Qualified immunity must be something the cops fight TO GAIN.... not something the public must fight TO REMOVE. Any society doing it this way is doing it wrong. It leaves it open to WIDESPREAD abuse, as we are now seeing thanks to dashcams and cell phone cameras. I get that cops are human and screw up sometimes. The problem is how violent they get when they do screw up. if they ditched the ego and admit and apologize when it becomes clear to literally everyone else around them that what they are doing is both ethically and legally wrong, this wouldn't be such an issue.

@@erictroygmail - It was several minutes into the wellness check before the officers mentioned anything about suspected intoxication, they simply ordered him out of the vehicle, even though he asked them multiple times what their reason was. The officers never articulated their suspicion to him, they just used force. If they had explained their suspicion things may have gone in a different direction. His response was actually "No, I'm fine" when asked if he was OK, which was odd, plus the fact he was stopped 10 feet before the stop sign. It is tough to tell if he had been sitting in that location for a while, or if he was leaving the lot when he stopped his vehicle for the officers. This is one of the worst cases I've seen of law enforcement escalating a situation to such an extreme and outrageous level, that never needed to be escalated in the first place. For refusing to speak to the cops and then drive away, which the man was legally entitled to do, he ended up having 6 charges pinned on him, most of which were felonies. The police were called out to conduct a welfare check and the guy wasn't under any sort of civil or criminal investigation, but like always, law enforcement can't help themselves and have to escalate things. The mere fact that the man did not wish to speak with the cops and then drive away was enough to frustrate and annoy the officers, who decided to retaliate out of spite to get their own back. The laws went right out the window after that and the welfare check suddenly became a non priority, this was now all about unprofessional, ego driven, aggressive and disrespectful tyrants with badges and guns, seeking personal retribution by nflicting as much physical torture on this guy as possible because he hurt their sensitive little feelings, wouldn't cooperative in dialogue with them and failed to obey their tyrannical and unlawful commands.

Yep, exactly, we the people of this country who elect, pay overinflated salaries to lawmakers and politicians alike, we must introduce, and push a bill through Congress that abolishes Qualified Immunity and mandates law enforcement agencies to be required to be held personally and, of departamentally responsible for the actions of the officers that we the people pay. Lawsuits must come from their pensions, pension funds, or personnel assets, everything including homes, bank accounts, and vehicles, because when that happens, and I sure do hope it does, we're gonna see a huge turnaround in the way these thug pigs treat people. Hit em in the pockets because all they care about is their own safety and paycheck.
@libertyfighter76
@libertyfighter76 8 ай бұрын
@@rick6z5 I appreciate your comment and completely agree with your views and opinions. This is the problem with law enforcement, every cop is legally protected by qualified immunity, the courts and other things, this is why officers don't care and willfully abuse their authority and the law because there is no accountability for them. They have almost free reign to cause as much terror, harm and misery on the people as they wish and very rarely get punished for their criminal acts, either by the courts and/or their PD. It's getting so bad and out of control with law enforcement now that the people are literally fearing for their lives and not safe anywhere they are or go, either on the streets, in their private vehicles and homes. I don't call the American police law enforcers or peace officers anymore, but simply government death squad members, because the majority of them are so trigger happy and eager to unholster their sidearm at every opportunity they get to freely gun down any human being they want to, usually without showing any compassion, remorse, guilty conscience or human morals. All a cop has to do is claim officer safety while conducting an investigation and 99.9% of their actions are then legally justified, whether they've used unreasonable and/or excessive force, unlawfully or not. If a bill was passed through Congress where qualified immunity was stripped away from police officers under specific legal scenarios and conditions, things would improve quickly because cops would need to start using their heads while on duty and think a lot more carefully about whether to deploy their taser or firearm. Another good thing that would come about if this qualified immunity bill was passed, is it would attract the right sort of non ego men and women into law enforcement, those who are passionate about wanting to protect, serve and defend the Constitution and its people. Many cops that are in law enforcement now are just in it for the paycheck, personal ego and the power trips it gives them from welding all that legal power and authority to rule over others, as well as wanting to feel special and god like wearing that uniform, badge and gun. The majority of law enforcement officers don't care about the Constitution, upholding the law and serving and protecting the people, they're purely in the job for themselves and to abuse it as much as possible.

In Australia, during a domestic dispute, a rather angry wife set her (soon to be EX) husband up with a "welfare check" from police. They turned up, gave him an earful of threats and abuse, and when he responded "what, am I supposed to suck your (bleep)'s" he was pepper sprayed, tazered, bashed, handcuffed, bashed some more, then charged with assaulting police and resisting arrest. And that was BEFORE "covid", where police seemingly had a licence to shoot people in the back with rubber bullets for no other reason than being in a public. I haven't given up hope (hopium is a powerful drug) that even 1/10th of the violent tendencies of police MIGHT one day be turned on their political puppet masters. Wow, THAT will be a day to behold!!

Happened in New South Wales (Australia). Two blond bimbo's pulled over a car (traffic stop) because the passenger had tattoos on his arms. They demanded "ID" from the passenger, who politely declined as he was not driving. Pigs pulled their tazers, zapped him, and used all their womanly strength to wrestle him from the car and handcuff him on the ground (he never resisted). They THEN took his phone, and "deleted" the footage of their behaviour. (Pigs aren't very bright - he took it to a phone repair shop and simply had the video recording "UN-deleted"). At least he had evidence of their misconduct. What happened? A politician PROPOSED a law that police COULD be fined for deleting evidence. Now they're just more thorough in making sure there's no evidence they deleted evidence they tazed a person for no other reason than a power trip.
