I have a suggestion. You should put a disclaimer at the beginning of the video that the dashcam can see more than a driver can. The dashcam is right at the windshield in the center but the driver has a lot less visibility. Also since the fov is wider everything seems to happen faster than it actually does

3:15: Better “PRO TIP” is when it’s raining hard, reduce your speed and increase your distance from the car ahead of you as you may be hydroplaning already. The faster you drive in rain, the more likely hydroplaning is.
@bwame
@bwame Жыл бұрын
Exactly. It is all about speed! The faster you go the more likely hydroplaning with occur. Braking will only make it worse if you are already hydroplaning. Badly worn tires will definitely make it easier to hydroplane but it can still occur with new tires. Lighter vehicles are also more prone to hydroplaning. When you actually start to hyrdoplane, it feels like you are floating down the road - it is super smooth. I hydroplaned in my first car, a 1990 Geo Prizm Hatchback (very very lightweight), like 13 years ago when i was in high school. It was a very rainy day and I was going a little too fast turning in an intersection. Luckily no one else was on the road and it only occurred at about 30 mph. It was so buttery smooth that it was confusing as to what was going on a first. Ended up pointing in the opposite way in the lane but still on the road. Slowly turned around and continued on (much slower) in a shocked, terrified state lol.

Every time i watch these videos I am amazed at two things: 1. How many accidents could be prevented if people were more attentive. 2. The overly long horn honking in fits of rage and the honking at low offense traffic wrongdoings. I have never laid on my horn for more than two or 3 seconds, and as someone who drives 100’s miles a week as a courier, I’ve definitely had my fair share of opportunities to tell someone off justifiably.
@electrified0
@electrified0 Жыл бұрын
The horn can be an extremely useful tool to ensure drivers are attentive, but many drivers seem to think that continuing their manuver into a collision trajectory into another vehicle while laying on the horn is somehow justified by the fact that the other vehicle is at fault. If your vehicle is about to collide with another vehicle, slow down or change your trajectory.

2:24 NGL, the yellow light had flashed while the cammer was still a fair bit away. If you are able to, you are supposed to stop, and the cammer I think had more than enough time to do so. I will also say, when you are trying to turn left at an intersection, and you've taken possession ALWAYS makes sure that anyone incoming is going to stop. Too many people hit the gas without a care in the world. I do think this was more on the cammer than the person turning. Anticipating that everyone on the road is an idiot is literally how you drive. I’ve saved myself and a few lives just by assuming someone will do the dumbest thing possible. Had a kid (around 12) fall off his bike right infront of my car. But I anticipated that a child riding a big bike MIGHT fall so he was alright. All I was thinking about for the rest of the day was the fact that had someone less observant been where I was, that child wouldn’t still be here. The kid was fine, he was embarrassed and cut up his knee but he gave me a thumbs up and held back the tears. Had another situation with a little girl running across the road from behind a van. Again I just assumed there might be a dog or child behind the van and there legit was. Kids need to be taught better road safety, and people over 40 should be made to do a driving test. Too many people in Europe in my country just got a driving licence because they were driving for x amount of years. Anyone born before the 80s has been driving a long time but they are clueless about most basic rules. For example, boomers in my country think ‘Green means go’ No. Green means proceed with caution if safe to do so. Green doesn’t give you the right to run someone over lmao.

0:33 Gotta watch when changing lanes when people are looking to pull out. The pickup probably saw the jeep in the right lane, then looked to his left for traffic the other way before going, and assumed the jeep was still in the right lane, with a clear left lane for him to get into. I didn't hear a turn signal indicator from the jeep either, which certainly doesn't help their situation.

I don't try to "make yellows" I don't jump greens. I always drive defensively. I have a camera on my car because a lot of people where I currently live got their license out of a cracker jack box. The fact remains that the left lane is the passing lane. If you notice traffic is passing you or you aren't keeping pace with traffic you need to get your ass over to the other lanes right of you. @@truthtellerone3152 I can't see your whole comment so you may want to repost. That being said you say I'm probably a bad driver and all I did was give you an explanation. I have a total of 12 tickets in my life. I rear ended a lady the week I got my license because she slammed on her breaks when a dog ran out in front of her. I admit I wasn't paying attention, and was too close to her. Lucky we were only going 25. I have one for skipping a stop sign. Stop sign was covered by an over grown tree and the police knew it and were handing out tickets left and right. Again I was a teenager who should have been paying more attention. I also got one for going 5 over and again I was teenager in a town with too many cops that had nothing to do but hand out quota tickets. The rest are literally all seatbelt tickets, and I haven't gotten one of those in over 10 years. A couple fix it tickets for head light or tail lights out and quickly fixed them and got them take off. As for track experience I have none. Unless you include drag racing when I was young, and racing on the highways. In Detroit we had a freeway, 696, that you could easily break 100 on with long slow turns. I don't do that crap anymore and now prefer SUV's to being able to blow people out of the water at a light. I like to get where I'm going safely and I live in a state where most of the drivers are shit.

@@moappleseider1699 Nah, if you have to tell me that you are, then it isn't true. It is always people with this mindset that inevitably cause these accidents though, because every single one is, "a great driver that doesn't make mistakes" until you do and it costs someone else their car or their life and it is usually exacerbated by the speed you supposedly could handle. If you were a "good driver" like you claim, then you would value and already understand defensive driving and the importance of caution, maintaining reduced speeds and you would seriously value having patience on the road. Since patience is then you would not only have more patience on the road, you also wouldn't care so much about, "slow drivers." I appreciate your subsequent honesty and addmitance to my claims though. That does show decent character.
