glad I had a chance to see Johnny ONCE ( sadly only once! ) a couple years before his passing.

Johnny and Edger have been some of my top artist dating to the early 70s, I had several of their records including "They Only Come out At Night" Edger Winter and one my favorite Johnny Winter albums was "Second Winter" where the guitar work on this album was extraordinary. RIP Johnny.

I was lucky enough to get to see both Winter brothers. Johnny was at. a music festival in Chattanooga and Edgar was 2001 in Atlanta with Ringo Starr. I have always been a fan of both. Thanks for the cool interview. His mention of Dan Hartman was awesome, his musicality on They Only Come Out At Night was spectacular . Johnny was my favorite guitar player, I still have a couple albums of his. Gonna get this one of Edgar. Thanks again for the cool interview 😎

Congrats on the Grammy last night for Brother Johnny. I had the pleasure of playing drums for James Cotton who won a Granny for Best Blus Duo with Johnny Winter in 1971. What a great gig here in Austin, Texas before James' death.

I am 70 .when I was 16 a friend and I were hitch hiking to a cabin in ct. to camp for weekend.a hippie school bus picked us up and invited us to go to a concert in Spfld.Mass.edgar winter group was playing .in an old movie theatre with no seats.It was one of my first rock concerts.what a great show.i recall the lead singer was a blind guy dont know who he was tho

I love this interview. I grew with another awesome musician Alan Haynes from Houston. We would skip high school and play my dad's 59 Les Paul all day long and listen to Johnny's music. Johnny was a major influence on Alan and in fact they ended up recording together. I think Johnny is the most underrated rock/blues player of all time. i can't remember how many times I saw him live and especially in the 70's when he was on the front page of Hit Parade magazine and was pop star of the month !!! Those were the best times my friends !!!! Smoking a big fat one, a few beers and Johnny Winter playing on the 8 track !!! RIP Johnny and a special thanks to Edgar who is another legend who produced some of the best music you will ever hear. Two legends from Texas and we are so proud to have been involved in music at that awesome time. Thank you Johnny and Edgar !!!

Both of these brothers were influential to me in my formative years. I got the White Trash album the day it landed in our town. Johnny Winter And live was a staple on my turntable. Keep Playin' That Rock 'n' Roll!

IMO Johnny is the GOAT, also each decade after the 70s music went downhill, more and more technology and less and less talent. Edgar Winter was my first Rock concert, saw Johnny at least 15 times, once with Muddy Waters which was my favorite.

I got to watch Johnny play at the Cain's Ball room in Tulsa. When he was playing his leads and walking across the edge of the stage about 5 feet from me. I've never seen a guitarist that got so much joy out of playing in front of his fans!

Everything Edgar says here hits it on point. Especially from 12:58 on, where he says exactly what it's all about. That's how you become a round-up musician. Especially among Heavy Metal fans lasts the attitude: once metal, always metal... I mean, come on! I love how he speaks of his elder brother, pointing out, that Johnny is his great hero. That's it, folks! I love it!

Edgar was and still is a favorite of mine and it is so awesome to see him being so humble. I respect this so much. His repect for others is something the world is missing today. I hope he knows he is loved and repected the same way he loves and respects others. To me, he is everything he intended to be.

I had the White Trash album "Introducing Jerry Laquoix" and I taped it to cassette to play in the car. When it wore out, I just taped it again on a fresh tape! For whatever reason I stopped listening to it and kinda forgot about it. Then many years later I dug it out and played it to my teenage daughter, who absolutely loved it. She thought they were like the Blues Brothers on steroids! Floyd Radford was their lead guitarist and he went on to play in Johnny's band.

My very first concert was Edgar Winter. Probably 1973, at the Waterbury CT Palace Theater.

What a Great Musical Genius and unselfish sharer of his great talent. When I share the old video of you and Johnny playing Tobacco Road, it totally blows people away, even to this day! I was born in 1962, in Charlotte, NC. I've lived in Raleigh and now Clayton, so, I know all about Tobacco Road, in Durham, NC.
