Heres's what I would suggest you to do: Add two wallpapers for your lock screen, one that is your main wallpaper and a black oled wallpaper. Add those as a photo shuffle. And set the shuffle frequency to "On Tap". After locking, you can just tap on the lockscreen to change it to black wallpaper whenever you don't want to be distracted.

@@boogeymanw9643 Lockscreen > Add New Wallpaper > Photo Shuffle > Select Photos Manually > *Select Your Two Photos (One is your preferred wallpaper and one dark black wallpaper) > Tap on the Options button on bottom right corder, Select Shuffle Frequency to "On Tap" > Add Once you lock your screen, just by a single tap on the lockscreen you can switch between the two wallpapers.

Maybe people should turn down their brightness on their phones. I’ve never had an issue with the display being too bright at night. The display is actually pretty dark. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@kimsanyt I don’t know how bright their phones are, but given that they are always under bright lights, they probably have their phones super bright. It’s probably the reason why at night their phones seems bright even on AOD. I say this because when I’m asleep I keep my phone near by and it’s not bright at all, because the phone display dims down.

Just got this phone and the 'always on' display doesn't stay on. Sometimes it stays on for 10 mins, sometimes for 10 seconds. None of the 8 conditions apple lists as possibly causing this is applicable. Talked to support and they basically said this is a feature, if you don't like it, get another phone... Sometimes on display?

@@bustercolin7507 the reason it won't happen is because AOD is a combination of software and hardware (I think). The 14pro/Promax have an LTPO display which has a lower refresh rate to use less battery when AOD is enabled. that being said it still uses a decent bit of battery life.

It’s closer to “classic” always on display but sadly the pixels are still on just extremely dimmed on a black screen. If you turn off the light you’ll still see the light illuminating. My android phones don’t do that.

@Carlos Not really. I had Always on Display on my Samsung Galaxy S10e (this had a 60hz display). It’s Apple being greedy, wanting their consumers to upgrade to the latest devices in order to get the Always on Display even though all Oled iPhones should have this feature. Note: I am a iPhone 13 Pro Max user. Its screen can go from 10hz-120hz yet Apple only decided to add the Always on Display feature to the iPhone 14 Pro series because they are greedy man.

Most android phones have had this feature for decades, but not to the same extent, I can set my 2017 smartphone screen to remain on as long as I'm holding the phone, if I put the phone down on a desk it will stay on for 30 minutes before going to sleep. And apple is acting like they invented the technology.

I think its pathetic that “Apple Fans/Users” have to always find a workaround to use most of the features or QOL updates while still paying a premium amount for their products. Starting to get bored of their “pay for it today, we’ll fix this software or add some hardware 3 years later and you can pay again for that device too.”

I don’t know why people are complaining for. I can barely see my display at night when I’m asleep, it’s not bright at all. I think that some people might have their lights on when they sleep, because I’m really trying to understand why their screen is bright at night but mine is really dark. 🤔

In January this year I got a new battery put in my iPhone 8 and I was actually hoping to get two more years out of it because nobody thought the iPhone 7 would be cut off

They won’t do that as it is a selling point of the 14 pro and pro max. It would work but I don’t believe that apple will do this.

@@spencerscott6530 mostly due to the 13 series not having a dynamic refresh rate In fact, the feature was accidentally triggered by users with previous models as a bug during the iOS 16.0 beta phase

@@TheAikatsuFan I don’t think it’s the refresh rate as the 13 pro goes down to 10Hz and lots of androids have AOD and have a higher minimum refresh rate.

Totally worthless feature. I use raise to wake , no tap to wake on IPhone 13. I also wear an Apple Watch. It notifies me if I actually need to access my iPhone when tucked away. My phone has used 7% battery since unplugged from charger 7 hours ago.

I actually like Apples implementation better. But i only think it needs to give you separate dimming options for “always on” display. But I do have a problem with Apples implementation vs Samsungs. Samsung always on display never shuts off . I’ve found on my IPhone 14 Pro Max that the screen goes off at times . I also have a problem with the Apple Ultra watch “always on” screen going off , this shouldn’t function this way . But Samsung is just as pathetic on their watch “always on” implementation as the screen also goes off .
