EMS (and FD/FD) don't have a free pass to blast through lights. The ambulance also went through the red light...it would have been half way across or more before their light turned green. if the ambulance hadn't been reckless the car would have made it safely through the red light due to the timing of the light allowing a margin of error

there's no reason to hit your brakes if you can just drive around them. honk to alert them that you're there, they brake, you turn around them. I'd wager most of the cammers that honked also had their foot over the brake so if they needed to they could hit em.

4:08 Red light runner should not only be responsible for all damages, but also the medical bills of the individual in the Ambulance or the person they were responding to! If someone died because that Ambulance couldn't make it, then that red light runner should be charged for the death of that person!

@Aluzky In this instance, the ground is wet and trying to make the light as soon as possible could be safer then hydroplaning, who knows, shit happens, very few cars would accelerate fast enough after the light swaps to green to collide with the red light runner here, the real dangerous issue is that they were not paying attention and missed emergency lights and sirens

At a light... not much choice. I'm with Kal on this one... Let the light turn, and give them some space (hang back a little) as you start... invent the space to see what they're going to do, and where stuff can fall so you buy time... Once clear (and safe) to do so, pass like you MEAN IT... Damn the posted limit, on this one, get around and on down the road... open up a little extra space behind you as a courtesy to others before getting over again and letting off the accelerator. That's not a vehicle to hang around... simple as that. ;o)

At 1:46 or so, driver going 77 mph finally brakes for truck at 45 mph. Afterwards, all lanes of traffic going about 45 mph.

That first one reminds me of a guy I know who was rear-ended after pulling in front of a truck, and then stopping short when traffic stopped. He couldn't understand how the truck hit him. Truck driver said he didn't even see my friend's car and my friend couldn't understand how that was possible (smh). I explained to my friend that those trucks have a lot of blind spots. "But they sit up so high, they can see everything!" Nope. I told my friend to put something about a foot in front of his car, no higher than his headlights, and then look for that object. That's how most cars look to a truck. Never pull in front of a truck unless you can see the driver's face in your rear view mirror (not the side ones, the rear view). Sheesh.

I've owned 3 dash cams and most the time when the vehicle is moving rapidly the license plate is not legible in the video footage.

I hope the dude at 6:00 reports that truck to the police. Waving a gun like that is illegal brandishment and could get his right to own a firearm revoke (Which he deserves if he is being this careless with his weaponry. Only responsible, law abiding citizens have the right to own guns.)

The right to self defense isn't just a constintutional right, it's an intrinsic human right.

4:24 Don't worry! SWIFT will hire that guy before the police show up! I feel bad for the pickup driver. Clearly the truck driver was not paying attention. Took WAY TOO LONG to react and stop. I imagine that trailer was light, otherwise there would've been a lot more damage to the pickup! The pickup held up quite well!

Just re-watched If you watch solely from the other driver's pov you'll see the pick up driver slow down (seemingly to acknowledge the truck) Then as the truck begins to take the lane you can see (how) the pick up driver accelerates a little as to say "I'll beat you clearing this lane." Main reason why I never try to pass a truck on 🛣. Esp a 2 lane 🛣

Ambulance has to stay at the scene of the accident. Another ambulance would be dispatched to wherever the other one was going - effectively delaying care someone might need. Sad thing is, if the ambulance was en route to the hospital with an emergent patient in the back, that person's life could be even more in danger now that their transport has been delayed. A different ambulance would be sent to pick up that patient. People need to be more aware of their surroundings. They don't realize their distracted driving puts so many lives in danger.

Having been in an accident the Ambulance would have to stay at the scene. Its also possible that due to the crash, the vehicle and/or the paramedics inside are not any state to continue their journey.

Great question and thanks for the answers. My opinion is that they should be able to leave the scene and finish the emergency duty if the vehicle and everyone inside is still able to, if lives could be at stake

Sitting at a red traffic light waiting to turn right and an ambulance with his lights on took the big side mirror off of my truck with the box of the ambulance. He didn't stop, went through the intersection and he surely must have felt the impact.

Because with most people especially the narcissists it's all about me, and me being the selfish ahole tat they are never considers anyone else on the road. They can't wait or be polite to let someone come in because they will "get a head of me" or "I don't have to" because the law states type of twit. Cammer was doing 75mph on an urban interstate, came up to where the right lane was exit only, traffic on several more lanes joining from the left, traffic is doing about 45mph, and the cammer thinks the truck she is flying up on is at fault!

That 18 wheeler that accelerated could've definitely a avoided that situation. You can literally hear him switching gears when he could have just let those cars passed. You can also see very clearly that there are cars in your mirrors. What a joke.

Trucks are naturally accelerating from a stop to build speed and have typically 18 gears. Cars always think they have to get in front of the truck, this one didn’t make it.

@@moappleseider1699 nah, jeeps are shitty vehicles that struggle with basic obstacles. They're glamour vehicles for folks who wanna drive around town declaring how outdoorsy they are. For like 20 years jeeps failed basic safety tests such as the moose test. They're just bad vehicles, so much so that last week they were declared the least reliable vehicles on the road with the lowest resale values. They're seriously just bad vehicles. Fiat knows who buys jeeps.

@@CRneu LOL pretty much everything you said is objectively wrong. Maybe you're talking about the regular old jeeps. I'm on my 3rd Grand Cherokee and I love it. I have 4WD if I need it which is awesome in the snow and ice I get around here, and overall its a pretty good vehicle. I can have people in my back seat, or I can fold the seats down and hall a decent amount of stuff around. It just fits for what I want. I see a lot of soccer moms (usually single moms) also driving Jeeps and they suck at basic maintenance which is a major issue when you talk about most vehicles. Also had they gone at an angle they could have easily gotten over that curb. Did it just the other day.

You know, with all these Idiots in Cars videos, you'd think the government would institute some kind of program where you can send in dashcam footage of reckless drivers so cops can identify and charge them based on their plates and/or vehicle description. Maybe even throw in a small reward for the cammer as an incentive. Call it the Citizens' Road Protection Initiative or something. But I guess that makes too much sense, so it'll never happen.

Actually, over here in Germany, that has been judged illegal and carries a fine. You can apparently use dashcam footage of your own accident, but not to play sheriff. (Playing sheriff generally has a bad reputation here.)

3:35 This is why I ALWAYS keep at LEAST 1.5-2 car lengths away when stationary and 2-3 car lengths while driving. I'm actually surprising my area when people cut you off they also flick you off with the sense of entitlement that it's just absurd. Especially when you honk at them. Actually sometimes when you honk at them they suddenly don't have to be in a rush to get anywhere anymore or their brakes seem to consistently work. The other option is that their car goes in reverse a lot.

I did an unnecessary amount of research on the clip at 4:20. I first tried to use the exit sign to determine my location, and I found “Port Arthur” then I looked at the restaurant sign that said “Twin Peaks” and found the location, then I found the precise location of the exit sign and was able to mark where the spot of the accident was, starting at the merge lane then stopping at the exit sign, and was able to determine that this accident dragged on the shoulder lane for about 113 yards, which is about the length of a football field if the length of the end zones was cut in half. So I was able to determine that this was in Beaumont, Texas going between the x-coordinate of the Cheddar’s sign and the exit signs for Port Arthur and Lake Charles Lufkin, finding the precise location.

6:57 was "nearly side swiped" by the white car? There's more than half of one of those white stripes between the white car and the camera vehicle. They weren't even close to an impact.

A teen ran a red light just grazing the front of my car. It heated my license plate down the road and only left a few scratches. The funny thing is she ran the light so late her car actually went through the space between me and the car in front of me.
